  1. (Quote) Riderduke has discovered the beginnings of his "Hair-him". I saw Riderduke's Hair-him first hand at the restaurant... In fact, I received a call from another VR member asking me to change Riderduke's name to another name that would truly go along with his new Hair-him, but I decided I would not change his name because that is not what being a moderator is about ...once was enough as a joke but that was the end of it for me.
  2. I personally will never stay in the Motel 6 again in Amherst... Last year, I almost whipped the snot out of two pimps outside my door. They kept bringing in male and female clients to the room along side mine and kept me awake all night from the commotion. I kicked the door between our two rooms about 8 times telling them to knock it off and then I realized that that is just what they were doing... I called the front office and they said there was nothing they could do about it.. never again will I stay there.....!!
  3. That's not nice...cause I resemble that growing older remark..
  4. Hey Pick, Sure hope your doing well now, as you walk down the road of recovery. My wife had both her shoulders done and just from watching he go through that experience I know there is lots of pain that you carry with you right now. I wish you the best.. hang in there. Eck
  5. Sounds like we have another skilled mechanic to help out at our Florida Maintenance days.. Some things are very easy on the RSV... and some things are very time consuming. All in all though I think it is a fairly easy bike to work on. Wanna try tearing a Goldwing apart..dang what a mess..
  6. I wouldn't be here if it was not for wearing my helmet when this accident happened. I just had to post reminder photos of not only my helmet, but also my beautiful 05 Venture. Summer is upon us and cagers are not looking for motorcycles.. Please ride safe..
  7. Well of course, but I did forget to mention that ...thanks for the follow up.
  8. Faulty kick stand switch maybe....?? Lets see.. a couple of ...and a nap should do it..
  9. Hey Dennis, You may as well just go out and buy a bigger gas grill to go with that new tool box...this way we know where we could go for a TECH day M&E..
  10. Im cheap... I use a plastic drink bottle. I drilled a small hole in the cap, and then inserted a clear hose that fits the zirt fitting. I then put some RTV sealant on inside and out side of cap to seal the hose in the cap. To bled the brakes, I place a brake line wrench on a fitting, then squeeze the bottle as I put the hose on the fitting, then I open the bleeder and slowly release grip on bottle and wha-la.. sucks the brake fluid right out into the bottle..
  11. Wonder if the swing arm is bent...(towards the side that is bald)... I would jack rear tire off the floor about one inch, then place a small 6 inch in length piece of 2x4 on the floor, and slide it up to where it just meets the tire and check to see if the "center" of the tire is hitting the 2x4 or if the edge of the bald side of the tire is hitting the 2 x 4.. You can also measure from the floor to the edge of the rim on each side to see if your wheel is level providing floor is somewhat level..and or measure from the floor to the bottom edge of the rear axle. I would also look to see if the tire is "seated" on the rim evenly by looking at the line in the bead that is very close to the edge of the rim.. The tire could have been installed incorrectly on the rim where the bead of the tire did not seat properly to the rim.
  12. SDWooster, To add a little more to what Freebird mentioned, I would have a spray bottle of soapy water ready, then put about 35 lbs of air into the rear shock. remove the air compressor hose and immediately I would spray a little soapy water onto the air inlet valve itself to make sure the valve core is not leaking first..it just might only be a leaking valve core.... Then I would continue to check the complete air line system as Freebird mentioned by spraying the connection on the underside of the air inlet line and then following the air line to where it connects to the rear shock and spray that connection.
  13. Yep, seen these posted here before. Neat little things they are. Sure wouldn't care if it was raining...
  14. Sounds like it is getting fuel after it sits for a little while..but it sounds like the fuel pump to me since it only runs for a few minutes/ seconds.. Please note that my RSV did the same thing, and I found out it was the fuel pump.. My fuel pump "clicked" when key was turned on, but it wasn't pumping fuel..it would run for a little bit after sitting for a while, but then it would "run out of gas..because the pump stopped pumping. Had the fuel pump changed under warranty and never had another issue with it To check the fuel pump, you can remove the left side cover, remove the fuel pump from it's mounting bracket, look at it to locate the "out" going side and then hook a hose to it and run that hose into a container..then turn the key on and see if it continues to pump fuel... Caution first: make sure pump is grounded before turning on key.. (or be ready for a BOOM....). Other thoughts: A vacuum line off somewhere or leaking. Something didnt crawl up in it and block the air...(squirrel maybe)...
  15. Jim, It is normal for the hoses to have an oil residue on them. The residue will appear on all four hoses. The air flow under the bike and around the hoses blows it onto all four of them. After a HARD ride (70mph - pluss) you may also notice a spot/ drip or two of oil...This is also normal If you constantly see a drop or spot of oil (especially after an oil change) there may be just a tad to much oil in the block. To check, you can place a 6 inch piece of a 2x4 block of wood under the side stand to help aid you in standing the bike up straight. Then you can check the oil sight glass which is located on the right underside of the engine near the front end of the right floor board. Oil level should never be over the top mark on the sight glass. See your owners manual for proper markings on oil sight glass and its actual location. After running the bike on the interstate at say 70mph or so, you will notice the hoses look damp with oil..no need to worry at all for this is normal. I was worried/ concerned, (as you are) and found it to be nothing at all as long as you never over fill with oil. It is OK and you are able to ride it with no worries. Eck
  16. Todd, I must say you have done everything I can think of to get it bled correctly. Wish I lived closer where I could help you and see what we could do with it. Heck, we could at least drink a few cold ones while pondering the issue... Hope you, or someone, figures out the problem and it gets fixed like it should be. Good luck my friend. Eck
  17. My bad..... I didn't read your posting clearly (sorry), and missed "the plugs are firing solid". On my 05 RSV, I only had to remove the left side cover, the center cover fuel pump (while still mounted to the fuel pump bracket), and I was able to get right to the fuel filter.
  18. might want to also check your coils............

  21. I watched CNN news last night and they had a 10 minute warning report that was saying there is going to be one heck of a cyber attack on computers over the next week. They said the attack will be on several businesses and personal computers and then they went on letting you know at minimum what you should have on your computer to avoid the attack. They said this will be one of the largest and most sophisticated attacks ever and that they are out to get personal info from your computer and possibly into bank accounts. I'm not saying this to cause a "fire" here, but to provide notification for all to protect their computers with a firewall and virus ware.
  22. Bobbie, I cant believe you let George lay all that stuff on the hood of your mustang. HI GEORGE............
  23. Jerry, Nice looking GW, and HD and a very nice looking corral to keep them in.. If you have any questions on the GW, feel free to ask. Not saying I know everything about them but I may be able to help you to save a lot of bucks and show you how to do things on it yourself. I have been working on mine and have learned several things about the GW's. Just send me an email or you can call me. My phone number is in my profile..
