Dang, I just gotta say something now... In my opinion, when the power of love overcomes the love of power we will finally get back on the yellow brick road to prosperity, peace and real fulfillment. The younger generation, and even some of the present generation, I think, believe the odds of them winning the lottery are probably much higher than their odds of attaining The American Dream. Every day, I get home from work and watch the news, I see The American Dream becoming more and more like the Impossible Dream. The American Dream is no longer attainable by the majority of people. I'm about ready to retire, and am worried if I really can now. Aren't you? Who can really afford thier home? Heck, just the thought of purchasing a new home ..wow...considering the ridiculously high prices out there and enormous interest rates..(wolves and thieves)..? What about decent jobs with stable companies arent these also a thing of the past?? It appears to me the prevailing mentality in our society today is that you can get something for nothing. There is a sense of "entitlement" and an expectation of wanting the good life without having to work hard for it, (or work at all..I'll just wait till I inherit it all). This is reinforced, and glorified by the media with shows like “The Lifestyle of The Rich and Famous.” When all you see is glamour, but not the real hard work and sacrifice that goes into achieving such success. This only inspires more envy and the desire for a “get rich quick” scheme leading to the daily errosion of basic morality and personal integrity. Take a look at the break down of "today's" family system. Both parents spend long working hours (sometimes just to make ends meet), their children left alone, being raised by peers, gangs and oh yea..TV. Family values and compromised integrity simply don’t run parallel. Children have become corrupted by default, increasingly turning to violence, which in turn negatively affects not only our way of life, but our economy as well. I feel, when the power of love overcomes the love of power can will get back on the yellow brick road to real prosperity, have REAL peace and REAL fulfillment. Indeed, the best things in life ......are free

I was able to call some dear friends of mine in Okla city last night to check on them, and they have power now but did not for two days. Said they slept on living room floor in front of gas fire place. Had many tree branches down in thier yard. One fell on roof of house and slide down tearing off the Christmas lights with it but was better than tearing off the shingles or puching a hole in the roof.. Said they had about an inch of ice on thier car and took them a little over two hours to chip away at it to where they could get into the car in case they had to start it to keep warm... Also said it is warming up enough to where the ice is starting to melt a little and are afraid of floods if it melted to fast.. They said many of the trees (looking down the road) have broken braches and neighbors yards have trees down... looks like a frozen war zone.. Other than that, they are OK...

I have copied and pasted every tech article in the library (2nd gen only) and printed each article which has since been placed in a manilla folder located in the rear trunk of my bike to have on hand on every ride I go on...always prepared to fix my own or help someone in need.

Sorry, but the "angel" of the rear brake pedal doesnt have a thing to do with how much pressure is applied or amount of fluid going to the rear caliper or rear brake pads.

Harbor Freight Bike Lift on sale!!!! Save $150
Eck replied to KiteSquid's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
Just a word of causion with this type lift from Harbor frieght.. I personally looked at one "in depth" with the bike shop owner answering my questions about that type of lift. At the time I was looking at his harbor freight lift, he had a chopper frame with only two tires and handle bars...this chopper did not have an engine on it, nor a seat... The harbor frieght stand is much wider at the "top" than it is at the bottom..which causes the lift to "rock" "wiggle" and to me it personally looks very weakly made.. The bike shop owner told me he bought it from harbor frieght in hopes it would do what he needed to repair bikes, but he said he will NOT put a bike on it that weighs over 400 lbs... He said with a heavy full dress Harley, he rasied the lift ONE TIME, and caled his crew over to help securely hold the bike so he could let it right back down, because the excessive weight on the lift after it was raised, it wanted to "TIP OVER"...and was way too unstable.. The shop owner went out and purchased a $3,500 lift after that.. I wiggled the stand with the "bare" chopper on it, and WOW, I grabbed it in hopes it would not TIP OVER.. The posted harbor freight stand WILL pick up a venture but the lift will require "steel stiffeners" be added to the floor section for stability. The lift will also require "Steel adjustable supports" that can swing out along the floor to "stabilize" the lift from tipping over to one side or the other. After my persoanl visual inspection of this Harbor frieght lift, I determined you ARE getting exactly what you are paying for.. a very cheap lift.. An accident waiting to happen..... IF YOU ADDED SOME STEEL SUPPORTS AND FLOOR STABILIZERS TO ENSURE IT DOESN'T TIP OVER, THEN YOU WOULD HAVE A LIFT THAT WILL RAISE YOUR VENTURE WITH A MORE WARM FUZZY FEELING OF CONFIDENCE IN SECURITY.. -
Here is a great deal in my opinion... Replacement windshield appears on page 902 of the Parts Unlimited Street Catalog: http://street.parts-unlimited.com/20/555/4029652 Part #DescriptionRetailS140 FOR YAMAHA VENTURE/VENTURE ROYALE $86.95
