  3. Cougar, Not that I've searching and looking at GW stuff.....but this link may be of help with your new ride. Page down near the bottom and you will see the Kelly Blue book and other links to tell you what it is worth. And if your wife happens to "change your mind" I'll take first in line to buy it. http://www.ridetwisties.com/mike2.htm
  4. The way your explaining the sound it only does it on take off not on decel..which I would think eliminates your exhaust and carb sync. You may have a worn rear wheel bearing where some of the ball bearings are flattened and when you take off they "SNAP" as they try to roll in the wheel bearing race. Could also be worn Swing arm bearings and the swing arm is "flopping/ snapping" from the torque on take off.. Could be a loose muffler bracket and the muffler is hitting the rear frame just under one of the saddle bags. Could be your rear caliper is loose..and snapping back into place and by luck it hasn't "grabbed" thus locking the rear brakes up.. Could be a loose rear axle..check to see if the pinch bolt is loose and the axle nut is tight.
  5. Yep, the county we live in is a lot quieter these days and my neighbors enjoy the sound of silence. I look forward to many more miles of making memories with you. Welcome back son.

  14. Beautiful........ My luck the Buffalo would either attack me or stop to do it's business right in front of me and I would have to drive through it..
  15. What........no cooler full of beer on the rack yet........dang, that comes FIRST... Looks really nice guy..!!
  16. I just now realized that you have a 2007 RSV... As already mentioned and strongly advised abve, I would take this to the dealer and let them fix it..
  17. It does sound as though your caliper is stuck or at minimum, has been sticking. If you are mechanically inclined, remove the caliper and first "clean up" the sides of the piston and use lots of WD-40 to remove any rust and or crud. The using a small "C" clamp, see if it is easy to push th episton back into the caliper. If you have to use "force" on the "c" clamp, then the piston is stuck (or sticking).. The piston must be able to move in and out. If you can get the piston to where you can push it back into the cvaliper with only your fingers, then I would say it is pretty much freed up..but then assemble everything and then go for a little ride, then get off and see if the rotor is hot or if you have that smell again of burnt brake pads...
  18. Good luck Randy I pray all goes well and you are back in the saddle again enjoying life soon.
  19. Don, If I can be of any help moving them over, just let me know....
  20. This may or may not help you. I leave for work at 10am and I do not get home until 10:30pm If you send me the name of the motel and address you are staying at, I will over night a "used" set to you. This means I will mail them out "tomorrow morning" (Thursday morning) which means the brake pads will not get there until Friday morning. I have a used set of rear pads. One is a little thicker then the other. You always place the thickest pad on the inside since it wears out faster.. Like Randy said above, you may be able to swap the rear inside worn out pad to the outside and the outside pad to the inside, to get you to a parts store... Maybe if one of the others (who jumped in above) could over night you their set, you could have a set of pads by tomorrow morning.
  21. He Boo, what did you do...have that bike on its center stand the whole time? Dang, that is a lot of miles for a rear bike tire. Must say I'm impressed, because I have never seen that many miles on a rear bike tire. Looks like you could get a few thousand more out of it too......
  22. I feel bad for your bike being damaged, but I must be truthful here. If I placed my bike out in the driveway to clean it up.....and then later on my wife wants to cut the grass, I think I would have moved my bike back into the garage and closed the door so that grass and dust would not get all over my cleaned bike..... And besides, just knowing there are pine cones laying around in the yard and knowing that they have been run over in previous days / years.. that experience alone would have told me to move my bike.... Dang, Im sorry guy but sometimes we just have to tell the truth.....

    Bike Cleaning

I just use the handle of a toothbrush and one of those micro fiber rags.. The flat end section of the toothbrush fits between each fin real nice and the rag cleans it very well.
