Gene, I would have made every effort to come to this but we are having the whole family coming in for Christmas this year and the last couple (with our grandkids) wont be leaving our house until Monday morning the 29th. This is the first Christmas that the whole family will be together in about 7 years, so I surely dont want to go for a bike ride while they are here.. Maybe next time.

Doug, Wanted to thank you for your free offer on unneeded parts.. With your permission, I would be happy to add your free parts to the "free parts list" I have going on the site located here. If anyone inquires about them, they will be directed to you. Throttle Cable Lubrication
Eck replied to ManWithAVision's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
My opinon only here... To ensure you lubricated them well: I myself would split the kill switch / starter button housing and remove the rear half of the housing from the handle bar just enough to where I could remove the two throttle cables from the round groved end of the grip. You can loose the cable adjustments to do this and re-adjust them after you put it back to gether. Once the cables are removed, you can hold them "upward in the air" and squirt your choice of lubricant down into the outer cable housing. A little difficult,, but by hand, you can pull on each cable to work the oil in. Replace the cables back into the round end of the grip as they were. Do not pry on the cable for it can / will cause damage.. Assemble the switch housing making sure you align the plastic housing pin in the hole on the back side of the handle bar (if yours has one) ....insert and tighten the screws. re-adjust the adjusters for proper cable tension and play.... -

I enjoy the different thought, opinions, ideas and innovations that we all share here. At least you dont have to take your eye ff the road to see the GPS unit... Cool beans! -

Not sure what part of my last appology was misunderstood Jack Please, let me try one more time. Jack, I am sorry if I posted something in "your thread" that didnt make sence to you or anyone else. My intent was not to hi-jack your thread at all. I "tucked my tail" in shame two posts ago with my first appology, when I said: Sorry if it didnt make any sence. I certainly hope you can find in in your heart to find my second appology acceptable.

Well Jack, I guess I was thinking it might have to do with a possible "dommino effect".. Aircraft engine manufactureer has a big lay off, aircraft manufacturing companies that use these engines cant get them, so they need to lay folks off, and with out engines there is less of a need for aircraft mechanics... Guess I was thinking out of the box.....I'll just go back in and be quiet... Sorry if it didnt make any sence.

Only problem I see with all these photos is that not one of them have ME in it.... sniff, tear, sniff........ Like Squidley, I too wish I could have been there..!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found this last week... Rolls Royce (Engine Manufaturer) - announcing a major lay off...see attachment. "787" and "Airbus 380" and other major aircraft manufacturing companies ...

Know what you mean about that wrenching feeling stuck on the road...my bike just quit on me one day on the way to Ft. Collins, and I thought my whole trip was over, but it started back up anf the trip was a complete success. Ive been looking for a bad RSV switch that I can play with to see what I can come up with to make an easy quick fix on the road for everyone that has this problem. If you ever know of anyone that has an old defective switch, tell them I am looking for one please. Oh, and Someday, I just might take you up on that lunch offer too......you never know what Im up to..

Im chiming in, but I am no expert on them.... Some other things to digest: Does the "unit" run on 12 volts? Does the unit "charger" run on 12 volts? Is the unit "vibration proof"? Does the unit come happen to come with an attachment to "swap" from bike to car Does the unit come with "2009" maps? Can you download new maps to the unit, if it does not have 2009 maps? There are many styles of attachments and bracketry available these days to fit most any make or model unit you choose..... Make sure you install an inline fuseable link when you hard wire it to your bike. If it comes with a "plug in" for the ciggarette lighter, the push in plug itself may have a fuse in the very end of it...if it does, make sure you carry a spare or two..
