I was sitting here at the desk reading threads. All of a sudden, a bunch of commotion began UNDER the desk where my feet were. Man I couldn't jump back fast enough and get out of that chair. Heart pounding like mad.. Come to find out the wife bought a new ream of printing paper and she stood it up on the floor next to the small trash can I have under the desk. The ream of paper decided to fall over by itself knocking the trashcan over on my right foot and by the time the trash can hit the floor I was across the kitchen.. Man, I'm STILL breathing hard..WHEW........OK, now I can laugh about it...............

I had problems with my radio & CB on my 05 RSV, and it I found it to be the wire harness right behind the back rest that is between the rear fender and the steel bracket for the back rest. I wedged a 1' x 2' piece of old used tire rubber (found on side of road & cut to size with hack saw) between the backrest steel mounting bracket and the rear fender and my radio & CB never gave me another problem. Cant say this is YOUR problem but for $800.00 I would be willing to test it out and see if a small piece of rubber would be causing your issue. I also had to have my display unit replaced (under warranty) because it was getting water inside / under the clear lens

I wish Konnie would ride, but she just don't like it. I want to take her to all kinds of places but she always wants to take the Avalanche, and I hate riding in a cage..(except when it is raining)..

Alternators are known to go on Goldwing's. Some last over 100k and some don't. One never knows when it will go out and there is no warning. Just like your cage. However, just like your cage has, it is wise to install a volt (or amp) meter and keep an eye on it. When you see it dropping you know it's time to head towards town...or an alternator rebuild shop. I know several GW owners who carry a spare alternator in their trailer when on long trips just for this reason. I am looking for an old alternator now so I can have it rebuilt and ready to go. Relays "A" and "B" are also know troubles on wings. I carry new ones (of each) in my side bag.

Those of us that ride Wings have all heard about a friend who's alternator went out when away from home. In this case, a buddy system works just fine to get that bike into town if your buddy is riding with you. When your Alternator dies and your engine is running, it will continue to run until the battery dies, and it will not, of course, recharge that battery. Then your bike dies and you pull to the side of the road. What to do? You swap batteries with your buddy! Pull all unnecessary fuses (particularly the headlight fuse if there is daylight) and turn off those driving lights, then start your Wing. Jump start your buddy's bike with the 'dead' battery, (you can push start it in second gear with key in the on position) then drive away until the new battery slowly dies off. The good alternator in your friend's bike will charge, at least partially, that 'dead' battery sufficiently so that when it is time to do the swap again you can do it and get the bikes started again. You might have to do this a few times, of course. Naturally, if you are riding in a group of more than two, you use any of the full function bikes to originate the jump start from.

as for the biker to speed up, I have seen that many times and not by only those who ride Harleys. I have also seen people passing on double yellow lines with kids in the vehicle and cant figure out why they would do that.

I read this post on another site and thought I would share it here in hopes it may help someone before it's too late -- food for thought.. Hypothetically speaking, let's say you were given a free product for your wing. Maybe you received it as part of a promotion, or you won a raffle at a motorcycle gathering. Even though you have to modify your wing.to accommodate the product, it is a piece of cake to install. However, on your first trip with the new product, it fails. Given such a premature failure you contact the manufacturer only to learn they do not offer warranties on products that they provided "free of charge". Sooo, now you have a product that doesn't work and is not warranted, and you have permanent scars (maybe holes in the fairing, etc.) to your valuable motorcycle. This very thing happened to me and, without pointing fingers, I wanted to provide a heads-up so that all might think of such an occurrence should this happens to them. This would really upset me if I drilled holes or modified any part on my bike only to find out the "free" item doesn't work, then find out the manufacturer don't offer a warrantee on that free item..

I would have the muffler tips all gouged, scratched, dented in if it were mine. Looks like the tips will touch the road very easy when being a little aggressive incurves as seen in the video..

Darn Cowpuc, I thought when I read your title that you were going to tell us you were thinking of coming out of the closet or something weird was going on health wise... -
You are correct. The instructions say to run water thru the system for two minutes after changing the filter. When I started running the water after installing the new filter I could not believe all the black charcoal / debris that came out. Now it is clear as can be..

Bought an LG refrigerator 13 years ago. For years, I have been pulling the fridge out from the wall, shutting off the water, changing the filter, turning water back on and pushing it back in its place. Today, I purchased another new water filter. When I got home the end cap didn't look exactly the same as the old one still in the fridge so I asked my wife to get me the book/paperwork on the fridge which she filed 13 yrs ago. She brings it to me and I looked up the water filter replacement part number and sure enough, I did purchase the correct one. As I kept reading the instructions on how to change the water filter I find out that I don't need to pull the fridge out and shut the water off.. All I have to do is turn the darn filter 1/2 turn counter clockwise, remove it, insert the new one and turn in 1/2 turn clockwise and I'm done...Didn't take me 30 seconds to change it. All these years I have pulling the fridge out thinking I had to shut the water off first. The fridge is so heavy the rollers left even marks in the floor linoleum that would never have been there if I read the instructions. I guess it does pay to read the instructions like my dad told me to do.....dang..he was always right...

Thanks Dennis. I already had Hwy 212 from Beartooth thru Cook city on to Mammoth Hot Springs. I just did a map search on the "Going to the sun highway" and wow, that really looks like a keeper and a must do. It is now on my list. Thanks

Sending you a get well prayer in this post and best wishes and hopes that you have a full recovery buddy. A few things to ponder: You wont be able to snap, or button, those pants, and you cant fasten that belt either, so wear elastic waist garments, but it will still be a task to pull them up (or down), so go naked, and don't laugh, cough, "sneeze"....or eat anything that will give you gas....(ask me how I know these things.......).. Gosh man, I feel for ya.. been there an down a T shirt...
