Had me going there for a minute until I found the road..(Vietnam)... I pulled it up on Google maps.. Very nice looking ride bud!!

I don't care how many times one changes the air filter on their Goldwing it is still a royal pain in the ah--behind. Tore it down and while the old air filter was out, I made two round screens and folded them around and over the two carb inlets at the bottom of the air box. I used ty-wraps around them to secure them to the lip of the carb inlets. Then while I had the left & right air ducts off, I cut some more screen and folded it over and around the front/forward ends and again used ty-wraps to secure those. Now I know a mouse will not be able to get in there to build a nest, as I have seen so many other wings have. My wing really doesn't sit long enough for a mouse to get in it but hey, I know its sealed up for good now. After I reassembled the cowling I happen to accidently push in on my four way flasher switch.. Dang if it didn't stick in the on position. I could not free it up, so I had to stop and take that switch apart and clean it all up, even though that wasn't part of my pre-planned program I had in mind. Finally, got every thing reassemble and intact so I then decided to change the oil and oil filter while I was working on it. Total time for everything was 3.5 hours, but I had to stop and air up some kids bicycle tires too... Whew.. just had my shower and now it is time to eat... Man I am hungry!!!!!!!!

Not sure what type of oil filter wrench you have, but I have always been able to remove any oil filter using a rubber strap wrench. The harder you push on it the tighter it gets, provided the oil filter is clean on exterior surface. Out of the two wrenches shown in this link, I have never had to use the larger one. $5.00 at Harbor Freight- http://www.harborfreight.com/2-pc-rubber-strap-wrench-set-69373.html

I created a folder of "Rides by State" and inside that folder I have folders for every state. Every time someone posts a memorable ride that they went on, I copy it and add it to that state folder. This will help me when I get to ride in state.....so keep them coming

Sounds like he really doesn't want to sell it.. I wish mine had the corvette engine in it but it has the small v8. It would strain like heck to pull an enclosed trailer, but I don't have a need to pull anything with it so its fine for us especially on LONG rides.. Very comfortable and roomy!! I really like ours.

First off, I am glad to hear you are ok and that no accident occurred causing you (or anyone else) harm. Second, As I was reading every post in this thread I was getting ready to post my own thoughts of not getting a used motor and asking if the dealer could come up with a swap/trade deal even if he had to contact other Yamaha dealers to see what they had on the floor. I see now you already did a swap and your new ride looks really nice. I think you will like it more than you did your white RSTD by far, (especially if/when riding in the rain). Again, glad you are OK bkn..

Slowrollwv, I have come to find that out over the last 8 years. Every year my best friend and I take a good 5 day to 15 day ride through as many roads as we can find in WV and into VA. We plan on going back again this year sometime too.. Dan, you can pull out of the garage now............ Beautiful!!!!!! I just added HWY-50 just outside of Salida to my list of Colorado rides..

Here is mine. A little history first: One day while attending the VR.Org international rally in Ft. Collins, Co., three of us decided to go on an adventure ride. There was, who many here remember, Lowell (The Ambassador / Wild hair), Dave (Swifty), and I. On this day, Lowell said he would lead since he had a new Lowrance GPS unit. I was the tail gunner. Off we went. After about 40 miles we notice the lines on the pavement stopped but we were still on pavement.. then the pavement stopped but we were on a tar & chipped stone packed road..All of a sudden, Lowell stops Dave pulls on one side of Lowell and I pull up on the opposite side of Lowell. The road ahead is nothing but dirt. Dry dirt. Lowell says: I don't know guys, but my GPS says it is a through road. Dave said, lets go for it. Im looking at my super clean RSV and thinking your kidding me. Lowell takes off, Dave pulls out behind him and the dust is flying. I sat wondering should I or should I not.. I down shifted and into the dust cloud I went following along. Dave drops back from Lowell because he could not see due to the dust cloud, I drop father back for same reason, and I am so far back now that I don't see Dave or Lowell but there is absolutely no place to turn around so I kept going. What a beautiful view I see coming up, and as I go around the corner another view outdoes the last one. I have never ridden a challenging road such as this and I am not so sure I would ever do it again. It was very dangerous for we were not on the type of bike needed for such a road. Luckily, we made it and when we returned to the VFW in Ft. Collins to meet up with everyone else later on that day, someone came up to me and asked: So Eck, where did you guys ride to today? I said man I couldn't tell you where we were but we ended up on some old dirt road that was unreal. Old gold mining town we passed through. Many times I had to walk my bike around hairpin turns as I read my license plate and at same time almost looking straight down over the edge of the mountain. No guard rails or anything to stop you from going over the edge. I'm just glad my brakes worked. He said I know right where you were and I have been on that road myself. I joined back in 05, went through the site crash were everything was lost, as many others back then did, and we all thought "OH NO"....but thanks to Don's determination it was back up and running in no time. You have done a great job with this site Don and you should be damn proud of your self and accomplishments with it over the years. Because of your dreams and constant efforts to succeed, you have made it possible for strangers to become life long friends. I have made many friends here, and a few didn't work out for whatever reasons, but such is the same in the employment world, some like you and you get along and some don't like you...so be it. I have met many life long friends here since 05 and we still communicate and some years we still meet up and go for a ride, have a bite to eat and enjoy the time. Others I have posted with here for years and still have not had the opportunity to meet up with yet and still hope someday our roads cross paths. Every morning, I get my cup of coffee, sit down and read emails, then I'm here checking out what is new at VR.Org. I cant wait to have my morning coffee and I cant wait to get on VR.Org. I have lived like this since I joined and it is an every day occurrence even if I am out on a long week ride traveling, I take VR.Org with me. I hope to meet up with all the new members one day too, but until then I ask that you all ride safe!...

I wonder how many other Venture riders are having the same issue because of the same cause??? This is good tech article information and should be written up with some pictures for others to check out on their bikes who have this problem with backfiring and the smell of gasoline.

George, I have no idea what it is. Other info: I can not see a darn thing on my cheap cell phone so any pictures you send to my cell phone is a lost cause.. They are way to small fro me to see.

If I'm not mistaking here, the 8.1 big block is the corvette engine. Wish mine had it..I am happy with mine for what I use it for though. I don't pull a trailer and if I do it is a flat U-Haul to haul my wing if Konnie and I want to go someplace far from home. It pulls the motorcycle trailer ok, but I would not want to pull an enclosed trailer with it, (very far anyway). If you need tires, I have two with lots of tread on them - size 20"
