Changing the Fuel Filter
Eck replied to Black Ice's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have heard it it a royal PITA.........to change out... I am about to tackle that task this weekend, but I am thinking of installing a piece of steel tubing in the gas line hose in the same place of the existing fuel filter, and then installing an "inline filter" right next to the gas on/off valve under the left hand side of the gas tank... A one time PITA, but then it would be a simple task from then on. -

Its a normal sound for RSV's..I have an 05 and it to does it. Thay all make loud clicking and knocking sounds when cold, and I agree with yuo that these are the noisiest bikes I have ever owned!!!!! But I wont get rid of mine for anything....(ops..never say.. I wont...) They all seem to do it first thing in the morning...and then only if the bike sits for about 3 hours..nothing to worry about... I just dont rev the blazis out of it or run it hard at all until the sound disappears...

Boo, Im surprised that his Venture has enough electrical power (charging system) to operate the extra lights on that side car..... bet its running at max output all the time.

Curt, No need to worry about a thing. As long as you have a remote garage door opener, I will have everything else to get you hooked up...I will be bringing my pencil tip soldering gun, wire solder, a mini switch, needed wire, and the RTV adhesive to attach the switch to your turn signal & head light housing... I'll pick up the mini switch tomorrow and the same type of black wire I used for the one I made for Bill04 in canada. I sure wish I would have used the same wire on my bike, but to late now. Im not about to re-do mine all over just to change the type of wire..ha I certainly do hope the weather turns out to be ok for Lapryor and his friend to come over Friday night too.... As for all the others in the Huntsville area, I will be calling them tonight and tomorrow night to make sure they are still meeting up sat morning and going. I will send you a private email, or hey, I just might even call you Friday night to top off the saturday plans. You take care my friend! I will bring everything you need with me, to wire up your remote!

Curt, I will be most happy to pick up a push button switch for you. I have to go pick one up for a guy in Florida anyway and make him up a remote door opener now.. Hell, nothing like getting into a non-profit business ...lol I will also bring the wire I use and if you want we can solder yours up and install it to while Im there..

Bill, How are you? Hey, I have tried to send you email, and so has my wife, but for some reason they keep coming back undeliverable?? I just sent you another one through the VR site here.. we will see if you get that one. I was wondering if you recieved the mini garage door remote yet? I mailed it to you on April 19th, so you should have recieved it by now. The cost of the GENIE mini remote was: $30.97 plus 2.48 in tax, = $33.45 ADD the $2.00 shipping $36.00 total Please let me know Eck

OPs........you guys are absolutely correct............ There are three small tabs that you have to bend.... there are no screws on this chrome ring.... (its been a while since I had mine apart) Maybe this will help clear things up a little too. Here is the link to a tech article I did a while back. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=498 In photo # 3 , you can see the chrome ring in the far left rear corner of the towel. You can barely make out the small tabs on the ring. In Photo # 7, you can see what it is supposed to look like when you are done installing the chrome dome on the head light assembly. And photo # 8 is what it looks like when the fairing has been put back together and your done!.

times up...........wheres the pics???????? lol..............

Boo, I'm more interested in what your koozie says.............lol....
-
To do it with out damageing the new headlight dome, it is best to split the fairing, then "loosen" the head light "chrome ring" attach screws, slide the dome in under the chrome ring and tighten the attach screws back up, then put yuor fairing back together.
