Hey Boo, I think a cold six pack of Miller Light would be most helpful about now....... Wish I was closer my friend..

If the whole base is turning you are in a pickle...because it broke off the backing plate. You should be able to use a pair of needle nose pliers and bend one edge of the brass base of the BULB inward where you can get ahold of it with the needle nose pliers. From there you can push in and turn to your left to remove the bulb. You can also spray WD-40 or some other lubricant in the socket to help aid the broken light bulb base out of the socket. If the outer socket is turning all the way around, you most likely already busted the soldering on the rear side of the backing plate. You can resolder this if you do not break the backing plate. Just carefully remove the backing plate to see where the socket is broken and resolder it.

Looks like a nice place with that bath tub that would hold several of us at one time. I know I was able to climb up all the way up into that life guards chair, I'ld just have to take a long nap..Then I'ld fall out of it breaking my dang neck. Is there a ladder available to get up into that chair? Man that is high for that size pool. Hell, we could all slide off the house roof right into the pool.........sounds like a plan anyway..

Sitting on the side of the road in Michigan

My guess.. it is your fuel pump or ignition switch. When my fuel pump went out I could hear it clicking but it wasnt pumping... made the sounds as if it were pumping but it would not pump any gas. It may also be this connector that is located under your gas tank that goes to you ignition switch. Only way to tell is by removing the gas tank and looking to see if your connection burnt out like mine did. see below link: [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32359]Ignition Switch Wiring Failure - VentureRider.Org[/ame] If you think it is your ignition switch, you could install the emergency by-pass switch and have it ready when your bike quits. Then just filp the by-pass switch and see if it starts. Emergency by-pass switch installation info here: [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=512]Emergency Ignition Switch Repair - VentureRider.Org[/ame] -
I'm pretty sure that he meant fold-up lug wrench... No, he probably meant a tire iron ... Your showing your age Eck!! Yep, as already said, I'm just showing my age. To me they are one and the same ..Lug wrench or tire iron..either way, it sure is hard to remove a tire with out one. The one I am speaking of at Wal-Mart Sleeperhawk, is a 4 way lug wrench that folds up and you place it in a carrying pouch that comes with it. It is easy to pack and doesn't take up much room. Being a 4 way lug wrench it fits 4 different lug nut sizes and can be used on other tires around the house like riding lawn mower and vehicles. Here is a link to an example of what I am speaking of. http://cgi.ebay.com/Lug-Wrench-4-Way-Wheel-Tire-Fold-Up-Stow-Away-Folding_W0QQitemZ360173821615QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090724?IMSfp=TL090724168007r13432

Not sure were his windshield broke at. My guess, is likely along the bottom where the attach screws are. This means there should be a piece about 2 inches wide that broke off from the rest of the windshield. If someone close by could add a "splint" using a thin aluminum sheet (even thin plexiglass) that is about 4 to 6 inches wide and then the width of his windshield in length, you can just screw it to his exsisting windshield. Even if you have to use longer screws to get him home.. You could also make a double split where a piece is placed on both sides of the broken windshield and then drill holes clean through both pieces and 'sandwich" the broken windshield between the two splint pieces.. He has to replace it anyway so it really doesnt matter how you install the splint where the windshield broke. The quick fix is only so he can make it home. If nothing else, cut the bottom of the broken windshield clean off and re-drill new mounting holes.....basically lowering the height of the windshild...

Condor, I pray peace will be with your friend and his family as he enters this operation and that the overall outcome is one we can all celebrate in joy with you. I hope his recovery is a speedy one and of little to no pain or suffering, and I trust the Dr's hands will be "carefully" guided with the utmost wisdom.

George, For what they cost, I would replace them to be mind free of possible future problems. In replacing them, I would buy the tire and rim complete because you can use the old ones on your trailer to keep and use for spares... I am about to buy one new tire and rim for my trailer because I already have a new tire on a rim for a spare. I will mount this one on the trailer with the new one I buy, and keep the two old tires mounted on the old rims for spares. After that, the next time I need tires, I will just buy tires....but I will always have a spare. Oh, and dont forget to pick up one of those fold up tire irons from wal-mart...

glad to hear he is out of coma and alive and remembers you and his family. Maybe if he saw a picture of you and him on a bike ride, one where he can see his bike and yours, but not his crashed bike. A photo of you two on a bike ride or trip might bring back just some basic riding memories for him.. you could show him several photos of you and him on rides and of his bike, then include one or two of his wrecked bike and see if leads into the conversation or brings back any of his memory. Ask the Dr. first to see if it would be ok to show him the photos... for I am no Dr.

Changing the oil is a real PITA on them.....ask Nason here on the site about it. you pour in a little oil, start it up, rev it a few times to pump the oil into the engine, shut it off, add a little more oil, start it up, rev it a few times shut it off, add more oil and so on until you get the required amount added. Nason hated changing the oil in his 1700... .

Is my muffler shot? If so...now what?
Eck replied to Semi-retired's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
(quote) Lastly, and most apprehensively.......what's the least expensive way out of this problem? Well I just happen to have the stock mufflers off my 05 RS-venture that you can have, but to use them, you will need to have a little welding done because of what I did to them. When I installed a set of HD mufflers, I ground off the three small weld spots that hold the "chrome dome" piece located on the forward end of the stock mufflers. When I did this I accidentally ground into the muffler just a we-tiny bit to far and there is a very small hole where the spot weld was. Al you would need to do is take the mufflers to a muffler shop or a local welder, and have them put a spot of weld over the 3 small holes. Then you will have to cut the chrome pieces off your stock mufflers and let the same welder spot weld them on my mufflers and there you have two brand new stock mufflers for the price of 6 spot welds. The welder should not charge you any more then $10 to $20 bucks to spot weld your two chrome muffler ends onto my old stock mufflers. So the cost of what ever he charges you in welding and the cost of shipping the mufflers to you is all you would have tied up in a new set of stock mufflers. Find someone on the site here that welds who lives close to you and maybe you could buy him lunch and a cold drink for welding it for you....
