I will take yours if Woody doesn't have one. Same thing happened to mine (frayed from end to end almost), but mine doesn't work at all anymore.

Wanting to buy: Anyone have a good used upper cord laying around like the one shown in the pic below? I'm in need of one. Mine quit working.

A recent article in the Kentucky Post reported that a woman, one Anne Maynard, has sued St Luke's hospital, saying that after her husband had surgery there, he lost all interest in sex. A hospital spokesman replied ... "Mr. Maynard was admitted in Ophthalmology – all we did was correct his eyesight.”

3 bars of gas in 41 miles
Eck replied to flyday58's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I strongly suggest you add a half can of sea foam to the gas tank, add fresh gas on top of the sea foam and run it again. Once you get down to a half tank add the rest of the sea foam and more fresh gas topping it off. Run it again. You should see an improvement in mileage. If not, then go for the sync.... My rationale: No use trying to sync first if there is anything gummed up in the fuel system. Clean it out first, then if mileage has not improved, press forward with the sync job. Good luck!! Eck -
Get the car seat cleaned before stain sets it...........

I was on the phone with my wife, when all of a sudden she said: OMG a plane just hit the WTC..I ran next door to my office to the break room where there was a tv and watched it. I yelled out the break room door for everyone to come in and watch it. I will never forget that day..

If you throw a small bug into the web, watch how fast that spider gets to it, grabs it and webs a cocoon around it..to not only kill it, but to save it for a rainy day...

You stated they had an earlier model Goldwing. Not sure if you meant like a 1200 or 1500 GW., or if you meant a 2001/2002 1800 model. It is a known problem on the 1800's. I just put a 2013 rear caliper on my 1800 about a month ago because my original old caliper I installed speed bleeders and I could not get them to seal. They would suck air and I would have to continually bleed the rear caliper. Anyway. that problem is now fixed, but the old caliper is still good and I plan on keeping it as a spare. Honda is recalling certain model year 2001-2010 and 2012 GL1800 and 2001-2005 GL1800A motorcycles for brake problems. Owners should be receiving notices in the mail shortly in the near future. I do not know if this was a common problem on the 1200's or 1500's http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=88588

Helpful info in case your Alternator goes out
Eck replied to Eck's topic in Honda Goldwing Tech Talk
(Quote = Mcararl) Best remember to unhook the bike battery, or else it will drain the extra battery. Maybe better to charge the bike battery, unhook anything not needed and then run all day. Seems easier to me anyways. -
Found the answer........ Carbon1 is correct..... Copied from link below: It is a #12 sized metric Allen socket. Hannigan provides a tool that is that size with a 3/4" hex head and just under 3" long. The hex end is so that you can attach a conventional lug wrench. You can buy a fold up type at one of the auto parts stores to keep in the trunk along with the tool See last post in this thread. http://www.triketalk.com/forum/threads/22787-Lug-nuts?p=248644

Why heck, I knew that.......... Really, I thought you were in an emergency situation and was trying to get it fixed right now. As mentioned above, take it down to any auto parts store and they will fix you right up with the correct socket head Allen wrench you need.

So sorry to hear this. Hate this type of news. Thoughts and prayers being sent

Copied from another site but felt it could be helpful information in the event one looses their alternator while out on the road. Should also work for Ventures or most any bike I would think... if you loose your Alt and can get to a auto parts store get a battery ( lawn mover battery will work) and some wire, terminals put the battery in your side bag run wires to you battery, pull fuse for headlight, turn off all electrical device and ride all day, if on the road and stop at motel take the battery into motel hook up to a small charger and ride another day.

Not sure what kind of tools you have laying around in your garage but if you can, grind down the head of a nut to fit inside the Allen head lug nut. Then attach TWO nuts to the shank of the bolt you just ground the head on. Tighten one nut against the other aligning the edges of the nuts in line with each other as you lock them together. You can use a long extension socket to ensure you have both nuts inside the socket and it should loosen/ tighten the lug nuts. Note: If you have room on the shank of the grounded bolt use three nuts aligning all three as you tighten them If you have a spot welder, you can just spot welds a nut to the shank of the grounded bolt. You now have a make-shift hand made Allen wrench Here is another way similar to above. Find a LONG bolt that you could grind the head down to fit the Allen head lug nut Grind the head down as needed to fit the lug nuts Use vice grips on shank of long bolt to loosen or tighten lug nuts. If the long bolt has room for three nuts tighten all three nuts together. Use a wrench on the nut closest to the head of the bolt to loosen the lug nuts. Use the nut closest to the end of the shank (farthest away from head of bolt) to tighten the lug nut. Another (easiest/ quickest) way: Grind the end of the SHANK, (the tip) of a long bolt down to fit the lug nut. Then use a socket on the head of the long bolt to tighten / loosen the lug nuts

Mike, do you have a set of calipers where you could measure the inside of the head of the nut to get a measurement?
-
I think they are allen wrench lug nuts but not positive. Not sure about the RSV though. The wheels on the GL 1500, and the GL 1800 are a 4 x 100 bolt pattern with 38 mm offset. o 15” x 7” Mag wheels Kumho radial tires...but you didn't ask about Goldwings..
