  2. (Quote) Two of them even traded their 1800 Goldwings for Ultras. Ouch... that hurts...
  3. I would check for a loose caliper on front wheel. It could be just the brake pads being a little loose in the calipers..
  4. Don, I thought I already placed an order a while back, but I dont see where I did, so I am placing another order right now.. I will take (1) Tee shirt XXL with no pocket I will take (1) Tee shirt XL with no pocket I will send pay pal later on today after my wife wakes up and fills me in on what our pay pal info is.. 5. Hey guys, Im here... We are moved in, still getting settled, but we have our new home phone and cable hooked up, so I can now get back on line again. Job is going great. Undergoing lots of training on thier procedures and computer systems, but all in all it is going fine so far.. Found out that the birds in Iuka fly upside down ... because there is nothing to poop on.. What a small town this is ...laid back with no city hussel and bussel..which is totally different from what I am used to but I like the slower pace. The people are really friendly here too. Guess they arent used to seeing anyone...ha Ruffy, no need to worry my friend..I have a very nice bike and a beautiful wife, and both take really good care of me.... but I still would like to be the benificiary on your bike..
  6. It may be a guy I know who lives over in the Hampton Cover area. He and his wife were riding yesterday. He is not a member of this site even though I spoke ot him about joining up twice. I saw them both yesterday while I was taking COOKIE for his first summer ride Cookie is now back from Irac, so he came over yesterday and I put a luggage rack on his bike for him, then we took off on roads around Huntsville, up over Monte Sano to Hampton cove area and back over the mountains and back to Madison where we parted and he headed home to Birmingham.

Now that's funny... I'm ready to go looking for one of those signs...In fact, my wife and I are about packed up and we are leaving tonight for our new home in stead of tomorrow morning so we just might pass one on our way.. If we do, I will stop and take a photo..... We will be back to get more stuff on another day.
  8. looking good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wish you the best in your rebuild. Hey Freebird, Looks like we have another heck of mechanic for Maintenance day.......
  9. Ben, As already mentioned, what a way to wake us up in the morning with a posting like this.. WOW............. Happy to hear your able to tell us about it, but really sorry for all of you who were hurt. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you on your road to recovery.
  10. Place a small piece of 2x4 under the kick stand where bike is at its most upright position with out falling over. Check oil level sight glass on right side front of engine near front of right floor board. Oil level should not exceed ABOVE the center line markings on the glass. If you have it over filled, oil can and will drip out of a small black hose which is under the rear side of the engine in front of rear tire. You can drain a little oil out, with out going BELOW the required level and it should be fine. You might also notice this if you happen to run your bike hard at higher then normal RPMs. Then again , you could have a loose oil drain plug or a leaking oil filter..but you need to get down under the bike and look and check with a wrench for this.. Lemme know what you find...curiosity got the cat now..

    Rear axel

Your one lucky man.........Since its half way out, i would pull the rear and grease the drive shaft and clean and grease the hub pins then reinstall. Never know why the nut was loose in the first place if he took it apart or what.. Count your blessings then go buy a lottery ticket (you can use my name too) ...
  12. Guess you will be getting into "hot water" tomorrow huh... Hate when that happens.. Its not that big of a job to change out the tank, but some can be a Royal PITA, if you dont have the right tools... Good luck.. To help you out, while I'm out riding, I will think of ya OK...
  13. Paul, I can certainly say your a consistent man.. I sure hope you get over what has been ailing you very soon. I don't know about you, but I think you have been through enough already for one man, so lets get going here. Hopefully, I can one day meet up with Tod and Terry and we can all come back over to your place to see you again after your back on your feet. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

And he sold it all for 20 MILLION DOLLARS.............unreal.. thanks for posting this, my wife will love it.
  15. Very nice Mark. Very nice.. Not sure how the comfort will be for your better half, but tell Sabrina if she doesn't want to ride with you, that I just happen to have a GW she can ride. :sign just kidding:
  16. Wonder if they have any HOT deals ............. Glad no one was hurt.. but I bet there may be some salvageable parts around..
  17. (Quote) where the drive shaft housing and the final drive are bolted together several times. Yep, after re-reading your post, I agree it is the seal. Don't know why, but I was thinking you meant between the axle housing and the rear wheel hub meet up, and there was grease/ oily film on that rubber dust seal that is on the rear hub side. Look underneath the axle housing and you should be able to see a little drain hole about 3 to 4 inches forward from the acorn nuts. See if it has been dripping or oozing grease.. If so, it has to be that seal under the acorn nuts.
  18. Give me a call Mike, and we will get that trunk rack and other accessories installed that we spoke about. We look forward to seeing you and your wife again, and maybe we can all go out and have dinner again too..

    All lit up

Good job and well done..you should be able to see and also be seen better now. At one time, I had 116 LED lights on my RSV and was told Google earth could locate me..
  20. Not sure why your having this "oozing" of grease in area described, but then again, I don't know if you or someone else may have at one time repacked the differential gears and or hub pins with some type of grease either. Do you have any clue as to what type of grease was applied to the gears if you or someone else did clean and repack them?? The grease used just may be breaking down and running / oozing out..and may not be the correct type of grease. Another issue could be that maybe it was OVER packed with grease, and if so you could have the same issue even if it "is" the correct type of grease. You should have no seepage, oozing or leakage of grease "EXCEPT" for when you take it apart and repack the rear hub fingers. After doing so, some grease may (by centrifugal force) may come out of the holes in the rim itself if to much was applied to the hub pins/ fingers but this will happen maybe twice then it quits.
  21. Riding in the Mountains is where its at for me...........!!!!!!!
