Rear wheel hub pins need grease on them. This and has been a repeatable issue with the RSV. Easy fix though. One you could do if you wish or you can have the dealer do it under warrenty. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13263 In your case, I would have the dealer do it and also have them grease "BOTH" ends of the drive shaft while they are in there........then ask for a reciept showing that they greased both ends of the drive shaft, and the rear hub in case you ever have problems in the future....
  10. Hey only kidding Ruffey......I would enjoy you being around for a long while too but not so sure if I would want you around FOREVER.... When I looked the Kaw voyager, I noticed the lower front cowlings were made very thin and are really flimsy.. They need to be made thicker or have some support added if you ask me. Leg length was great, flat footed easily. Handlebars seemed to be in about the right place, but would need extensions.
  11. Well, I was going to resolve this problem but ............ I just cant see someone else being named.................... ECK..
  12. John, I wish you the best. Do what the rehab folks tell you to do and get back in shape. I wish your family peace of mind while you go through this. Look forward to seeing you on the road again soon
  13. Dan, Maybe you and I could enter photos of our wrecked bikes as a reminder to all to ride safe.. A calendar of "wrecked bikes".........uh........lets hear it.......
  14. I cant say anything more then what has already been said about Brad and Lonna. Great folks they are...!!!!!!!! I also feel that every person I have met on this site falls into the same category as Brad and Lonna do. There hasn't been one bad apple that came from VR.Org (well...other then 86er/ Todd......). VR.Org seems to attract only the best of the best from all over.
  15. Well they say bike riders ride all day long with no brains........ BUT, to answer your question...yes.. I met a gentleman who had a claw for his left hand and he was riding a Harley. We met at a stop light and I just had to ask him how he is able to shift and ride using it. He said: Heck, after using it so long it becomes like a habit just as yours do with your normal limbs............. sounded good emough for me to accept..
  16. The maintenance day you are reading about now is most likely Freebirds maintenance day. June 6th, 2009, Freebird's Maintenance Day. Oberlin, OH http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=35712 This is a day that Don (the creator of this site), set up a while back and has become a major day of activity right at his house in Oberlin, Ohio. Many people show up to have things done on thier bikes while others come to watch and mingle with all the other folks. Do provides a catered lunch on this day and a donation can is avaible to make donations to off set the costs to Don. As far as having a maintenance day in or around your area (or state) this is set up by you or someone else who has some knowledge of bikes and has some basic / nessisary tools to help other members (and nonmembers) work on thier bikes doing basic maintenance, like oil changes, brake pads, adding accessories and such. Hope this helps explain a little for you.
  17. coat hanger and a magnet... go fishing in your side bag. Your son knows where he placed the key at in the side bag, and hopefully you can fish it out by prying up "carefully" on the rear of the bag and pushing a coat hanger inside with a magnet taped to the end of it.. I was able to get a broom handle inside of a side bag one time so I know you have room for a coat hanger.........
  18. I know it's a little over the $299.00 budget you mentioned, but If your as old as me and need to be able to see...this is what I put on my GW http://reviews.gpsfaq.com/about.aspx?detail=streetpilot7200 Garmin 7200 I paid.......Our Price:$275.95
  19. Read my post above... you dont need to remove the battery...!!!!!!!!
  20. Sleeperhawk, If you want to take my audessy battery with you, you are more then welcome to use it to see if it really IS your battery. I can bring it to you in Athens if you want it.
  21. If removing the battery doesnt do it try this. The Garmin Tech had me do this and it worked for me. Push in on the top left and the bottom right buttons together at the same time and hold them for about 20 seconds and it should come on. The Garmin tech told me that is how they set them at the factory in place of removing the battery. If you need another Garmin 550 battery, I just happen to have a darn good one...cheap..
