I am assuming you are speaking of the inner fairing. To loosen this section of the fairing would be hard (for me anyway) to explain since I really don't work on the RSV's anymore or very little. I vaguely remember removing the head light and head light bracket, then there are two bolts behind this bracket that hold the inner fairing on. I remember "marking" and then disconnecting wire harnesses too to make room to move the inner fairing. Someone else may jump in here shortly to help you. Hang in there, I'm sure you thread will be noticed by someone with greater knowledge than I have. I forgot more than I knew about the RSV's.....

Midnightrider1300, I deleted your other (duplicate) thread to avoid confusion.

Bump.. Just wondering if anyone took the annual VR in memory of ride today?
-
In all honesty, I was not able to go for a ride today, however I visited the Venturerider memorial section which sure got me thinking of who I had the opportunity to meet with and ride with. As I sat in silence I gave thought to all the VR family losses we have had over the years, even those whom I never met, but heard of or even read their posts here on the site. My heart goes out to all those who have lost loved ones and or friends. I pray you have the strength and courage to move forward in life and that peace be with you. Eck

People often complain about the police, but you rarely hear about the positive things they do, such as this incident involving a biker and a frozen carburetor. Last January on a bitterly cold winter's day, a North Dakota State Trooper on patrol came upon a motorcyclist who was stalled by the roadside. The biker was swathed in heavy protective clothing and wearing a full-face helmet to protect the face from the cold weather. “What’s the matter? asked the Trooper "Carburetor's frozen," was the terse reply. "Pee on it. That'll thaw it out." "I can't," said the biker. "OK, watch me closely and I'll show you." The Trooper unzipped and promptly warmed the carburetor as promised. Moments later the bike started and the rider drove off, waving. A few days later, the local State Troopers’ office received a note of thanks from the father of the motorcyclist. It began: "On behalf of my daughter Jill..."

Just curious, How many Wing Riders do we have on the site?
Eck replied to Midrsv's topic in Honda Goldwing Tech Talk
Bill, You have a nice looking ride there bud. Hope it brings you many miles of sweet memories. Mine is the exact same color. -
This coming Saturday is our annual Venturerider "In Memory Of" ride day. This is where each of us (who can) take a ride in memory of a VR family member or a loved one that we have lost along life's path. If you wish, you can keep track of the mileage traveled, towns rode to or through, places you stopped to eat at, or even take photos. After you return home, feel free to post your memorial days ride here in this thread titled:2015 Annual VR "In Memory Of" ride day. Ride safe! Eck

My pet peeve's: Toilet paper must roll off the top....not the bottom.. I hate looking for the end of the roll when it is coming off the bottom. I will always change the roll to where it rolls off the top. Neighbors who wont edge their side walks and drive ways as the rest of us do in an effort to make the area look better. People who don't get out of their pajamas when leaving the house to go to the store or restaurant- this really sets a great example for their kids People who pick their nose while at a red light. Young kids who wont hold a door open for my wife as we walk up to the door. They just walk out and let it close with no respect for their elders at all. Tail gaiters...I cant stand them.. Motel room coffee pots... You just can't pour a cup of coffee with out the coffee running all over the counter. Edit- I just had to add this one: Dot placing those orange barrels for 10 miles down the interstate creating one lane and a traffic jam from "H", and yet they are only working on a 30 ft section of hwy....or they aren't even working that week due to weather..

I'm having thoughts of what to do and not sure if I want to throw in the towel on riding or just stop riding for a little while in hopes the feeling comes back... I have been blessed over the years when it comes to riding. Seen thousands of miles of beautiful scenery, lakes, mountains, streams, bridges, barns, wild life and I met so many people I forgot most all their names. I have lived through two major motorcycle accidents and I'm still able to walk, talk and ride. What more can anyone ask for? Should I keep pushing my luck? I just got back from a 9 day tour. My best friend and I cut our trip short due to fatigue and loss of interest to continue on. Sounds weird I guess, but all the things we were seeing began to blend together. The mountains all looked the same, the rivers, streams, farms, valleys, even the skies all seemed to become the same. Even the curves all seemed to be identical no matter where we rode. Nothing was realy the same but yet everything appeared like we were going nowhere. I started having deep thoughts as to why should I continue riding. My riding buddy felt the same as I did. We discussed continuing our tour rather deeply and how we both felt about riding in the coming future years. Our excitement of riding diminished. We had no eagerness of tomorrows ride, or the days ride after that. He and I both decided to go home the next morning. I was not upset with him as he was not upset with me. We just both got tired of riding and had enough. So, has that ever happened to any of you? What happened to us? I have no idea. I decided to just stop riding for a little while and see what happens. Maybe the excitement of riding will come back. I have never lost it once in all the years I have been riding so that is why this feeling is new to me. I have never felt like this before.

