  1. I remember that feeling well... It was the first time I cussed in front of my father... He came over and smacked me a-crossed my face as I was squeezing my thumb.. Guess he thought that was just what I needed....but it didn't take the pain away...
  2. Wally World.. $4.95.. works great and it is cheap in price, wont ever rust and it is adjustable. Located in the bicycle parts department...water bottle holder cut down to size. You will need to buy a P-clamp to mount it to your handle bars
  3. The comfort inn....
  4. Hey Gene, Sure hope your feeling better and your stone passes with very little to no more pain. Just thinking of you my friend.. Eck
  5. "S" = SLOWER.......................
  6. The problem I found with the hand vacuum bleeders you are speaking of is the holding container is so small you have to constantly stop and empty it.. I bought a plastic Tupperware container with a snap on lid..then bought three different size vacuum line connectors (to match the sizes of different bike bleeder valves), Then I drilled three small holes in the plastic lid. I then snugly installed the vacuum line connectors into the small holes and then sealed the inside and outside around the line connectors with RTV silicone sealant and let it dry over night. I can now hook up the vacuum bleeder to one of the connectors on the lid, I then hook up a clear vacuum line from the container lid to the bike bleeder (depending on which size diameter), and I PLUG/CAP OFF the third connector that may be a different size then the bike bleeder valve I am working with. When you start pumping your hand held vacuum bleeder, you are creating a vacuum inside the Tupperware container..you loosen the bike bleeder and all you need is someone to keep pouring fresh brake fluid into the master cylinder as you continue to vacuum all the old out. You can do this in a continuing motion with the aid of another person filling the master cylinder and it only takes a few minutes to complete the entire flush out. You don't have to constantly stop and empty the small holding container on the hand vacuum pump..
  7. Looks pretty darn good if you ask me Dennis. Looks just like the bike does. I bet if you didn't say anything no one would have noticed, but NOW you went and done it.. Everyone knows........ Just kidding... It does match very well though. I learned that B2dad is quite handy at polishing and buffing motorcycle parts to get them looking really glossy again...
  8. Mel, Most all Battery Tenders come with TWO cords.. One cord has the alligator clips as you mentioned, and the second cord is the plug in type that you are looking for. You can find a battery tender at Sears, Lowe's and or Home Depot. A New Schumacher 1.5 Amp charger from Wal-Mart is $18.47 and works the same as a battery tender..fully automatic and shuts off when batter is fully charged It comes with the plug in type cord also..
  9. Wish I (we) lived a little closer......
  10. Dragonrider, So sorry I couldn't make it this year, but by time I got up and out of the house I would not have arrived until it was about over, so I just went for a ride..

    Life is Good!

Congrats Jeff. Hope the new job is what you are looking for and it brings you much happiness for years to come.
  12. The 08 has two horns just like all the rest of them..... Virtually, everything is the same from one year model to the next except the color...nothing changes on the Venture.. Eck
  13. Well for one, I am not so sure he let it run long enough or sit long enough to hear it..... but let me ask a question now. How can he shut the fuel off and ride it for a mile or so (very hard as he put it) and it just keeps on running...?? The venture does not run on "gravitational pull" from the fuel line...it must be pumped in from somewhere.. There were many times I would not hear my fuel pump "clickity click" when I had my venture. After it sat overnight, I mostly heard it the next morning...or if it sat for a long period of time like 4 or 5 hours... He can pull the left side cover, and remove the two bolts holding the fuel pump to the bracket, then remove the OUT PUT line and place the outlet line hose into a container, then turn the key on and see if it pumps fuel into the container.. It has to be pumping for his bike to run for a mile or so or a long period of time..
  14. Same way as Freebird does his... Less butter on my fingers....!
  15. With all due respect and I am not trying to be sarcastic here.. (1) If your man is NOT an experienced rider, I strongly suggest you let him ride the bike by himself for at least three weeks to get use to it with out you on it... (2) Make him take a basic riders course...it's for his benefit as well as yours and helps with your insurance costs... (3) ALWAYS make sure your cell phone is fully charged and it is with you when you do ride.. (4) I also suggest you pack a first aid kit...just in case you or someone else needs it. (5) I would also pack one to two bottles of water in case you need to flush a wound.. (6) A good learning bike is anywhere from a 450cc to a 750cc. I would not get anything bigger until experience is well underway.. I wish you and him a very safe ride every day, every time... Hope to ride with you both some day soon. Eck

    Lowers

Pick, Sure glad to hear you guys are OK... Lower replacements will be kind of hard to located since no matter what happens the lowers always seem to take the brunt of everything. Ebay may be your best source.. I'll see if I can help you locate a set. They may not be a matches color set..., but then again, they will match your shoes..
  17. check wire harness that comes out from behind the driving light bar located under your headlight. The wire harness contains colored wires and are to be mated with same color wires located up under the fairing just under your main headlight beam.. you might have pulled them apart when working on the forks and you didnt know it. These wires operate all the ligths your speaking of.
  18. Sorry, but the floor boards are not adjustable on the 2nd gen. You can try to manufacture spacers and or try to create /invent other mods to move them to your liking.
  19. You can install them. If you have other driving lights installed, I would install them on a separate circut with an in-line fuse" and have a separate on/off switch and I would not hook them up with a key controlled circut.
  20. Nice looking ride..looks very clean and well taken care of too.. So your partial to Blue are ya..
  21. GETTING OFF INSURANCE COMPANIES AND BACK TO YOUR BIKE.... WITH ALL YOU SAY IS WRONG WITH IT, THE PRICE OF PARTS MAY NOT ADD UP TO 90% OF ITS WORTH, BUT DONT FORGET THAT THE LABOR INVOLVED NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED AND ADDED TO THE PRICE OF THE PARTS AND THAT WILL PUT YOU OVER THE 90% VALUE OF YOUR BIKE. NO NEED TO WORRY...I AM SURE YOUR BIKE IS TOTALED...
  22. next thing I know I look up and I have smoke coming from the CMU:headache:. there are four wrapped coils on the back and the TOP one on the left (fuel gauge side) has the clear coating melted off. Sounds like you released the factory installed SMOKE in your CMU....not good..once the factory installed SMOKE has been released.....you are actualy in deep poo poo...and the CMU must be replaced. Before I would replace the CMU..I would UN-DO what I did prior to releasing the SMOKE and get some proper help before reinstalling anything...but this is just MY opinon. Here's wishing you lots of Good luck!!!
