I would give up my wing if the Venture had: Electronic ignition-do away with the carbs- standard mp3 player (or better) in place of cassette player - standard adjustable air shocks just like the wings have - standard Engine must be at minimum 1800cc to 2000cc - standard ABS is standard adjustable windshield- standard weather radio info - standard center stand - standard A darn good output alternator - standard Am/FM stereo that out does the wings standard radio system How about some good lighting in the rear--- standard How about some really good LED fog lights- standard Adjustable headlights just like the wing has- up . down right / left All ball bearings in goose neck with grease fitting - standard All ball bearings in swing arm - standard - with grease fitting - standard Throatier exhaust system - standard- make it SOUND like a motorcycle -
You better be packing!!!! ...if you plan on camping.... Wild life is abundant and bears are often seen through out the area, so make sure you place candy bars, honey, and lots of sweets about 5 to 7 campsites away from yours, then sit back and watch the action..

Here is part 1 and part 2 of another road that I have been on. Hwy 72 And here is one more that I have been on. Hwy 1 / Back mountain Rd.

I noticed that too. I really thought it would be listed at least around 5th place. I don't think that they are that light. I wonder though.... if they weighed the bikes from the top ....or from the bottom.......

No feathers ruffled here my friend, and sorry if I came across that way for it was NOT my intention. Not at all. I surely don't want anyone hitting a deer either. . -
I found this information interesting. 10. Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special – 385kg At 385kg, ready-to-ride, the Road Glide weighs as much as a Penguin AGM-119B anti-shipping missile – which is the sort of thing launched from boats, helicopters or F16s against waterborne targets – or about as much as the average adult Caribbean leatherback seat turtle. 9. Honda F6B – 385kg Drawing exactly level with the Road Glide at 385kg wet, the stripped-back F6B tips the scales at the same weight as a 1968 Porsche 909 Bergspyder racing car. Which, incidentally, also had a horizontally-opposed engine of around the same size as the Honda’s, albeit with eight cylinders and 275bhp to haul its mass rather than six pots and 118bhp. 8. Victory Vision Tour – 386kg Victory’s Vision Tour is just a fraction heavier than the two bikes below it in the list, although it’s worth mentioning that Victory only lists a dry weight, where the others are ready-to-ride. If like-for-like figures were available, it would probably be a fair bit higher on this list. Even so, at 386kg dry it weighs as much as the shell from a WW1-era 12-inch naval gun. 7. Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide – 395kg The glittering, £28,630 CVO Street Glide is marked out from its less ostentatious brethren in part by its unashamed brashness and also by its ridiculously powerful sound system, with a pair of 300 watt amps. So it’s fitting that it weighs as much as the world’s most insane iPod Dock, the 15,200 watt, €399,000 AeroDream One, designed by Jean Michel Jarre. Like the Harley, it’s shiny, loud and not entirely practical (you need to climb a ladder to dock your iPod on top of it…) 6. Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic – 399kg It’s not a big surprise, but there are several Harleys on this list. The near-as-dammit 400kg Electra Glide Ultra Classic happens to weigh precisely as much as a single blade from the rotor of a Mil Mi-26, the world’s largest mass-produced helicopter. To be fair, the helicopter has eight of them, but then again it weighs more than 28 tonnes when it’s empty and can carry another 20 tonnes of cargo. Which is 50 Electra Glide Ultra Classics. 5. Kawasaki VN1700 Voyager – 406kg Finally we’re past the 400kg mark and it’s not a Harley. While the Ultra Classic in 6th place weighs as much as a helicopter’s blade, Kawasaki’s VN1700 Voyager is as heavy as a whole helicopter! Seriously, 406kg is the unladen weight not only of the Voyager but also of a Hughes 269A helicopter, also known as the TH-55 Osage, which is the classic bubble-shaped lightweight helicopter used as a military trainer for decades in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Alternatively, 406kg is also the weight of an entry-level twin-oven, cast iron Aga. 4. Indian Roadmaster – 408kg Another one that’s not a Harley, Indian’s heaviest machine so far at 408kg is as heavy as the entire RD-0110 third-stage motor assembly of a Soyuz rocket. It’s not as fast or powerful (67,000lbs of force for the rocket) but significantly more comfortable. 3. Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited – 414kg The Roadmaster might be as heavy as a rocket motor, but the Harley Ultra Limited weighs as much as a whole spaceship. Really. At 414kg it’s the same mass as the Genesis probe that travelled 1.5 million km towards the sun and collected samples of solar wind between 2001 and 2004. Unfortunately, the Genesis’s parachute failed on re-entry and it slammed into the ground at 193mph – which is presumably about as fast as an Ultra Limited would go in free-fall. 2. Honda Goldwing – 421kg You knew that the Goldwing was going to be on this list, didn’t you? The only question was which of the podium positions it would fill. As it turns out, 421kg ready-to-ride isn’t enough to take the top. It’s the same weight as a Pratt & Whitney PW100 turboprop engine (and if you’ve ever flown to the Isle of Man, you’ve probably experience a couple of them powering one of FlyBe’s Bombardier Dash 8s). 1. Harley CVO Road Glide Ultra – 439kg And the biggest of the big is, of course, another Harley. In ready-to-run form the CVO Road Glide Ultra is the heftiest bike in the firm’s range (with an equally heavyweight £29,130 price tag.) To put that into perspective, 439kg is about 70 stone – as much as Britain’s former fattest man at his peak.