Rick, I do not have a heated seat. It is just a stock 2002 GW Seat. I may not have to mail it to you either... I am working on plans now to make a trip to west of Dallas in November and would be going on a 4 to 5 day ride with Masterguns. Exact dates are not known at this time but I will work that out and get back with you as soon as I can after discussing with Masterguns. My 20th anniversary is November 21st so I know that week/ weekend will be out no matter what...(if you know what I mean)... If everything works out where I do go on this trip, I could just bring the seat with me and drop it off at you house. I'm not sure how much time you would need to do your thing, but if I come back in 4 to 5 days after dropping it off would you be able to do something like this? No need for a box and no need for you to make a trip to the post office to ship it back. Oh, by the way...what would you charge to over stuff a stock seat or whatever you do to them? You can email me your price here on the site if you wish, or you can call me at 256-four two nine-86 two three. Eck Many thanks for the quick reply. Oh, Im heading out in the morning on a 10 to 15 day tour so I may not respond near as quick as you did..ha

They love it that they come with the cassette player.............

SOOOOoooooo glad you are doing much better Rick. It's been a long journey for you. Question here: Do you rework Goldwing 1800 seats, like adding more padding since I don't have much meat on my behind...I always feel like I am sitting on a rock.. Now I have been called a fat butt before ...but when ever I heard some one say that, I knew right then that they really didn't know what they were talking about....

This place does exactly what you are looking for. Here is "part of" their advertisement. [h=2]Dents on Motorcycles[/h]Being a motorcycle enthusiast I enjoy removing dents from fenders, and yes most gas tanks. The heavier gauged metal used on motorcycles requires different tools, equipment, and bit more patience. Winter is a great time to have repairs made on your bike. Tanks (completely drained of fuel) and fenders need to be removed and be generally clean, then delivered or shipped to me. Please email or call me for instructions and requirements about this quality service. Just snap some pictures to best show the damage and email them to me at popmydent@gmail.com or text them to 414-520-8450. I'll get the estimate back to you by the next business day. 146 S 92nd St, Milwaukee, WI 53214 (414) 520-8450 http://www.popmydent.com/

Point of tragic interest,,, THANK GOD no one was injured..

Unreal.. Glad everyone is OK -
I would go to a local towing company (or any auto scrap yard), and ask them if they have any scrap pieces of ABS plastic parts that they picked up off the road after an accident.. They would most likely give you a large part of a front or rear bumper and you can cut several pieces out of it to fit that vent hole. You might even find a piece pretty close to the color you want too. Watch on the side of any interstate for pieces of ABS plastic parts. I see them all the time.

(Quote) A little trick that helps those new to backing a trailer, place your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel and just turn it the direction that you want the trailer to go. Steering from the top takes a bit more practice as it's counter to what you are used to. Well I'll be darned. All these years of driving and backing trailers up, and I have never heard of this little trick and never once gave it any thought. That sure would make it a lot easier than what I have been doing with my hand on the top of the steering wheel. This same trick should work on my John Deere riding lawn mower when backing a trailer up. I just have to go try this out. And they say you can't teach a old dog new tricks. Phooey..... Now as for my Goldwing....I have to think of a way to remove the handlebars and mount a steering wheel on it. I always have issues when I try backing up my bushtec trailer..........

I find it very hard to hold back that instant road rage when things like that happen, but now a days you really have to be careful what you do and or say for there are some who will shoot you in a blind second and think nothing of it. Glad your OK and that you calmed down to let her go..

Paul, I wish you the best in your new adventures. I know you have had a rough time. Next time we meet up, we can have a few colds ones again!!

jonesy, Sometimes the words "Thank you" just aren't enough when trying to thank someone for taking that step to go above and beyond in trying to help someone. I wanted to take a moment to post this thread and give you a SPECIAL THANK's for all your help, advice and suggestions this morning. After last evening, being up much of the night, and most of this morning, I have you (and HP) to thank for getting me hooked back up. Again, Many thanks my friend! I owe you! Eck

Let the discussion begin.

I will patiently wait to see what they come out with, but you can go to the bank that I am not going to rush out and buying a new bike just because Yamaha finally got rid of the cassette player. I love my wing and it serves me fine for all my needs. I waited for Yamaha and if they do have electron ignition, 1700cc or better, and water cooled, I would wait to see what the pros & cons are about them first before pulling the trigger on one. -
My son would be paying the $500 deductible for sure, and he would be helping me remove and replace every part on the bike. I took my dads bike one time. I marked the floor where the tires and kickstand were, and disconnected the speedometer cable. Off I went all day riding.. stopped at the gas station and filled it back up, put it back in the garage aligning tires and stand back in same place. Later that evening my dad said:Well, did you enjoy riding my bike. I said WHAT?? He said next time please reconnect the speedometer...duh............I never again took his bike or anything else...
