  1. I knew a guy (Al Boone) back in the 80's at Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, Ga., who claimed he could weld a feather on a ducks "arse" , and not burn it! Hope one day you can do the same with your new toy.
  2. Jester, not sure if you solved your problem yet (hope so), but if you are still having problems after completing what Craig suggested (above) here is something else that may be a cause. I don't know if you have a back rest or not. If you do, look behind the steel bracket of the back rest and see if the wire harness is being pinched that runs between the front of the REAR fender and the steel bracket of your backrest. On my 05 Venture, when I laid back on the backrest, it pinched the wire harness. I wedged a piece rubber between the steel bracket and the front part of the rear fender. Never had another problem with the wires after that. The piece of rubber I used was cut from an old piece of tire casing laying on the side of the road.
  3. Hey Don, yesterday, I thought hated my neighbors pressure washer. Two days ago, I borrowed his pressure washer to do my driveway. The day before yesterday, I pressure washed 1/2 my driveway. Yesterday, after getting back from a ride with Sleeperhawk, I decided to wash the other half. So...I filled it with gas, checked the oil, turned on the water, and I yanked and yanked and yanked the cord trying to start the darn thing. Now the day before it ran like a clock. So what could possibly be wrong? I remove the air cleaner, spray starting fluid and began yanking the cord another 8 to 10 times. I am now mad as a hornet, so I stood back looking at it, out of breath, my arm feels like it is ready to fall off, and I realize I forgot to turn the on/off switch to the on position... :stickpoke:DUH... Flipped the switch to the on position, pulled the cord one time and wha-lah..
  4. Decided I would change the oil myself in the Avalanche instead of taking it someplace to have it done. After I jacked the truck up and changed the oil filter, I removed the oil drain plug. The oil drain pan " I thought" was in a good place to catch the oil, as I have done this many times in my life. Well the oil, which looked like pure water, shot "way" over the pan splashing all over the floor, so I pushed the pan quickly under the draining oil. I now have about a 3ft circle of oil on the floor. Usually, I can remove the drain plug with out getting any oil on my fingers. Well this time as I pulled away with the plug in my fingers, I hit my elbow on the cross member and dropped the drain plug into the drain pan. Now I have oil running down wrist an to my elbow, so I quickly get out from under the truck and grab a rag. After cleaning off my arm, I go to climb back under the truck and don't you know the oil is now running on the floor in the place where I first had the drain pan. All in all I don't think I caught 2qts of oil in the drain pan. The other 5qts were all over the floor. What a mess...After cleaning the garage floor, mopping it with soap and hosing it off, I decided that this IS my last time changing oil in the Avalanche myself! I will be taking it someplace from now on. Now I just know I am not the only one here who has done this...
  5. * YOU DON"T KNOW ME Some think bikers are mean Some dressed in leathers and others in jeans You don't like our patches or the clothes that we wear You hate our bandannas and you hate our long hair You don't like our scooters and our loud noisy pipes You think we're not loyal to the stars and stripes You don't like our patches that are worn on our vests You think we're so different from all the rest But the truth is, Mister, we're kind of alike You drive a car and I ride a bike You have no tattoos painted on your arm But we fought side by side over in Nam So the next time your children are running around Enjoying their freedom and the fun that they've found Remember us bikers and all that we do We feed our lost veterans, we're Red, white and blue ! We bring toys for tots and toys for a smile By riding our bikes for miles and miles You see, us bikers have never forgot Our homeless veterans and our homeless tots We are loyal to our clubs and true to our bro's We will always wear black from our heads to our toes Society once said that long hair was for fags But you'll never see a biker burning a flag Now the tattoos and leather you don't understand Stands for free independence that us bikers demand Our long hair and patches and bikes with loud pipes is a tribute to our freedom, the Stars and Stripes So before you make up your mind on just what I might be Take a look in the mirror and what do you see? The man that you see that is staring right back Is not too much different from that biker in black.
  6. Yep, as @bongobobny said above, pretty wild Patti. I sure do hope your 5th wheel is fixed soon and correctly and you guys can get back to living in it again. Best wishes sent your way! Eck
  7. No way could I remove the key board. I know I would have a few screws left over..
  8. You could call it Bird, since it frees you (Freebird) when you ride it. Or --- Call it Dr. since it gives you the therapy you need..
  9. With all the money shortages the NYPD claim every year, I find it sad that they did not auction them off to someone like local motorcycle dealers only and keep the money.
  10. Are you really sure you want to brag about this @bongobobny :rotf:
  11. It's only a dream buddy......you can go back to sleep now !
  12. SO glad to hear from you Ed. As mentioned above, I too can only imagine what you and your family are going through. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. I wish you and your family the best in deciding where you guys want to live and pray the new adventure ahead begins with it the best chapter in your life with nothing but good times and memories.
