J&P Cycles Call them...they say: Tell us your motorcycle. We'll tell you what fits. or... you can go with a 'universal replacement switch"...Popular as an OEM replacement..!! $14.99 http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup.aspx?GID=11421E92-AE01-4118-A00B-C67E775E34ED

Very nice bike.. Yep, all you have to do now is be like some of us here and break it right in by dropping it.. Really I hope you never drop it, but many of us here have and if you do then you will know the embarassment that comes with it.. Just keep in mind it is top heavy and it does not like to make slow tight turns in a parking lot or driveway... ask me how I know....

If you cant find snap in plugs you can make plugs easily by using flat metal washers that are just a lttle bit larger in diameter than the holes in the trunk or trailer, flat rubber (or soft plastic) washers the same size as the flat metal washers (or even a little larger) then get some short "chrome" round dome head type bolts that fit the hole diameters in the trunk and trailer..and some nuts to fit the bolts Place a metal washer on the short dome head bolt, then a rubber washer, put the bolt thru the hole in the trunk from the outside in, place another metal flat washer on the inside with a nut and then snug them up..all you will see it the chrome dome head of the bolt and a little of the metal and rubber washer under it and it wont leak. You could also do it real cheap by using some black RTV silicone.. Place some masking tape on the "out side" over the hole, put a little RTV on your finger, wipe it over the hole "from the inside" to fill the hole, then wait about 10 minutes and remove the tape..it will be flush on the outside (what I would call cosmetically acceptable) You can always push the RTV out later on when you want to reinstall the racks. You can clean off the RTV on the inside with WD-40 which will wipe it right off.

Sherry, Once again ..good to hear from you and see you are making it with the kids and moving on best you can. As for the lawsuit... just a thought here, but any chance of having a certified motorcycle trainer / teacher attend court with you to explain the "do's and dont's when braking or manuvering in an accident situation? Your uncertified opinon carries no weight, Mine wouldnt either for Im not a certified cycle instructor, and I would bet my last dollar the attorney asking you all the questions is not a certified motorcycle instructor either... I definately would have a certified instructor sitting there by my side and when the questions come, I would say straight up..sorry your honor but I am not certified in that arena to say what is right or wrong but I did bring Mr./ Mrs so-in-so who is a certified motorcycle instructor and can tell you first hand what iIS the proper actions to take in that situation....(make sure the instructor knows every part of the accident so it doesnt back fire on you though...to ensure Tom DID take the right actions to avoid the accident). Your still in our hearts and prayers girl...!!......Hang in there -

Looking for a trailer to haul bike
Eck replied to geresti's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
A 2nd gen Venture will fit into a 6x10 enclosed trailer (I know, cause I had one). There is room to NOTE: "carefully squeeze" between the bike and the inner walls on the sides. As big as I am I was able to carefully move around between the bike and the walls. Having a side entrance door provides fast easy access to those items you would need often.. With the front wheel of the bike touching the inner front wall, there will be 3 inches from the rear luggage rack to the rear door. If I had to choose to do it again, I would purchase at minimum, an 8 x 12 "V" nose enclosed trailer with a side entrance door. I personally would not need anything bigger since I would only be hauling the bike... I do not own a 4 wheeler or anything where I would need a bigger trailer. Make sure you get jack stands for under the rear ramp door..and use them.. ask me how I know... -
Man I've been looking and looking at so many different GPS units, reading all I can, reading all the comments sections on every search engine I can find AND looking at prices.. I find it amazing that one palce will sell this GPS unit fo $1,500 and another for $650.00 and yet they are the same product...amazing there is such a wide spread increase in the market place to rip people off..

Hey Condor, How are you? Great I hope.. Yep, I've been looking at GPS units, and have my sites on the Zumo 550. I noticed on this one, that all the Pre-loaded U.S. maps are from the 1st quarter of 2007 Not sure if one can update this.... I am also looking for one with an MP3 player, with about 6,000 plus POI, and tells you the name of the road to turn on.

works on the same principle as RIDE-ON.. but "ride on" is made to stop the tire from going flat by seeping into and around the hole plugging it if you get a nail or screw in it where as the beads wont do much for you except keep the tire within ballance, but hey, that is all they were designed to do.. ballance the tire.. I have not tried them ,but have heard from others who have and all have said they had good results with them.

Ron, to do it correctly and with out damaging it, you need to split the fairing and loosen the chrome head light (holder).. bezzel.. You can find out how to split the fairing in the 2nd gen tech section http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=494

Ron, My 05 was acting the same exact way about two years ago, and in the same hard spot in shifting ...2nd & 3rd. Found out that there is a pivot point of the shifting linkage that is on the left side of the radiator and under the front of the left floor board that needed lubrication. It was binding at that one piviot point. I put a little motor oil on a large screwdriver, then placed the blade of the screwdriver on the "gap" between parts in this pivot point and let the oil run off into the gap to ensure I go it on th eright spot. Spraying oil just went all over the engine and everything else...what a mess... I used the oiled up screwdriver method several times to ensure it was lubricated. I have oiled this spot many times since and the shifting problem has never ever returned. Rain / water is splashed from the rear of the front tire and it passes thru and along both sides of the radiator when turning the handlebars. The water gets right into this pivot point and begins to cause rust thus severe binding ocurrs... Keep this joint / pivot point lubricated often and you should not have any problems with the shifting. I too thought it was my clutch or shifting linkage being loose or bent..all it needed was lubrication on every pivot point within the shifting linkage. Oh yes, as said, you must make sure all the bolts are tight to spec too, but lube everything and then check it out.. I really hope this is your problem ....because its soooooooo cheap to fix.

As already mentioned, Diabetes it is very manageable and is not a death threat so you can relax. Millions have it and great medicine is out there. In fact a new type hitting the market shortly you will be able to take it oraly. You might want to think more about slowing down on your smoking..now that will kill ya.. No offense, but man you smoke a lot...I mean one right after the other.. I used to smoke too bud, and know its hard to quit..but you need to cut back a little thats all I'm saying. Your to young of a man and you have a whole lot of life ahead of you to be smoking that much. As said, diabeties is easily controlled..having cancer is russian rulette.. Wish you could ask Mean Dog about what I am saying.... Roadkill, I did not mean to sound like I'm telling you what to do now, it's just my personal concern coming out for you as a friend. I guess what I am saying is, we can ride with you if you have diabeties, but the chances of us riding with you are very slim to null...if you have cancer.....

Boo, Food for thought to digest... After my clutch change out, my clutch now grabs around the 2/3rds area also... I am so used to it now I dont even notice or think about it. Mine doesnt slip at all and works just fine. I f I remember, I had the Barnett clutch installed. Curt99 installed it for me at his place on tech day while I played around installing his hidden garage door opener on his handle bar grip.
