The Venturerider plaque is only there because of you and your wife, and because of B2Mom and B2Dad Lewis. For years the four of you have pushed and pursued contributions for St. Jude's and because of that effort from the four of you, the plaque is there. There is no other reason but because of you four that it exists. We may have contributed $$ over the years, but if it was not for the four of you persistently trying to reach a goal, it would not have happened. You four have my many thanks !!! And I to want to say Thanks to everyone who has supported this cause over the years!!!!!!!!!!!!. Eck

flat on rear tire.... to plug or not to plug?
Eck replied to midnightrider1300's topic in Watering Hole
Everyone has an opinion on this subject (plug a MC tire ...or not.. Here is my 2 cents for what it's worth. I carry a plug kit on my Wing. I will use it if and when I need to just like I have for years on Car tires. I plugged many a tire in my day when I had my service station in Greenville, PA. Of all things, I went to a class on plugging tires one night, amongst other things being taught that night. Always use plug glue when plugging a tire. It does two things. (1) It sure makes pushing the plug into the tire a whole lot easier... (2)..As it dries it bonds / seals the plug to the tire. Important notes: Insert plug where the plug insert tool is half way (in the middle) of the plug. Fold the plug in half around the insert tool where both legs of plug are same length Applying glue to the entire plug Carefully align at same angle hole is in tire then push/ insert it in the tire and continue pushing the insert tool all the way until the two plug leg ends are barely sticking out of the tire. Now, rotate the handle of the plug tool 180 degrees. Do NOT pull the tool out until you rotate it. Rotating it a little knot on the inside of the tire which aids in plugging the hole from the inside plus eliminates the plug from working its way out of the tire. Once you rotated the insert tool 180 degrees, pull outward on the insert tool and remove it. You can leave - or cut off - the two plug ends sticking out, flush with the tire. Add air to proper inflation limits Now go ride that darn thing like you always have...That plug wont pop out and does not make the tire any less safe. I have, and will, ride MC tires with a plug it until the tire needs to be replaced. Heck, I would even ride on a MC tire that has two or more plugs in it. -

Whew..............I was beginning tot have a complex of owning a Goldwing............. Thanks guys. Great to know I am not the "odd" one............ http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=87932 -
Every other site I am on comes up quickly. I mean like my Goldwing site, email facebook, google home page, blah, blah, blah... However, when I click on the VR.org site, I only get the blue bar across the top of the page, but nothing else, and an icon that goes round and round and round... While waiting, if I click on calendar, community, user CP, or any other forum at top of page, they all come up quickly.....BUT...When I click on "Forum"... nothing comes up right away.. it takes about 30 to 45 seconds, maybe even a minute...then it appears.. Wondering if something is on my side or others have this ?

Sorry for the delay in response.... but yes they are attached to the tank, and I installed a male female quick disconnect in case I had to remove the tank. The mini male/female quick disconnect I purchased at a Remote Control shop. I has several of these quick disconnects on my RSV. Here is a link for an example: http://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/fyuli1982/product-detailibIxOaRlAScZ/China-Male-and-Female-Mini-Tamiya-Plug-with-100MM-16AWG-Silicone-Wire.html

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A submersible pump (or sub pump, electric submersible pump (ESP)) is a device which has a hermetically sealed motor close-coupled to the pump body. The whole assembly is submerged in the fluid to be pumped.[4] The main advantage of this type of pump is that it prevents pump cavitation, a problem associated with a high elevation difference between pump and the fluid surface. Submersible pumps push fluid to the surface as opposed to jet pumps having to pull fluids. Submersibles are more efficient than jet pumps.

Wishing you the best of luck as you and your Plummer tackle the task at hand today. Hope all goes smoothe and your up and running easily and quickly. Many years ago (late 60s), I worked for a well drilling guy and ran his rig. Drilled many a well back in those days. Installed submersible pumps, dug trenches, installed water lines and electric lines to the house as you will be doing today.. Yep, I surely don't have many fond memories of that job... all I can do is wish you the best of luck. Oh, and stay out of the mud.............

Here are a couple pics of examples as to where I placed mine.

Well, I have these pictures in my mind....do they count? Lets see, a little store on right, gravel parking lot on left side of store, across from store is the guard shack (that wasn't open) the gate "arm" is about 40 feet from the guard shack, there is a small medium strip between going in and out of the camp site, Oh and there are two deer standing on the side of the road just past the loading dock on the right, several small boats with people fishing, and hot coffee at McDonalds... Whew... had to pic my brain to remember all that now.. If I get a chance again, I will head back to see if I can find anyone. Wont be today though.. While at Ruby falls, I hope you went to look out mountain (rock city) while there. From the "Rock City" it is said that seven U.S. states can be seen: Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. In reality, on very clear days, some mountains in the Knoxville area of Tennessee can be seen at a distance of about 100 miles, but the curvature of the earth's surface lowers anything in Kentucky, South Carolina, or Virginia to below the horizon. http://www.lookoutmountain.com/ For those that would like to make a run to see it: Lookout Mountain is located at http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/55/WMA_button2b.png/17px-WMA_button2b.png WikiMiniAtlas 34°59′47″N 85°21′3″W / 34.99639°N 85.35083°W / 34.99639; -85.35083

Sorry Marcarl, but I didn't just have a senior moment here bud. See, I knew the rally didn't start until tomorrow .. and as with most any rally there are always a few people who show up a day or two before hand. I had a little time this morning (since my son and his wife are off with a couple friends for the day), where I could jump on the bike and take a chance to see if I could find a VR member in Guntersville. I didn't just run down there thinking the rally was today. I may be getting a little older but not all my actions are results of senior moments.

I know I was a day early but I got up at 4:30am and took off for Guntersville, Al. I got to the state park and didn't see anyone in sight and not one motorcycle was in the parking lot at 6:30am... I got a cup of coffee and waited outside by the check in counter but again, not one bike was there except mine. Then I got back on my bike and rode to the camp ground area. Could not get in - no one at the gate. I was told they don't open till 8am, I was there at 7am...the little store was open next to the gate. I just wanted to ride around the camp ground and look for any Ventures...but I could not get in, so I got back on my bike and went to McDonalds and had breakfast...never saw a bike in town go by, so I decided the heck with it and just came back home. Just thought I might be able to see someone from the VR group, but only saw one bike and that guy didn't wave at all. Appeared to be in a world of his own...

If I ever get rid of my wing, I will own a Harley...
-
Only about one Yamaha bike in 10 has experienced a major problem or required a serious repair over the past four years, according to the 4,424 motorcycle owners surveyed by CR. In contrast, about one BMW motorcycle in three has suffered from such a complaint -- and one Harley in four. Here's how the numbers break down: http://g.foolcdn.com/editorial/images/104131/percentage-of-bikes-with-problems_large.JPG Again, the numbers: http://g.foolcdn.com/editorial/images/104131/problems-by-class_large.JPG It may help to explain why -- Harley's weak performance on the surveynotwithstanding -- CR says Harley owners remain the most brand-loyal of all motorcycle owners, with an astounding 75% saying yes, they'd buy a Harley again. The occasional small repair bill may simply be a price they're willing to pay for owning the most famous name in motorcycles. (And it probably doesn't hurt that Harley goes the extra mile to take care of its customers when an issue with one of its bikes does arise.)