  13. Is noise coming from top end or bottom end of the motor? If coming top end it could be a valve out of adjustment (slapping). If noise is coming from the bottom end, that could be serious. I know you said it runs fine, but check to see if you can see any smoke coming out the exhaust when you rev it up a little. DONT rev it up real high now. If you do see any type of smoke what color is it? (white or grey?) ... No smoke can be seen I hope!
  14. Thanks @Freebird, I just performed the above instructions because I do not want to go to windows 10 (yet anyway). Maybe near end of this year I may choose to though. Thanks again for posting!
  15. Well I took the advice of many here and ordered an outterbox for my new phone. It should be here by Weds next week. Now changing subject just a little here: When I purchased my new cell phone I went with Verizon and canceled BOOST. This was about three weeks ago. So today, I called my previous cell phone provider (BOOST) and explained to their customer rep that I had to place $50.00 into an account with them last year so that IF & WHEN, I called my son in Australia, the $50.00 was to be used towards the minutes I chewed up talking with my son. I Called my son one time and we spoke for at max, 4 minutes, and that I should have a balance in that account and want it refunded to me since I cancelled my account with them. The customer rep tells me: Sorry, but if you did not request your balance at the time you cancelled the account and went with another provider that they can not refund the money. Well after a heated conversation and several requests to speak to his manager, I was placed on hold.. 8 minutes later, I'm still oh hold.. I hung up.. Im out (I would think) around $30.00 to $35.00 I do not feel it is right for Boost to keep my money just because I cancelled them. I'm really "upset" about it and yet there is nothing I can do. The rep told me that once the account is cancelled, there is no way to go back into it to make any changes. He said all cell companies are set up like this. I'm not saying all cell companies are like this, but if you decide to cancel your present cell provider, make darn sure you get what's coming to you BEFORE you tell them to cancel your account!.
  16. @djh3, just a suggestion here in case you have not tried this. Remove the battery and do not re-install it for 5 minutes. My LG 4 has been already acting up where the screen brightness goes real dark by itself. I removed the battery on mine and re-installed it about 5 minutes later and it works like it did when I first got it. Just a suggestion if you have not tried it on yours. Good luck!
  17. I have been reviewing the otter box and will be making a choice on one soon, thanks to GA and all the other comments above. Thanks for the input from all.
  18. I took the chrome top / cap off an ink pen. Drilled the hole a little larger to match the diameter if a mini push button switch. I then wired up the mini switch and slid it into the ink pen chrome top piece. The wires were about 2ft long. I then filled the chrome top piece with black RTV to make it water proof. The mini switch was then mounted on the left handle bar just in front of clutch lever (see attached Pic- Ref: RED button switch) I took a mini garage door opener and snapped it apart and soldered the 2 wires from my mini switch to the circuit board with the 2 wires that go to the garage door opener switch. I used the hot soldering iron and melted a very small hole in the garage door opener providing access for the 2 wires and the plastic case could snap back together. I used black RTV inside and on th eoutside fo the garage door opener around the two wires making it water proof. Using Velcro, I mounted the garage door opened on the inside of the fairing on the left side just above the 12 volt accessory supply. Even in the rain or washing the bike I never had an issue with it. See attached pic of mini switch made from chrome ink pen cap.
  19. I think Im going to take stock out on cell phones.. Let me first say, NO...I did not wash this cell phone in the washing machine.. (Newbies wont understand this comment but many here do..) While on our recent trip out west, my LG6 phone began acting up. Every time I wanted to use it something was wrong with the phone. When we go up into SD, WY, UT, Washington state I had no cell service.. I was without service for 5 days. My provider was Boost, so my wife and I stopped in at a Wal-Mart and while she was shopping for some snacks and things I went to the electronics / cell phone area and began looking at cell phones. This young man offered me some help and I began asking a lot of questions and telling him my problems. Long story short, he sold me a new phone with Verizon as the service provider. I have had service ever since buying this phone in Oregon. No matter where we were at, I seemed to have cell service even at times my wife did not have service on her phone. My new cell phone is a LG4. A much smaller phone then the LG6 which did not fit in my pocket. The LG4 does fit in either front or rear pocket. I carry it in my front pocket because I don't want to sit on it. So far I'm a happy camper with this one... Now to just keep it away from the washing machine.
  20. And here I was waiting for the technical help video on How Too....... Glad you got it changed Skid. Bet the newer bulb is a lot brighter.
  21. Yea man, I get that excited every time I plan to attend a ride or M&E of any kind. It never fails. The night before taking off on the trip I cant sleep at all and end up leaving around 4am. By time I get to where I am supposed to be, I am pooped..Then second wind kicks in and I make it through the day. Ride safe on your trip. Watch for animals of ALL kinds..especially the human kind. They tend to surprise you when your not paying attention. Looking forward to seeing some pics.
  22. @Mad Dog, I sent you a P-Email with a couple links which include pics and instructions.
