  1. Thanks Don and same to you and your family. I wish you all a great Thanksgiving. I would like to thank all the Dr's, Nurses, Firemen, Policemen, Marines/ Military and everyone else who are on duty doing their job this Holiday, so that I, you and others can celebrate this Thanksgiving. Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to all my VR family & friends! Eck
  2. My birthday......
  3. Harley Davidson with 30 inch chrome "floating" front wheel. http://think-man.info/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/011.mp4?_=1
  4. I installed mine a little different than most have. I cut the bags apart and then drilled through the windshield and each bag then mounted each bag separately. See attached pics.
  5. While at a cabin we rented in northern GA this past weekend, I was getting our empty cooler out of the truck bed in the dark. I was parked up on a hill so that the tail gate end of the truck was a bit hight than normal. I pulled the empty cooler out of the truck bed and placed it on the top of the bed (I have bed covers), and then I began closing the bed lift door. As I had both hands under the bed door picking it up, the dang cooler flipped backwards and hit me in the (left) eye. Yea, it hurt a little, and yes, I said damn it, then I picked up the cooler and headed to the front door of the cabin. On my way to the front door of the cabin I felt this warm liquid running down the left side of my face. When I got to the door, I realized that this is blood. Hum… I opened the door as the blood was dripping off my chin, and my wife Konnie looked at me, she about fell out. She says in a very concerned voice, OMG, HONEY, are you ok?, as she jumps up heading towards me. I said yea, I just need a Band-Aid. She said do you think you need stitches? I said, heck, I don't know yet, I need to look in the mirror. Got to the bathroom and looked in the mirror and sure-nuff, only needed a ban-aid. Next morning my eye was a bit swollen, and turned a little black and blue. When my wife saw me, I immediately told her never to hit me again and that I would take her out for dinner whenever she asks.....
  6. I purchased and installed some Kury Stealth Lights and about a month later only half of the LEDs work now (on the right side). A lot of money wasted in my opinion. This just adds to the rationale as to why I have lost all faith in any Kury product.
  7. Removing rust has been discussed many times here but I just found out another way to remove rust from chrome and other parts and it works great. Hope this helps someone out there! Cut a regular potato in half and then put some regular salt on the white end. (Do not use sea salt...) Apply the white end & salt over the surface of the part that is affected by the rust. Once you scrubbed it down fairly well, just rinse the surface(s) and you should now have a sparkling rust-free part again. Severe rusted areas may require the other half of the potato and some more salt, and a little more elbow grease. Works well on aluminum rims too even if there is no rust, and it cleans them up like new!
  8. I know how to wash a cell phone...send it to me.........................()
  9. The cracks don't normally go all the way through but if you still have a concern, you can fix them for around $3 bucks. You can purchase, and then apply small dabs of (black) silicone on your finger, then rub the carb boot with the silicone using your finger to push the silicone into the small cracks, thus filling them, and smoothing the surface of excess silicone. Let the boots set now for about 8 hours minimum (over night would do it). Silicone can withstand the heat in that area and will last for years. Using black silicone will blend in and it wont be able to be quickly noticed without staring at the boots for a length of time.
  10. My 2 cents- for what it's worth.. To me, it sounds more like you are loosing the prime, and as you are loosing it, the float slides downward to where it triggers the pump to the "on mode". It then runs until it fills up enough to where the float rises and goes into the "off mode". I think you have a leak more than a relay issue. Adding a relay to a higher position is not the answer to the problem and I truly don't think that will do anything except make the pump stay on LONGER until the water raises the float to THAT HIGHER LEVEL, but if the leak is there (which is what I suspect), then as the water drains out (loosing your prime) the float slides back down and there you go again.. The pump runs again. Only other thing I can think of is that maybe you have a loose / dirty connection in the electrical side of the system. Check to see if you have same voltage at pump as you do the breaker in main breaker panel..
