I think you did it ..........to keep your bike.............,,,

Hey Lewis, I see Charleen must be on her pain meds and asleep....... When my wife took her pain meds they knocked her out for a couple hours so that gave me time for the net...
-
Not sure this will help but I have hear others mention this trick.. Remove the battery completely and leave it out for about 5 minutes, then reinstall it and see if that reset it. I am surprised that a Garmin tech didn't walk you through several steps / attempts to resolve the problem. I have always had great service from Garmin techs when I called them on mine. I would call them back and ask them again for more tech service to resolve your problem.

Certainly glad to see your at home and starting down the road to recovery Charleen. As you go down that road just remember there are many people thinking and praying for you and those thought just may seem to ease some pain and discomfort along the way. Sure cant wait to see you up and about again and when you can get around please make sure you kick Lewis in the shin for me.. Good luck and best wishes on your recovery. Eck

How to tell if the rear shock it going bad?
Eck replied to Gamecock's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Ben The quickest way I know of to check the rear shock for leaking fluid is like this: With the bike sitting on side stand leaning to the left, it is best if you lay on the flooor of the right side of your bike (when looking forward). Carefully pry up the "bottom edge" of the black rubber boot that is around the rear shock and check to see if any oil is visible. If the inside of the rubber boot is wet, or if there are ANY signs of oil, then your rear shock leaks. As already mentioned, if it has no oil but yet it does hold air, then you have one heck of an air shock that is worthless. Be ready to spend some big bucks to replace it.. -
Weather in Fort Myers should be highs in the 70 (+) with lows in the high 40's to low 50's... Great riding weather Boo.. to bad you dont have your bike this time. Hope you and Jane have a wonderful trip and stay. Hope to see you both again soon. Eck

I agree Goose... (If Looking forward, sitting on seat), it appears the right lower fairing was installed first, then the lower left and that is when they realized they goofed and decided to just leave it alone.. The lower left, (drivers side) must be installed first, then the lower right side fits over it, then the screw from underneath that Sleeperhawk spoke of is what holds them together

home printer - ink jet or laser
Eck replied to a topic in Computer help and tips for using this site.
We have an HP Office Jet J5750 All-In-One..printer, scanner, copier, fax..and so many other buttons and options that I don't need to know about.... This is the best one we have ever had... Works great and has for two years now with out any problems -
Certainly great news Lewis...Hope Charleen recovers as quick as my wife did. My wife is now able to drive and do whatever she wants to do ....so says the Dr..but getting her back to cooking and doing laundry, cleaning house just isn't working..ha Hey, one thing you should do is pick up any and all throw carpets so she does not trip on any of them..Would hate to see her walker catch a throw carpet and down she goes. Thanks for the update.. Eck

ediddy, I have to disagree with you if I may.. because I think you are speaking of or relating to, the TWO outer edge inner fairing support holes that always break on 2nd gens, but Dennis is saying that he found the plastic around 4 of the 6 windshield mounting holes was cracked completely through. This is in the windshield itself...see his pics. The two outer edge, inner fairing supports always break on 2nd gens and I am sure that his is definitely broke in these two places, and v7goose does have a repair on them in the tech section. I never had a broken windshield hole on my 2nd gen RSV in the 5 years I had it.

I had a set on my Venture and they were on there for at least 4 years with not one problem. In fact, they weren't even broke after my nasty accident. I really liked the feel of them for they fit my hands / grip very well. My fingers never got numb but I didn't have the stock weights installed, I had the Eck Stend A Grips installed and they were much heavier then the stock weights. I am looking at installing them on my Gold Wing...

This tire is 1" narrower than stock, but the same diameter. Bike sits exactly the same height front and rear. Dennis, You are one lucky guy...in that you found this (caught it) before you were doing 70 MPH down the highway and it blew off into your face.......... I am really glad you found this now... This is something all RSV members should look at for personal safety reasons. I would really hate to hear one blew off and hurt them and their passenger... If I recall, someone lost theirs on the way to Don's Maintenance day or maybe it was someone on the way to Vogel. I forgot which rally it was but someone did have a windshield come off. Just glad you found it Dennis...

Yes, the RSV will support the heating items mentioned but I would recommend you leave the running lights and any LED accessory lights off while using the heated clothing. But hey, that is MY 2-cents worth of a suggestion..

Sorry for your loss, but I swear I didn't kill it ........... I did post last week that I was fixin to kill a cat for getting on my clean bike, but I was only joking. I don't like cats, never have and never will, but I have never hurt one in 57 years either... Good luck with the family decision.....

Lewis, Our hearts and thoughts and prayers are with Charleen and you, as you both go through this ordeal. We all hope she has a great Doctor, with a "specially guided hand", and that she has a 100% recovery. I personally hope that after she is all better and over this, that she is able to chase you around the block and even be able to kick you in the buttocks a couple times just for the heck of it. At least one kick for each one of us...

Bill, I'm not sure if your wife is ever ponders with the idea of why you don't swap "wife's" as often as you do bikes....but then again, maybe she has...

Goose, Thanks for jumping in with the answer to what I was trying to tell him. It has been a while since I worked on Ventures, and I knew it there was a plug behind the fake cover but could not remember exactly where. Sorry I had to leave earlier to take my wife to therapy, and then grocery shopping, and we just got back. I was going to jump in right now and search for what you already explained to him. Thanks again !! Eck

Do not remove your gas tank yet.. It sounds like one of the seals on the left rear side engine cover is leaking.. I would remove the left rear side engine cover: Remove the 3 Allen head screws, and the cover should come right off. Look for which of the three screw holes is leaking. There is a small seal that leaks. If I remember correctly you can add a thin washer to the back side of the cover to press in on the seal when you tighten the Allen head screw. This seams to stop it temporairily... I am signing off to search for the tech article on how to fix and I will be right back.
