  1. You typed up your reply a lot quicker than I was able to Freebird. I totally agree with Freebird on his reply and feel the same exact way about it. I choose to pull a trailer and I will ALWAYS connect the safety chains when ever I do pull one. I would rather go down on my own than to take out another biker, a family or a child any day. If you don't want to connect the safety chains you have no reason to be pulling a trailer ever, and I will NOT ride with you.

  3. Painterman, sorry you feel that way. I must also agree with Barrycuda and the others. Heck, no one talks to me much anymore either but times are changing and so has this site. Many of the old timers here don't post much anymore or comment about anything. They are here lurking but that doesn't mean that they don't like you or that they are ignoring you. Heck, jump in anytime.. Don't let it bother you for I think you may be taking things wrong which give you those negative feelings.
  4. This isn't bike related, but since this is a once in a life time chance sort of thing, I posted it for those who may be interested. NOTE: Last Day to Register: September 8, 2015 (11:59 p.m. ET) so do it NOW... Send your name to Mars on InSight at http://go.usa.gov/3Aj3G and retrieve your frequent flyer points on NASA'S Journet to Mars. NASA is sending a satellite to Mars and it can take your name with it if you click on the above link and follow the instructions. I also posted this on the Ventureriders FB page My Name is going..
  5. I have disconnected our home alarm system service and quit our low-key Neighborhood Watch. Bought two Pakistani flags on eBay and raised them in the front yard, one at each corner, plus ablack flag of ISIS in the center. Now, the local police, county sheriff, FBI, CIA, NSA, Homeland Security, Secret Service andother agencies are all watching the house 24/7. We have never felt safer and we are saving $49.95 per month..............
  6. Oh heck.. You've done it now............Mike's head will be so big he wont be able to walk through the doorway... (but I do agree with you, for he is a great guy!!.)
  7. Here is a quick glimpse of what is going on in Huntsville right now...And I am leaving in the morning for a family reunion... http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2015/09/wing_ding_37_in_huntsville_ope.html
  8. Wow, That is way out of my league.... (so is the price range).. Heck, I would be afraid to drive that thing...............only thing I could do is wash & wax it.......
  9. My thanks and appreciation for your service is included within. I wish you all a safe day in hopes you may return back to your family unharmed every day. You guys rock!!!
  10. Now this is a true VR.Org family member here....That's what I'm talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. The ride on that I put in my tire hardened "real hard". It was like an epoxy. Maybe I just got a defective can or like chaharly said, debris/ dust, dirt in tire but it was a new tire I was having put on at the time. I have never used it since, but maybe I will try it again some day. I carry an air pump, tire plugs and an emergency can of fix a flat now.
  12. Goose68, When you changed your tires out did you take notice if the ride on stuff had hardened on the inside of the tire, or was it as runny as it was out of the container it came in?
  13. I installed three sets of lights like these. One set on my RSV and (2) other sets on other members RSV's. They do help see better at night, but I don't ride at night anymore unless I really have to..
  14. I sent you an email with a link with pictures and universal joint info in the case you want to change out your universal joint. I don't really think you need to though, but again, I'm only giving you my opinion.
