  1. Make sure you take along: A charged up cell phone and a charger. Spare / extra fuses for the bike A spare head light bulb Rain Gear Check for stock tool pouch (Should be in the left side bag) Tire plugs/ plug tools and an air pump (just for emergency). There is a 12 volt plug on left side of inner fairing (behind clutch lever) for the air pump, or hook directly to battery is what I would do. Cash /ATM card. And most importantly, please tell someone what routes you are taking and where you are headed in case something happens they know where to look for you. I have read way too many times where someone gets on their bike (solo) and heads off on a trip and never made it due to running off the road down over an embankment only to be found days later..

    Almost done

Well, here is the finished product.. I gave it another clear coat today and touched up a couple spray can spits & sputters. I just now got it re-installed on my wing where it is drying.
  5. So sorry to hear such news. Just glad you are ok Gary.
  6. Sure would like to find some more of this stuff.....It comes in handy...

    Almost done

Just a spray can of silver paint then a spray can of clear from WalMart. I'm sure the trunk will get a few nicks and bumps here and there from debris off the rear tire anyway, so I'm not to interested in a professional paint job on it.

    Almost done

Let me know when you have it all sanded down Dan and I'll come up and do it for you.

    Almost done

Applied final coat of Silver and three coats of clear.. removed masking and then reassembled it. Now Im waiting for it to dry before I remount it on the bike. The screwdriver is holding lid from trunk so the seam area can dry properly...
  10. You can shift the bike upward without using the clutch at all. When you are ready to shift to a higher gear (as in normal shifting), just let off the throttle a little bit and at same time pull up on shifter. It will / should slide right into gear easily. I used to shift like this 70% of the time when I was riding my RSV. You can feel it sliding into gear as you pull up on the shifter. It is a timing / feel thing if that makes sense. After a few times shifting like this you will get the hang of it easily. It will not hurt the trans or the clutch provided you don't "force" the shifter upward. You lightly pull up on the shifter as you let off the throttle and you will see how easily it shifts. You can also down shift this way, but since your said you can down shift using the clutch then I would. I do this same shifting on my wing without using the clutch. It works on most any vehicle really.
  11. Freebird, I have never brewed any beer, however my son has been brewing beer for about 6 years now. I just sent him an email asking him for his lessons learned. If/ when he replies I will forward to you. Best I can do on the subject other than be your official "taste tester"...............: Edit: My son just sent his reply...here it is. Keep it at 21°-27°C If it's too gassy it means too much of the priming sugar was used Lack of head means too much water was used If his equipment wasn't sanitized properly it'll have a white skin or sour taste. (That means it has an infection)...........
  12. That's was the place.. (Wish my memory was near as good...) ha
  13. (Quote) This was a bad situation so we pulled over and waited the mess out. Im sure you knew this was becoming a bad situation way before it did. When their is a large group like this I just pull over and get out and stretch and buy some time to let them have the road and get way ahead of me. I mean they surely aren't going to pull over and let all the traffic go ...We all know that from the start as soon as we get behind them. When I lead large or small groups I don't like cages to squeeze in the group either., It makes it very unsafe in my opinion. I think you finally did the right thing by pulling over.
  14. Tilex mold and mildew remover or you could try WD-40. It removes a multitude of sins with zero damage.
  15. You are correct my friend!! I knew when I posted this that it would be you who would remember..! I don't remember the restaurant s name either (something BBQ), but when we all left there that is when Muffin man dropped his first gen pulling out of the parking lot and mini hurt her elbow and shoulder and she was taken to the hospital too if I remember correctly. (sorry Jeff, Its just another memory I had)

  17. An elderly Irish man lay dying on his bed. While suffering the agonies of impending death, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favorite cheese scones wafting up the stairs. He gathered his remaining strength, and lifted himself from the bed. Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom and, with even greater effort, gripping the railing with both hands, he crawled downstairs. With labored breath, he leaned against the doorframe, gazing into the kitchen. Were it not for deaths agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven, for there, spread out upon the waxed paper of the the kitchen table, were dozens of his favorite scones. Was it heaven? Or was it one final act of heroic love from his devoted Irish wife of sixty years, seeing to it that he left this world a happy man? Mustering one great effort, he threw himself towards the table, landing on his knees in a rumpled posture. His parched lips parted. He could almost taste the cheese scone before it was in his mouth, seemingly bringing him back to life. The aged and withered hand trembled on its way to the nearest scone at the edge of the table, when his hand was suddenly smacked with a spatula by his wife... "Clear off" she said, "They're for the funeral."

  20. Funny, when I posted the 1st post in this thread, I said: Post here if you were HERE back then... meaning, who was at "the place" where the signatures were put on the dollar bill and where WAS the dollar bill placed at after all the signatures were signed on it.????? Anybody Know?? ( I do) I didn't mean who was here before the crash. (but I too was here before the crash)
  21. So who all was here back then??? Edited for clarity: (When the dollar bill was signed, where was it signed (city)..and where you here back then?)

  23. You can tell that the connector was pulled straight off. The ground (green wire) ALWAYS goes to the center tab (which is turned opposite of the other two tabs) as seen in photo# 1925
  24. Not sure if you can find a clear enough picture within this PDF file or not for what you are looking for. Hope it helps.. http://m.yamahaventure.nl/pdf/99-09xvz13tfelectricalinfo.pdf Here are a couple pics but not sure they will help.