Slowrollwv, I don't camp and don't care too, but I posted this info because of post #33 by eagleeye asking about camping. Please note that in my posting, that I also included the recommendation to perform a Google search on camping in that area in case he (or others who want to camp) may find better, closer, cheaper accommodations that they may like. -

All the information that I have posted is premature (like me) and for information purposes only. As Freebird mentioned (above post), there have been no calls made to any motels (by me) for group rates or for VR.Org discounts of any kind. I only posted the information to give all of you an easy way see what was available at the present time and their basic rates so you can decide where you may want to stay. I wont be posting anymore info for a long time if at all on this subject. -

Cabin rentals. Click on the link below and the map that appears will show you where several rentals are in the area. Hope this helps. One could rent a house that sleeps 6 or 8 and then try to find others who would want stay with them and split the cost https://www.flipkey.com/search/map/?l=58999&cq=1 -

Just 3 weeks ago this was the nastiest experience we have had in a long time. My wife and I went to Alexander City, Al., for a family reunion (her side) and while there we stayed at a Hampton Inn. Upon our arrival, as we were pulling in and up to the front door, I made a comment to my wife saying, look how high the grass is and the weeds in the shrub areas. The grass was nearly up to my knees. Very unusual for a Hampton Inn. We checked in and I asked if there was a cart available and I was told it was broke, but she went in the back and got it anyway. It appeared to be ok and I used it to unload our stuff. During the night, my wife had to make a potty call, and when she closed the bathroom door, the squealing and grinding of the hinges on the door woke me up and I'm sure the neighbors could hear it. Next day, I went to the front desk and asked the person at the desk for some spray lubricant and he ran upstairs and brought me a can (why didn't he notify maintenance to do this?), so anyway, I sprayed ALL the hinges in our room. Later on when we returned back from the reunion, my wife, our daughter, our grand daughter and our great grand daughter, and I all went to the pool. We could not use any of the chairs at the pool because the seats were all ripped out. Again, not at all the norm for a Hampton Inn. Later that evening we were in our room and my wife went to use the microwave and it was filthy, had pop corn in it and something splattered all over the inside and on the door glass. My wife cleaned it out so we could use it. About an hour later, my wife walks around the side of the bed and she steps on an old half chewed up piece of peppermint candy that was stuck to the carpet. If the cleaning lady would have vacuumed the floor like she was supposed to, there was no way she could have missed this. Again unusual for Hampton Inn. When we returned home, the more I thought about it the more I was getting frustrated, so I sat down and wrote a nice, but firm letter to the main office of Hampton Inn explaining our "adventure" while staying at their motel, which by the way charged us rates that would apply to those rates one would expect to pay at the Chicago O'Hare Airport... After I sent my letter to the main office, I then sent the same letter via email to the manager of the motel where we stayed letting her know how dissatisfied and disappointed we were while staying at the motel she is in charge of and that I notified the main office of Hampton Inn's. A few days went by and to my surprise, I get an email from the manager in that she was apologetic and that she had made an adjustment to what we were charged for our troubles. Then a couple days went by and I get another email from her asking me to send her our home address because she wants to send us a coupon for two free nights stay at any Hampton Inn within the USA, because of our disappointment. I find it does pay to complain (if done in a nice way) and I am happy that Hampton Inn stood behind there 100% satisfaction guarantee policy. I will be staying there again if we ever go back to Alexander city. I did not write the letter to get a free ride but to let them know how dissatisfied we were. I am once again a happy member of Hampton Inn.

Oh boy, what did I start now.. I don't want this thread to go off track and get into politics / politicians or get into a debate of what the state or government or FBI should do with this guy. My entire rationale to start this thread was ONLY to say that I am GLAD they caught him, and that the people in CO., can now drive in peace down the interstate. I was not and am not getting into who is right, who is wrong or how the laws and courts run their course. I just hope that this guy was working alone...........!!!

I don't understand it either my friend.. I just cant register in my mind what causes a person to do something like this. The world is going crazy..Im just glad I am not 20 yrs old and beginning life.. I really hate to see what this world will be like in years to come for all our kids and our grandkids.. Scares the heck out of me..

Waxing my bike the other day and I noticed that my gremlin bell is missing. The ty-wrap was still there, but the bell fell off somewhere during a ride. Back in 2010 I wrecked my RSV. After healing up, I bought the Goldwing I presently have and awhile attending one of Freebirds MD events, Dragonrider and 86er gave me that bell and it has been on the Wing ever since.

Of you don't have an air compressor, on the left grip you can "carefully" insert a screwdriver between the handlebar and the grip and then slowly work the shank around the handlebar thus breaking any glue that is holding it on. Use one hand to grip, twists and pull the grip as you work the screwdriver. As Wizard765 said above: (quote) The right side is somewhat different depending on if you bought grips with the sleeve or without the sleeve. With the sleeve you have to loosen the throttle cables to get the ends out. Without the sleeve the air gun trick might be the best approach to get the old grip off the stock sleeve
