Not meaning to start a big debate here, but this may be of interest to some of you... DOT can not ...and never has... approved anything.....check it out.. http://www.bikersrights.com/nhtsa/notapproved.html

Vance, I forgot to mention a strong caution note here... I highly reccomend you do not ride that bike until you repalce the bolt and nut... that is a bolt in the frame assembly where two pieces of the frame attach....... yep, get it replaced before you take the chance of a possible "last" ride...

Yes, they are both the same... Take the top one out and head to Lowes, Home Depot or better yet..go to ACE hardware... Ace Hardare carries lots of metric bolts and chrome ones at that... Vance, You can locate the hardware your missing here (reference page D7): http://www.venturerider.org/private/RSVparts.pdf You are missing the following hardware from what I can tell looking at your photos: Part identified as: #7 = 90176-10075-00 Crown Nut, quantity of (1) missing Part identified as: #8 = 90170-10206-00 Nut, quantity of (1) missing Part identified as # 6 = 95827-11080-00 Bolt, quantity of (1) missing

Well Squidley and I weren't that far off... At least we both knew we never seen anything like that on the bike before.. I mean , who would have guessed it to be from a saw....and by the angle of the ends of those two springs you will be loosing them again shortly if you dont bend them around to close them up some...they will just slip right off again..

If memory serves me right, that is correct. You can take a hair dryer and heat the black adhesive strips up to ease thier removal.. You can also "page down" to the bottom of this page, and read other posts about rear speakers and you might find some good info there..

How much you give me if I take it??

Beer30, This is where I got my replacement clutch. Curt99 installed it for me at a tech day we had at his place last year. Dont quiet remember but I think it was around & $90.00 total It was actually one for the V-max as he will tell you when if you call. He (the guy over the shop) said it would hold up to many more horses than we would ever get out of a stock Venture. http://www.pcwracing.net/page10.htm clutch thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=981 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=4543&d=1166201575 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=4542&d=1166201575

Vance, I just went out and put a wrench on mine... It is a 14mm. It appears to be a 14mm threaded stud with a 14mm cap head nut screwed on to the end of it for cosmetics..

It sure looks like a carb spring from a lawn mower.. As for being off a 2nd gen, I havent a clue..it doesnt look like anything I have ever seen on a 2nd gen.. I agree its way too small to be for a brake light switch or kickstand... Only other spring that comes close to it is in the head light assembly on a 2nd gen, but even that one I think is a little bigger.. I just went out and looked at the rear brake light switch spring, and it is a lot longer...appears to be same diameter, but a lot longer...??????????????????????????????

Well let me say right off the batt that you will be over "taxing" your charging system BIG TIME when you hit your bright lights as in the way you are planning to do. I really dont think the bike can handle what your trying to do myself, but one of the electrical "BRIGHT" ones will jump in and tell you more hopefully. In what your saying, You will have the regular head light on high beam, and you say you also want to have BOTH sets of additional lights also on high beam.. WOW...thats a lot of juice..You will look like a B52 coming in for a landing..and that's IF the charging system CAN handle the needed power which I personally doubt.. One thing for sure, I would say yes you will need to split the fairing, and it would sure make the job a lot easier to wire up... As for the wire coloring, you can look the headlight wiring up in the tech section of this site. You can down load the manual for your bike and page down until you find the correct electrical section for the head light and it should tell you the colors of low and high beam. If you split your fairing, you could look behind yourheadlight assembly and see what colors the wires are that go to it. Using a tester, you can determine which one is fo rlow and which one is for high beams. As for a switch, I would recomend a switch being mounted on the handle bar for ease of accessibility to switch it on or off...and not having to take your eye off the road during the changing of high & low beams..

Hey Condor, I just stopped in at one of the local auto parts stores here in Huntsville, (Auto Zone) and they have 1.5 inch recievers on the shelf... Just a thought in that you might want to stop at a local auto store and see what they have ....and you can ask on WHAT they can get from thier hitch people..

By the title of this thread, I thought I might find BOO in here...sorry
-
Why heck yea Boo.. I tell ya, that ride to Atlanta last weekend about froze my damn pinkies off...my toes were getting just as cold... PS: One glove takes only "ONE" size D battery, not four... One sock takes only "ONE" size D battery , not four... total batteries will be four...two socks two gloves...supposed to last up to 14 hours constantly on, but I really think I will get more hours since I can turn them off when I stop and get off the bike. I am also lookng for a 12 volt (Size D) battery charger....hook it up directly to the bike and only turn it on when I need to recharge the batteries for the gloves and socks..when on a "cold" trip..
-
So where are ya??? I've been sitting here all morning waiting........
-
Me too,,,,Im interested in knowing if your happy with the results.. Heck, doesnt matter though... I already pordered a pair and they should be here today or Monday. Mine will use the D -cell size batteries. I ordered a pair of gloves and a pair of battery heated socks...!

Mounting Lights on Fairing
Eck replied to AKRefugee's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Quote from above: I would think you should put three or four layers of glass behind the fairing to make a solid but still flexible base... Definately agree with doing this and at the same time, suggest you "glass" the metal plate to the inside of the fairing.. embed the metal plate in the glass....