  15. Ok, lets test that questionable bent axle. Remove the wheel from the bike. Insert the axle through the swing arm as normal, but no need to use the spacers or the locking nut here, this is only a test. Now turn the axle. Does it spin freely or does it bind a little? There are (4) acorn nuts on the rear end of the drive shaft housing.. If there is any binding at all you must loosen those acorn nuts and tighten them in a criss/cross sequence. Read this tech article and perform the instructions with-in to ensure your in alignment. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?1705-Rear-End-Noise-Yamaha-TSB http://www.venturerider.org/rearnoise/index.1.jpg http://www.venturerider.org/rearnoise/index.2.gif http://www.venturerider.org/rearnoise/index.3.gif
  16. Tony, Food for thought here. I had about 96k miles on my 2005 RSV and I never replaced any of the wheel bearings. With you having only 25 /30k miles, (which is really nothing on them), I personally would not change them unless they were damaged somehow.. This is my opinion and may not be the same as others here. I mean 25k to 35k miles on a wheel bearing is minor miles /wear & tear on them. I just have to ask this in strengthening my point here, but how often do you really change your cage wheel bearings and what is the difference of the cage wheel bearings & the bikes wheel bearings? I mean bearings are bearings and if you need to change them at 25k on your bike then your cage would also need them changed. When you remove the wheel, (as mentioned above) place your finger in the wheel bearing and turn it and see if you can feel any binding or grinding. If not, and it turns smoothe and with little effort, I would not worry about them. Eck

Plugs last a long time anymore no matter what type you install. I mean, how many miles do you have on your cage and yet have not changed those plugs? The basic stock plugs have been doing fine for years. I personally would not spend a bunch of money on plugs........ when I could use that money for gas.....! But hey, that is me..
  19. I used ride on one time. In my case, over time the stuff hardened and I found that there was no way it could keep my tire "in balance" as the tire wore down.. This was my end result and may not be the same in all cases. Tire beads (in my opinion) are well worth the cost and never melt or harden over time and can keep a tire in balance as it wears down. Tire beads do nothing for a leak though... When your old tire wears out and you are about to replace it, you can drill a good size hole (1/2 inch) in the worn tire, and then using a funnel and bottle, you can turn the worn tire over the funnel and drain/ pour the beads out for use again in the new tire!! No need to buy more...
  20. There aren't any of the "choice" hotels in Davis WV that I know of or can find (I use choice hotel points also). The places to stay (and approximate cost) for Davis WV are: Alpine Lodge & Sawmill Restaurant - $58.00 per night Canaan Village Inn - $60.00 per night Windwood Fly-in Resort - $72.00 Timberline Four Seasons Resort - $79.00 (restaurant on site) Bright Morning Inn - $99.00 (restaurant on site) Blackwater Falls Lodge - $121.00 Canaan Valley Resort State Park - $139 to $160 per night I have a list of all restaurants (and bars) in the area too.......
  21. I hear, feel and can relate to your anger and disappointment in HB equipment. I bought a set of extensions and every one of the ends broke off..not near as expensive as a lift but same point on the cheap stuff they sell. I have found a few good things though. Just one thought here that you may have already thought of, but maybe there is another manufacturers pump that would fit/replace the pump you have? If you could find another type pump you might could end up with a darn good lift? Just a thought..
  22. Only two posts and one bump...was wondering if anyone else did this ride? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?108883-2015-Annual-VR-quot-In-Memory-Of-quot-ride-day
  23. Tom, Review this link on how to repair it. No use me typing the same instructions. http://www.xjrider.com/viewtopic.php?t=666 One KEY instruction: To reinforce the damage, glue a piece of ABS plastic to the backside of it. It is crucial that the ABS plastic piece used to reinforce the part is made from ABS. Also, to build your courage up to do the repair yourself, take a few minutes and do a search on ABS crack repair and click on VIDEOS to watch how it is done. I used a soldering iron and welded the ABS plastic back together on the underside. Then added the reinforcement piece and glued it all up. Let it set for a day or two, then sanded the top side and repainted to match best I could. No one ever knew mine was repaired.
  24. The lower fairing half can be repaired. There are many ways to fix it. Posting a couple good clear photos of the inner side and the out side damaged areas would be most beneficial in determining what type of repair action you could take.
  25. I voted for Davis WV. Canaan Valley lodge is a very nice place and don't forget, there is Black bear resort 9 minutes / 6 miles down the road if one does not want to stay at the Canaan Valley Lodge. Prices are higher but sharing the costs could be a possibility if considered. I will say that if Davis WV is the chosen area for the 2016 VR International Rally, I would gladly step up to the plate and be part of the planning committee in making lodging, restaurant and ride plans. I know this area well since I have been riding it for the past 9 years.
