  1. Yea, I guess I have to figure out how to change the date and time on that camera of mine..Hummmm..:happy34:
  2. Another day in the saddle, about 195 miles, temp around 50 Degrees, a beautiful day in TN. on back roads.. I got to a say that I'm beginning to enjoy this!!!
  3. Cant say much more than what has already been said by all the others here. I am glad you are alive and able to tell us about this, and I hope you find out what caused such a special event... It sure wakes you up don't it.. Only takes a second and it can be over... Again, glad you are OK!!
  4. Wife texts husband on a cold winter's morning: "Windows frozen, won't open." Husband texts back: "Gently pour some lukewarm water over it and gently tap edges with hammer." Wife texts back 5 minutes later: "Computer really messed up now."
  5. This short vid tells al about it. Pretty neat place for a lunch M&E (coming soon when weather breaks)... The name has changed but it is still the same.. Tennessee Crossroads - Program Info / Watch
  6. Years ago I bought a car with a blown engine for my son. I let him know before I bough it that HE was the one going to swap out the engine.. I would help, but HE was the one that was going to do most of the labor.. He agreed. I bought the car, we removed the old engine. I went to a place that advertises that they perform an diagnostic engine run on every engine to ensure it runs with no burning oil, water leaks, blown gaskets or whatever.. I bought a 350 engine. It was mid winter, cold as heck, no heat in garage.. We installed the motor.. Started it up and it sounded great. We let it run for about 3 or 4 minutes and antifreeze was running out on the floor.. Got down under the car and saw water pouring out from between block and head..I went back to where I bought the engine and told the owner about my problem.. His answer: Well, just remove the engine and bring it back and I will have another one sitting here waiting for you..I said, no, why don't YOU go pull it out and YOU re-install it now. I did my job based on YOUR advertising.. He said nope, cant do that.. All in all I was left hanging with the task.. Never again..I will always buy a vehicle that I can get in, start it up and drive off. I dont want anymore problems for I have enough already. It is a good learing lesson for the kids though. My son learned a bunch on how to work on cars since then too. In fact, he is in a pickle right now with a front Universal joint replacement...I'm glad at times he lives in Australia....!!
  7. Got same urge....ARRGH...........:rotf::rotf:
  8. My mom was dropping me off at school and on the car radio is where her and I both heard that president Kennedy had been shot. My mom ran into the school and told the principal to turn on the radio. He turned on the loud speakers so the whole school could listen to the radio about Kennedy being shot and killed. ( I was 8 years old..in kindergarten ...:stickpoke:) 9/11 attacks: I was at work, my wife called me about something, and all of a sudden she started saying, OMG, OMG.. a plane just hit the tower in NY..I ran from my office telling everyone I passed to come with me to the snack room where there was a TV. All of us stood there in silence.
  9. (quote- cowpuc): Did you just happen into that area or was this a blind date? I wasn't really lost, per say, but I was on a road I have never been on before. I am enjoying the solo rides I have been taking going up into TN and trying to find the loneliest roads I can..I road on that road for several miles and only one pic-up truck came by me. Felt like I was the only one left in the world. I like the old barns/buildings and find them neat to look at in my pics after I get back home after a days ride.

  11. Took another ride up into TN., and found a few back roads I have never been on. The dates and time are not correct in the pics; Dates should be 02/04/15. I left home around 10am and got back home around 4pm. Burned up about 3/4 tank of gas.
  12. Nice ride!! Bet you know the angles and curves of that ride by heart. I see there are times when riding that you really DONT want the wind in your face.. In all honesty, you can have it... I did that same type of ride myself for many years and got to where I could not stand it anymore.. Had to move south..........
  13. Great job Mike!! Makes you want to keep on giving more don't it...Awesome!
  14. If you add a piece of steel screening to the "underside" of your repair project it also provides much more needed strength. Cut a piece of steel, (not plastic) screen that overlaps the break at least one inch on each side and ends. Mix up a two part ABS plastic epoxy (found at Lowes/ Home Depot) and apply a generous amount (to underside of repair) along the crack and out ward at least an inch on both sides & ends of the crack/ break. Working fast, while the two apart epoxy /mixture is still in its pliable state, align the piece of screen "centered" over the crack overlaying it one inch on both sides/ends of the crack and push the screen down into the plastic epoxy mixture. Use a tongue depressor (or like), and smooth the ABS epoxy over the screen as the epoxy squeezes out threw the screen. Once the epoxy is set up, I always mix and apply another "overcoat" which provides more strength and allows me to smoothe the repair out even more so and eliminates excessive sanding. The top/outside of the repair can be sanded and painted to match surrounding as was before the break occurred.
  15. Why do they call it a driveway.... yet you park in it and then they call it a parkway yet you drive on it?
  16. So that they can fully cover that pair of underware...........:
  17. It appears that those type do fold down in case you want to put a cover over your bike. Good choice! You can cut out two tennis balls and keep them in a side bag. When you want to put a cover over yoru bike you can take the tennis balls and slide them over each flag holder after it is folded down, to protect your bike cover from getting torn. I use a PVC pipe cap for mine.
  18. I was wondering the same thing cecdoo............
  19. Hey Charharly, I sure hope you are getting the information you need that will help you decide what type of bike you should get next out of all this. ...
  20. Computers are like air conditioners. They work fine until you start opening windows
  21. Found this HONDA related video that brought back many good memories of my younger years. Hope it brings you some good memories to you. It sure would be nice if the museum would open up here in the USA though...! Enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&x-yt-ts=1422579428&v=Cmw3LB-lvvg&x-yt-cl=85114404
  22. One constructive comment I hope to add in regards to your question: WHAT KIND OF TOURING BIKE SHOULD I GET NEXT... Be aware that when it comes to BMW's, there really aren't that many BMW (service) dealers available when touring the country. That being said, I would look at ALL types of touring bikes but before I pick any single one out, look to see the availability of related dealers through out the USA and or countries that I plan to tour in. Hope this info is found helpful to what you are asking
  23. Only you know what kind of riding you will be doing such as long long long distance or just some moderate distance and the around town riding. You know how much weight you can / want to handle and how much MORE weight you need to add to make those long distant rides. Pick a ride that suits you and read up on the technical issues of that model. Get to know your bike before you ever head out on the road..Know what tools / common parts you will need and always expect the unexpected. Good luck in your choice!
  24. Start counting backwards now.......(Best of luck that results are achieved)
