  2. yep..a safety switch it is... its for those little legged fellas around 5 yrs old who want to take dads new truck for an unknown spin.. If I remember correctly, it is located just above the clutch peddel and as the arm of the clutch peddel goes down, the switch is spring loaded and closes when the arm is pushed downward past a certain location being close to the floor so th elittle legged bogger cant push it down and be able to turn the key at the same time.. However it also may be located on the driver side of the transmission, just above the oil pan. It has three wires, and points sideways and slightly rearward.
  3. Il'd like to put in my two cents on this.. How does the GW compare to the RSV...? GW has a heck of a lot more power... (duh).. but who really rides over 70MPH ayway. Handles a lot better then the RSV. Low center of gavity -v/s - RSV being so top heavy IE = Yep the GW does have it and is very nice Heated seats = yep, but this inst a big selling point to me. Sound= I really think the RSV had a lot better sound then this GW does GPS- Well I know many RSV's that have GPS and they work just fine Reverse = I never park where I would need it anyway, same with my old RSV Comfort = Not near as nice as the RSV was. After market stuff - Yea, but RSV is coming along well in that arena too. RSV is a lot easier to work on RSV looks a lot better then seeing tupperware, however, tupperware is really easy to clean and takes a whole lot less time to do so. Storage capacity = pretty much the same
  4. My fuel pump petered out around 36k, and was replaced under warranty. All I can say is if you have a chance to pick up some slightly used items such as you mentioned and the price appears to be right in your eyes, then I surely would since your bike is out of it's warranty period..
  5. 8. You and your family are living one of my life long dreams Mike. One day, hopefully not to much longer, on a bike, I will head out that way and ride to where the sky meets the earth. I have longed to do what your doing, and see those parts of the world that you have already been blessed to see. I wish you all a safe journey. Thanks for the pics too....I looked at each one twice, then called my wife in to look at them again with me.
  9. check the kill switch and or kickstand switch.. Now wouldn't that just chap your butt if that is all it was......
  10. 04Midnight, You too have very valid points that one must take into consideration. You are correct that the cradle will always be "hot" and I may have over looked that because my Zumo had a rubber flip up flap that covered the contacts when you removed the GPS unit from the cradle. Not sure if his particular type has same rubber flap. However, as long as nothing metal or "conductive" touches them, no short can occur. But it is a concern that one should consider such as you have. Your also right that you would have to split the fairing anyhow for audio hook up. When I mentioned not having to split the fairing, I was not clear enough, but I meant that he would not have to split the fairing just to change out a fuse if his fuse blew out. Yes, he will have to split the fairing to hook up audio which can be done with a splitter from radio shack, but in my attempted explanation this would be a one time action, which is the same as yours. you have very valuable points to consider when installing the unit.
  11. From all the stuff he has had stollen over the last year I hope it has watch dog capabilities too...
  12. Some folks have it made.... Really neat pics there Mike. Hope you all have a safe enjoyable journey.

  14. ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com/SUN-VISOR-for-GARMIN-STREETPILOT-7200-7500_W0QQitemZ120401715624QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGPS_Maps_Software?hash=item120401715624&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50 You may have a craft store called Micheals or Hobby Lobby in your area. Lowes and Home Depot also have it. They all carry thin sheets of plastic that come in squares that are 12 inches by 12 inches and about .60 thick and come in black (or different colors). You can easily cut it with tin snips / sheers to the size you want and then heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun to fold the two edges down on the sides of the GPS unit. Put a little velco on it and wah-lah....your in buisness for about $3.00 OK, spend $6.00 or $9.00 for a couple trial pieces....
  15. Here is my two cents... just got to throw it in ya know.. To do what your talking about you have to split the fairing to get to it. Not that that is a big deal, but let me explain. Your GPS should come with an inline fuse holder with it. If not, it is very easy to install one, and they are fairly cheap too, found at any auto parts store or wally world. I myself, personally, would connect the GPS directly to the battery and have the inline fuse located where I find it very accessible to change if it ever did blow out. (Highly unlikely it will, but it could). Oh now, some may say they would rather have the GPS on a hot wire that is hot when key is on and cold when key is off.. However, I found sometimes I did not want the GPS on while riding and I would have to hit the on/off button on the GPS to shut it off when hooked up this way. Oh wait, either way, you will have to hit the on off button on the GPS unit no matter HOW you have it hooked up when you dont want it on when riding.. right..?? so to me it really doesnt matter how the unit is hooked up as long as you can get to the fuse easily...and this includes not having to splitting the fairing or having to remove the lower cowl to get to the stereo / radio fuse box, or pull the left side cover off. I located my inline fuse right in front of the battery under the seat..but note: I didnt have the seat hold down nuts installed holding my seat down either... I could lift my seat off in two seconds.. See, with my fat butt on it, it surely wasnt going anywhere and when I wrecked 4 weeks ago, do you really think I gave a darn about that seat flying off.......
  16. Steve, I can not see the type lights you purchased. The link doesnt work for me. I will send you my home email address, and you can send me a photo of the light from the front and rear so I can see the wires coming out of it. Would be happy to try to help you through the "wiring them up" process.. Oh, and I already thought of a place where you can "place them"........
  17. 99silver, Your trailer is really nice, and I surely didnt mean it looked bad at all by no means. Your right in that you built it to satisfy your needs as to how much you will use it. I'm just fond of Chrome and Liquid silver.......
  18. Very nice job indeed...!!!!!!!!!!!!! Paint job on the trailer looks great. Now some chrome wheels are in order to top it off......
  19. June 10th, a wednesday night evening.... I bet a whole bunch of folks will take off work in the middle of the week so they can be fed some BBQ by Yamaha.. If it was on held on the weekend it would cost Yamaha mega bucks... I wonder if they know that.......

  22. I did mine at the beginning of each summer just for that warm comfy feeling that I could make it through the summer with no problems.. I bought a carb tune and it works sufficient to do the job every year.
  23. Steve, I have never used a Airhawk seat cushion, but what I did was stopped at the local salvation army store and was lucky to find a wooden bead seat pad for $1.00 I laid the pad on my RSV seat and carefully cut the bead pad and with a heavy duty string, I sewed up along the outer edge shapeing it the same as my seat. This took me about 45 minutes total. Then I purchased some black fabric material from Wally World for $3.00 and then I took it to a seamstress and asked her to sew the wooden bead pad up inside the material as she double stitched around the outer edge for strength. (She charged me $5.00) When she was done, it looked profesionally made, and it fit my seat nicely. If it was going to rain, I could easlity remove it and put it in the center trunk. I will be making another one for my GW soon......it worked great..
