  1. Mike, I can not say for sure if this is your problem, but I would check it anyway to be sure it is not or will not be a future problem.... sorry, but you must take the gas tank off to check this connector out. [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32359]Ignition Switch Wiring Failure - VentureRider.Org[/ame] Something else to check or look for: Not sure if you have a back rest. If you do, make darn sure the rear steel brace does not (or has not) pinched the wire harness that is on the front side of your rear fender. The steel bracket / brace will push up against this harness when you sit in the seat and lean back and cause it to short out...just ask me how I know... Stop on the side of the road and pick up a piece of old truck tire. Its just the right thickness..Take a hack saw and cut a small square about 2 inch by 1 inch wide from it and wedge this piece of rubber between the steel brace and your rear fender. Make sure the wire harness is to the side of this rubber piece and not under or over it. Now when you lean back the pressure is on the rubber and nothing will touch the wire harnes again. good luck........

Yep, with a 1st gen you might need that rolling work shop.. Hey, Im only picking at you... When I had my enclosed trailer to haul my 2nd gen, I had it fixed up with tool box, fan, work shelf, air bed, air compresser, 110 and 220 volts inside and out..and even a coffee pot......with two fold up chairs.
  3. if it had a center stand... I think if need be, we can find a cement block or something simular, and with two people (one each side) we can grab front crash bars and carefully pick it up high enough to place on the cement block to adjust the neck bearings... even a small screw jack from a camper and have a couple folks hold the bike while working on it...
  4. So sorry to hear of this sad news. My thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and friends at this very trying time.
  5. Robert, I sure hope your health is something that will not keep you down and that you will one day ride again. Sorry to hear your selling, but I wish you good luck with selling your bike.
  6. Wes, You will need to have a jack to get the front tire off the ground, to adjust the bearings. If someone has one I will adjust our bearings for you..

  11. Heck you should be up and riding in 4 days...... Had mine out, next day spent in hospital, went home on 3rd day, 4th day I was changing snow tires on a tire maching at work ........still had seven stitchs in my side. But I didnt have insurance at that time in my life and I had to work so I could pay the hospital bill......wont do that again.
  12. (quote) The one that came on the bike is of unknown make or model to me In my opinion after reviewing the photos, the rack appears to be a home made rack that someone made, and then they had it chromed. Even the attaching angles and doubler plates on the inside, (to me), just dont appear to be factory made. If this is true, you will play havac in matching the hole patteren with another rack. I myself would probubly just go buy the rack that I want, and plug the 4 holes in the trunk lid. You can take the lid off, have the holes filled and sanded, then match painted to your bike, and then just drill new holes to match the new rack that you really want. just my 2 cents

  22. Nate, I know you feel like the world is resting on your shoulders about now, but in an effort to make you laugh .........I got to say I sure as heck couldnt sleep along your side and listen to that snoring of yours either... Heck, one night of your snoring at Sleeperhawks place was enough for me......and I even moved down stairs and could still hear you.. But, all in all I sure enjoyed meeting you and really enjoyed the laughs we had that night. As for your future: At times it may seem like there is no light at the end of the tunnel, but trust me Nate, there is..
  23. Sorry to hear about the loss of your riding buddy Taz. I'm sure he took with him many fine memories of riding with you to.
