  1. Ive been talking to my son who lives over there on north east side of Sidney, and he said the heat is just unbearable. Been breaking temperature records all month..and there are fires every where.
  2. My introduction to the RSV was the same as Halfwits introduction...happened in a showroom. My wife and I left the house to go purchase a brand new wing. At the showroom, I sat on a GW, and began asking the sales rep about this switch and that switch as to what they were for and basic questions about the bike. In the mean time, my wife was walking around the showroom just looking at other bikes. My wife was about 40 feet from me and she politely called out: HONEY, "what about this one" ...as she was pointing to an 05 liquid silver RSV. As I was sitting on the wing, I asked the sales rep; What kind of bike is that one over there? He said, Ah, thats nothing but a Yamaha Venture. You would be better off buying this one because your sitting on the best touring bike on the road right. I said I wanted to go look at it anyway to check it out, as I walked over to it I said..WOW.. I like it.. It was love at first site... I asked the sales rep, what does the GW have that this one doesnt have? He said, well the GW has reverse, and this one doesnt. I said, ok, what else. He said the GW has a CD player, this one doesnt. I said ok, what else. He said: The GW is an 1800 cc and the RSv is a 1300cc, lot more power with the gw I said ok, what else. He said thats about it.. I said well, for 6k in the difference in price, I think I could purcahse a CD player if I really wanted one, and as for reverse, I only need to make sure I park where I dont have to push this one backwards, so I would like to talk about a deal on this RSV. His price didnt agree with what I had in mind, so I left and the next day purchased an 05 RSV from another Yamaha dealer in Cullman, Al., and it was 3k less that what the first dealer wanted.. I have been very happy with it ever since
  3. If I'm thinking clearly, the rear jug fins are held on by 3 allen head bolts. One of those bolts also plugs a water port in the block (your leak). You can remove all three bolts, remove the cover and see which bolt plugs the water port. Only a spoon full of antifreeze will be lost.. Clean everything up good, use blue loc tight on thread portion of allen head bolts, and reinsert the allen head bolts ..Tighten as required...you should be fine.
  4. Dave, I have an angle grinder to grind the rod end down, a drill to open the tab hole if need be, and most any other tool necessary to help you with it. Just let me know when. Boxing it back up and shipping back and forth will be a PITA but as sure as I am typing this I know Larry will stand behind it and make it right. I will talk with you tomorrow at breakfast about it more and see what we can do to get you going right now in stead of shipping it back and forth. When I was there looking at it with you and Grey Fox last month, we had other things going on and it was a little cold to mess with it. Lets take another look at it if you want.
  5. then wipe off with Baby diaper. Really removes bugs and leaves a film that will help bead water. Dang Roadkill, I bet a baby diaper would leave a film and bead water:crackup:
  6. Bill, We definately need to meet up for that coffee at McDonalds and have a talk... Even at 80 you will have a ride sitting in the stable... even if it is only to look at...!
  7. Dont know of, and never heard of, any type of replacement seat cover for a 1st gen, 2nd gen or any other type bike out there on the road myself. E-bay might be a way to go to get a price value on a replacement seat. From that approximate dollar value you would be able to determine a fair dollar amount to have your old seat recovered based on what price you find on E-bay.. Another thought that you may want to consider is covering your old seat with sheeps skin or something to where you cant see the wear and tears in it..
