YEP.........you got it Ed Genes idea looks a lot stronger than my plastic thumb screws, as long as the key ring doesnt come out of the bolt head.

Looks like you have the time to create a "Susuki web site"

Great idea Gene!!! I inquired about "sample" metric plastic cap thumb screws from a supplier in Calif last year. He agreed to send me (6) short and (2) long 6mm thumb screws to see if they would work on my bike in hopes of me placing an order for more. Well they work fine I must say... SO, I called back and inquired about a bulk rate and offer them here on the site to those interested. The jerk comes back with a price of $9.00 each... I told him what I thought and hung up. At least I got mine for nothing, but that was not my intent..

Pictures are always welcome and if accompainied by supporting written instructions (as in a tech article), would be helpful when placed in the tech section for future reference and use by others. :thumbsup2:

Just a thought here, but I would hold on to it until you test ride your bike for a while, (like a couple months), then answer it with pure honestly... This gives adiquate you time to see if you end up with the irritating whine, or any other cuss word issues, or if your completely satisfied as I am.

How about guessing where LA will make his next stop... LA is always on the road.. we could all try to guess his next move/stop. However, whoever he calls (or stops at), for the night are eliminated from this contest for that day/ night..and further more, can not be included in his NEXT stop. I can coordinate this with LA, and explain to him that he can not tell anyone where he will be going next. Whatever members home he stops at (or calls) can not enter this contest for that night or his next move. Whenever LA makes one of his contest stops...he uses the members computer and says where he is. Example: Like last night, LA called me. He WAS in Huntsville. He is now on his way to NC to see his cousin for a couple days.. Now just knowing this excludes me from this contest. Once LA leaves NC, I am still out of the contest since I have an idea on where he is heading next...(barber museum, Birmingham) to my Alabama meet & eat... Again, I am out of the contest and can not post my guess. Once LA leaves from the meet & eat, Im back in the contest since I do not know where he is going next. I can coordinate the contest rules with LA at my meet & eat, so he does not tell me or anyone where he will be going next..once he gets where he is going, he uses a computer and posts where he is at. Whoever guess that place wins. If no one guessed that place, the contest is still on until someone does guess his next move.

Your right on ..with the tight security...just think of the long lines if the same type security was used at an airport, prior to boarding.. I have what they call a "smart badge" that was issued to methat I carry.. It has just about everything about me on it.. It is my security pass through the gate every day and night at work and it has my Sex, Color, weight, picture ID, SS#..you name it.. All I do is swipe the badge as you would a credit card, and a guard looks at me though a camera and matches my picture on his computer and the guard opens the gate for me...all electronic..!

My job takes me to the launch pad at the cape in Florida or the launch pad in Vandenburg Calif. I have also have been to other Boeing facilities in Calif and Ga. Mostly, my job takes me to the local bike shops to buy more chrome....

Yep, my wife mentioned she wished I paid near as much attention to her... as I do this site...

Adding any type of "accessory" to your ride is a challenging task because you and only you, can "personalize" your ride the way you want it to look. Same as personalizing your house... Only YOU can make that final decision on what it should look like. In my opinion, hideing the actual glass light bulb to where you dont see the glass bulb is a bit challenging, but the "reflection" of the light beam is what bounces off the chrome parts providing the accent your looking for. So be creative....I suggest temporairily installing the lights in place and wait for night time to see if that is what you really are looking for. If not, you can still move them around to achieve desired results. Once you get the bulbs placed where you want them, then you can perminatley mount them. I have 112 LED lights on mine, and I had to wait for night time to really see what the results would be like. I moved mine several times to get them where I wanted them. I would not just put them on "quickly" because you will not be a happy camper when you have to do it all over again.... Places where I put mine: Under gas tank to reflect on engine chrome Under side bags to reflect on mufflers Under rear trucnk to reflect on rear fender and side bags Under tripple tree to reflect on front fender and front of radiator grille Under drivers seat to reflect on engine chrome

Fred, Wish I could be of more help to you, but only thing I can think of you basically already mentioned..oil the clutch cable, check the cable adjustment for proper play.. Other than that, maybe check for any hardware (nuts/ bolts/ washers) that may have come loose on the shifting linkage..oil every moving place / part on the shifting linkage...make sure there is no "sticks" or "fod" wedged up underneath in the shifting linkage.. If all this checks out, then I would have to say its time to move to the interior side for observation.....sorry bud!

Mobil 1 oil change time?
Eck replied to rjmalizia's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I guess i was just looking for a more definitive answer regarding the need to change synthetic oils and oil filter every 3000 miles too or can one simply replace the oil filter at the 3000 mile mark and let the oil go another 2-3000 miles. I would have to say "YES" you could.. to answer your question. But....well lets just say I would not do that. I change both at same time..always.. To do what your asking, is a way to get more miles (or use) out of the synthetic oil. By changing only the filter ever 3,000 miles, you basically extend the USE of the oil....however you are not extending the LIFE of the oil.. You are useing the oil for its "proclaimed life" or advertised life of say 7,000 miles between oil changes..which you could do. -
Mobil 1 oil change time?
Eck replied to rjmalizia's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well, I certainly hope you changed out the oil filter during your change over to the Mobile fully synthetic 3000 miles ago..... I would (and always do) change both...oil & filter......every time. I also change mine every 3000 miles....some say this is unnessessary and a waste of money, but I have done this all my life.. Why change now. -
i THINK I GOT THE WHINE
Eck replied to ventureblue's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well okie dokie....... You might want to read up on the greasing of the splines and rear hub pins for a good understanding of the associated problems and when you change that rear tire out, that is the best time to have it done...since they already removed the rear wheel.....save some bucks.... -

Send me an email address where I can attach some photos for you and the how to information on greasing the drive shaft. I can not post that info here since it came from another web site. PS: drive shaft is not real hard, but is not easy if your not sure what to do...... Here is the tech article on the rear hub pins: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13263 -