  11. Dear Family, I'm not dead yet. Thanksgiving is still important to me. If being in my Last Wil...l and Testament is important to you, then you might consider being with me for my favorite holiday. Dinner is at 2:00. Not 2:15. Not 2:05. Two. 2:00! Arrive late and you get what's left over. Last year, that moron Marshall fried a turkey in one of those contraptions and practically burned the deck off the house. This year, the only peanut oil used to make the meal will be from the secret scoop of peanut butter I add to the carrot soup. Jonathan, your last new wife was an idiot. You don't arrive at someone's house on Thanksgiving needing to use the oven and the stove. Honest to God, I thought you might have learned after two wives - date them longer and save us all the agony of another divorce. Now, the house rules are slightly different This year because I have decided that 47% of you don't know how to take care of nice things. Paper plates and red Solo cups might be bad for the environment, but I'll be gone soon and that will be your problem to deal with. House Rules: 1. The University of Texas no longer plays Texas A&M. The television stays off during the meal. 2. The "no cans for kids" rule still exists. We are using 2 liter bottles because your children still open a third can before finishing the first two. Parents can fill a child's cup when it is empty. All of the cups have names on them and I'll be paying close attention to refills. 3. Chloe, last year we were at Trudy's house and I looked the other way when your Jell-O salad showed up. This year, if Jell-O salad comes in the front door it will go right back out the back door with the garbage. Save yourself some time, honey. You've never been a good cook and you shouldn't bring something that wiggles more than you. Buy something from the bakery. 4. Grandmothers give grandchildren cookies and candy. That is a fact of life. Your children can eat healthy at your home. At my home, they can eat whatever they like as long as they finish it. 5. I cook with bacon and bacon grease. That's nothing new. Your being a vegetarian doesn't change the fact that stuffing without bacon is like egg salad without eggs. Even the green bean casserole has a little bacon grease in it. That's why it tastes so good. Not eating bacon is just not natural. And as far as being healthy... look at me. I've outlived almost everyone I know. 6. Salad at Thanksgiving is a waste of space. 7. I do not like cell phones. Leave them in the car. 8. I do not like video cameras. There will be 32 people here. I am sure you can capture lots of memories without the camera pointed at me. 9. Being a mother means you have to actually pay attention to the kids. I have nice things and I don't put them away just because company is coming over. Mary, watch your kids and I'll watch my things. 10. Rhonda, a cat that requires a shot twice a day is a cat that has lived too many lives. I think staying home to care for the cat is your way of letting me know that I have lived too many lives too. I can live with that. Can you? 11. Words mean things. I say what I mean. Let me repeat: You don't need to bring anything means you don't need to bring anything. And if I did tell you to bring something, bring it in the quantity I said. Really, this doesn't have to be difficult. 12. Domino's and cards are better than anything that requires a battery or an on/off switch. That was true when you were kids and it's true now that you have kids. 13. Showing up for Thanksgiving guarantees presents at Christmas. Not showing up guarantees a card that may or may not be signed. In memory of your Grandfather, the back fridge will be filled with beer. Drink until it is gone. I prefer wine anyway. But one from each family needs to be the designated driver. I really mean all of the above. Love You, Grandma
  12. As Randy said: The best trick to a good retirement is doing it with someone you really enjoy being with......... Cant begin to say it any different than the true words he posted!!!!!!!!!!
  13. I feel your pain H2O and I understand exactly what you are saying, but this is a motorcycle related site and one of "our main rules" is no politics what-so-ever.. If anyone wants to talk politics, there are sites just for that, but not here. Copied from attached link - Please read: We have also tried to keep political discussions to a minimum here. Many people have very strong political opinions, including me. Again, there are a lot of places on the Internet to discuss politics and I've never seen any good from mixing politics with motorcycle discussion. What starts off as a rational discussion always seems to turn into a heated debate and it usually gets personal before it ends. All of the same things can be said for religious discussions. Rule #2 would be that politics and religion are two subjects that will not be tolerated. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?665-About-VentureRider-Org&highlight=politics We appreciate your understanding and compliance.
  14. Just a friendly reminder here folks. We realize that there are things going on it the world that are of interest to many of us. There are things that we should be able to discuss without turning it into a political debate. This discussion has the potential of going south. If that happens, it will be deleted. Like many in this world, I too am sickened to hear and see what has happened in Paris.
  15. Not trying to throw this thread off track, but it is in relation to side cars....check out this hand made custom side car that a guy is making who is on a GW site that I am on... Unreal craftsmanship!!
  16. Prayers up for ya Skid...Wishing for the best!
  17. Prayers sent for Beth and another sent for you and your entire family!!!!!!!
  18. If I was still living there on Daniel Island, I would have joined you......
  19. Owner of bike said: As is condition... $1750 Note: Not trying to sell his bike in this post now, just stating what he is asking for it. After speaking with him for a lengthy time, I find him very knowledgeable and very mechanically inclined. He worked on Helicopters while in the service and he was a mechanic at a major FORD dealer. Heck if he can work on FORD's.............he surely can fix his own bike.........
  20. Same principle goes for all those water cooled motorcycles too..
  21. Very nice clean looking ride Beach bum.....SWEET!!!! I am fairly mechanically inclined but after reading about the carbs, the work involved and then looking at the bike in person and being able to visually SEE the mass of labor involved I decided NOT to attempt working on his bike. Now if it was mine, I would tackle it and know I would not be rushing to get it done or having anyone watching every step I do over my shoulder...
  22. Not sure if you by chance just changed the oil recently, but my first thought would be ...if you did change the oil, do you have the correct oil in it for a wet clutch? If you have not recently changed the oil in it, then I would (as you are) suspect the clutch going bad and slipping. I would think you could tell if the clutch is slipping, like when in 5th gear and you just give it full throttle (under a load in high gear), you should hear the engine speed up (increase in RPM's), but watch the speedometer and see if it goes up accordingly.
  23. Slowrollwv This bike has 16,188 original miles on it. I sent you his phone number (via email) in the case you are interested. Eck
  24. Slowrollwv - I just sent you an email with the AS IS price that he is asking.. (Edit: I sent him a text asking what the actual mileage is. Will post after his reply). Jimmy99 - I read many an article and found you don't really have to pull the radiator, but you are correct in everything else. It makes it a lot easier if one does pull the radiator but it can be done without pulling it. I was about 75% committed to attempt doing it, but that last 25% made my mind up NOT to attempt it. I don't want to be tied up working in his garage, on my knees, with out the bike on a jack to raise it up to a more comfortable level, and I don't have the place for it in my garage.
