  1. Mike, On reinstalling your rear wheel to the bike, I highly reccomend you do the following... Leave acorn nuts fairly loose...this is after you lube and re-install the drive shaft. Grab just the rear axle, and slip it through both sides of the swing arm as you normally would BUT with out the rear wheel...just use the axle only here..no need for the large axle washer or nut.. Now begin snugging up the acorn nuts "SLOWLY" in a rotation manor / criss cross patteren..do not tighten them, just snug them up little by little. As you do this you must also slowly turn the axle to feel if it is binding..It should turn freely at all times..You are only turning the axle not the drive shaft...keep snugging up the acorn nuts one at a time in the criss cross patteren until they are properly torqued per spec.. Now you can easily remove the axle and continue to install the rear wheel as you normally would. The axle will slip right back into place through the rear wheel and you will have no binding at all on the axle, wheel or drive shaft alignment. You do not have to put the axle through the rear caliper mounting bracket when slowly snugging up the acorn nuts..!!! I have always done this and it makes it really easy to reinstall the rear wheel...
  2. Hey Dragonrider and Joe Thanks for the kind words........!! Joe, if you still are looking for a stock black cover I have one of those also.. You can have it but you reimburse me on the shipping........ Eck
  3. (1) Snap ring pliers... (2) Gun cleaning brush...medium to soft..do not use a steel brush.. this is to clean the rust out of rear pin hub holes. Use brush carefully and slowly in a hand drill and it will clean the heck out of them. You do not want to enlarge them, just clean them. (3) "Q" tips to replace grease on hub pins and in hub pin holes so you don't get it all over you.. (4) Wrench for acorn nuts on drive shaft housing (12mm if I remember) (5) Wrench or socket to remove rear caliper bracket and caliper. (12mm or 14mm=forgot) (6) Wrench / socket to remove right side muffler (7) Allen wrench to remove left side cover (8) Stiff coat hanger wire to slip into hole under rubber plug on drive shaft housing to lift up on drive shaft when reinstalling it. Shape the wire end into a letter "J" hook.. (9) flashlight to look up drive shaft housing to see direction the yoke is laying (10) A few cold ones and a chair.......
  4. Glad to hear your up and about again. Wont be long and you'll even be able to go out and cut the grass with a push mower........ then you can ride...

  6. Was it purple?..........
  7. This rust was completely hidden by the trim. Is the car lot owner legal obligation to help me with this?? Dan, I would not think there is much the dealer can do if your first sentence is true. I mean if he didn't see the rust and you didn't see the rust I have to ask, where did he intentionally try to deceive or mislead you? This appears to me that it falls into that old saying.. "Buyer beware"... There was a 1000 mile or something like that power train warranty. This seems like he was trying to give you a fair deal..... I know this is not what you wanted to hear my friend, but you asked and I am only giving my opinion based on your post. hugs..
  8. 6mm .........I think Mark.......... Switching gears...Sorry the Huntsville group petered out........
  9. I'll take 4 of the 2nd gen pins when your ready.
  10. OPs, your right... I didnt add five years to 02.......didnt pay attention.. sorry.. ABS plastic repair would work. Maybe you can get to the inside or underside where no one could see the repair..you could also usae a little sheet of fiberglass and spread the ABS repair glue over it to make the repair stronger.....
  11. I made my own verticle hitch and my rear mud flap hid it. Only time anyone knew I had one is when I was carrying my cooler.. Safety chains will not hit the rear fender unless the trailer itself comes off the hitch ball and the trailer tonge is bouncing up and down in a real frenzy..then your in a pickle anyway and I dont think you or anyone would be worrying about some little chain mark on the bottom of your rear fender..
  12. Pick, Place bike in netural. Push down on the rear brake peddle...kind of hard like you about to hit a car.. Release it.. Now reach under and see if you can turn the rear tire by hand. Does it turn freely..dont forget the driveshaft is hooked up so yo uwil lhave some drag on it, but does it feel like the rotor is dragging in the caliper? If not, your pistons are not hanging up and your problem is: (softer) pad that you installed or your brake line still has air in it. You said; you have to PUMP THEM UP ..........if you have to pump them up at all, you have air in the line...!!!!!!
  13. You could fix it or you can go back to the dealer and tell them you want it replaced on warrenty.. Its covered under the warrenty..
  14. Slowly heat it with your wifes hair dryer...not too hot, but heat it up and slowly pull it off. If you have to scrape it at all, use finger nail or another piece of plastic to lift a corner then pull with fingers. Once it is off you can use a small dab of silicone or W-D40 on a rag and the adhesive residue will wipe right off..
  15. With out looking at it, by your description, it sounds like one or both of the carb's for the right bank are running rich, or a possibility of a right carb float may be sticking. I would run a can of sea foam through the tank then run a full tank of fuel through it and then check it to see if it clears up. The sea foam will break lose the gunk in the carb's that may be the cause of a float sticking. It surely cant hurt it.
  16. I joined in April of 05.......then the crash in 06 gave all of us new start dates.
  17. good luck Don. Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
  18. As already mentioned and as you should know by now, you are in our thoughts and prayers Don.
  19. As many here know, I have a GW. After already riding a little over 11k since first weekend of May this year, I can say the Venture is a much more comfortable bike. I loved my venture and took pain-staking hours to keep it up. The Venture, as one already above mentioned, is a breeze to work on compaired to the Wing. Just changing brake pads is a PITA on a wing. The seat on a Venture is much more comfortable then the seat on a wing. The stereo on a venture out does the stereo on the 01 thru 05 wings. In 06 GW came out with a whole better stereo then the Venture. As for a VR.Goldwing site, I personally dont think there would be enough GW riders here to pay for it. Hell We cant get but a few of the 8k plus members to be "supportive members" on this Venture site. Anyone needing tech help on thier wing, i would be happy to help on the things I have learned about the wing if anyone needs GW help. All in all, the Venture is a beautiful ride. The GW may have more power, but the Venture has many benifits that the wing does not have.
  20. Thanks George, I wont be able to make it because I will be having company from Ohio coming in and spending that weekend with us. Im takeing off 5 days at that time to spend with them. And heck, I cant afford a bushtec.............
  21. Man I really enjoyed the M&E. Lots of people and many bikes. Two 1st gens..1-Vulkary, 1-Harley, 1-Three wheeler, and the rest were 2nd gens (I think), and one Monte Carlo..ops did I say that.. After we left Rome, my wife and I drove straight through to Sarasota, Fl. We arrived here at 11pm last night. We stopped and ate dinner and then just set the Cruise at 79mph for the most part. Had to slow down three times due to weather (rain)..could not see more than 100 feet in front of us twice.. Lots of police cars too.. One guy in a caddy was doing 85, so I picked it up and stayed with him for about 80 miles.. my wife said she wanted to use the bathroom, so I kicked off the cruise and as I was getting into the right hand lane, there was a State Tropper hideing in the trees on the right and his blue lights came on and off he went after the caddy.. Thank God for potty calls.. Anyway, enjoyed the M&E and I thank Blackjack for his help in pulling this thing together and I thank everyone who made there for thier support in making this event happen.

ONE Written by Cheryl Sawyer As the soot and dirt and ash rained down, We became one color. As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building, We became one class. As we lit candles of waiting and hope We became one generation. As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno We became one gender. As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength, We became one faith. As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement, We spoke one language. As we gave our blood in lines a mile long, We became one body. As we mourned together the great loss We became one family. As we cried tears of grief and loss We became one soul. As we retell with pride of the sacrifice of heros We become one people. We are One color One class One generation One gender One faith One language One body One family One soul One people We are The Power of One. We are United. We are America.
