According to Rumors and reality........it's false.. I personally do not believe there is, or could be, any company in the world that can pay employee wages, material costs, overhead, electricity, lease a building, etc... for a meer $600 bucks.. Just the glass in the vehicle would cost the manufacturer more then $600 bucks.. http://www.energyboom.com/rumors-and-reality-about-volkswagens-258-mpg-car

Where the HE$$ does the seat nuts go.
Eck replied to Eddie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You could just slip a 2 to 3 inch piece of rubber hose over the seat studs after the seat is in place and continue to ride on.. You could also install a flat washeer first then the rubber hose if you wish.. (I didnt).. Want to remove the seat..just pull down on the rubber hose and turn at same time.. ..wha la.. -
When riding on interstate, I open my windshield vent "ONE to TWO" clicks only, so that the air comes through the windshield then blows straight upward towards the top of, and over, my helmet..not into my face or chest..I also raise the windshield (when on interstae long rides) to where the top edge of the windsield is just above my forehead level where I can not see over it. Again, my opinon...works well for me ...what else can I say... I have the adjustable clear baker wings under both mirrors, and a set of adjustable clear baker wings on boths sides of the bike outside edge of both side pockets which when turned outward seem to effectively deflect the air away from me, but please note that I have never rode a GW 1800 without baker wings to honestly tell the difference.. Mine came with the baker wings and air vent when I bought it. When in city riding or under 60mph riding, I lower the windshield and open the windshield vent full open..pointing it straight at me..and if it is really hot outside, I will turn side baker wings to deflect air towards me. I find if I ride 70mph or more with side wings turned towards me where air hits me, it is causes way to much air buffeting for me.. I have never tried a larger windshield or any other mods for air buffeting because the above explaination of windshled height and air vent adjustments has been enough to always satisfy me. Sorry I cant be of much more help Dennis..Good luck in finding "your" satisfaction.

Just curious, How many Wing Riders do we have on the site?
Eck replied to Midrsv's topic in Honda Goldwing Tech Talk
Make darn sure you want to before you do.. Those Ventures are really good bikes.. Goldwings have thier problems too.. -
Glad wife is OK and that no one else was hit during her out of control episode.... as mentined the vehicle can be replaced...

Lets be truthful .. There are many on this site (like I), that could not fit in that lower compartment, let alone tie the bike in or to get it out.. I like the garage in the back.........

Sounds like you have the SPARK of desire to keep the FIRE BURNING to support this new task.. Here's to wishing you the best as you TRUCK on in your new adventure.

Gary, Looks like that would be a blast... I have flown all over the USA when I traveled for Gulfstream Aerospace. As many here know on the site who have met me, I'm not a real religious man, even though I do strongly believe in the man upstairs, but I do remember on one of my flying excursions I was reading the good book, and I came upon a verse that I have never ever forgotten.. I remember reading where Jesus said: Lo, I am with thee always.. I tend not to take to many chances with flying anymore.....

The one on the right looks very simular to one on Americas most wanted list.. With those sexy legs, he will be well accepted "inside" if caught.........

Bill, Once again you have shown what great things you can do with your hands and once your mind is set on doing something. Excellent my friend............Another job well done:clap2: I like the color tone.......

Joe, I burn really easy... I have to wear a very light white long sleeved shirt so that I dont get burnt. For my nose, I have a cover that attaches to my sun glasses.. Looks wierd...but sure saves my skin...

Something tells me that there is more to this story.. Your old air filters must have had mice in them to plug them up where NO air could get in... Hard for me to believe that a set of air filters changed the running of your bike, or any bike, that much..there has to be something hidden here..somewhere..

Stupid question about speaker install
Eck replied to jryan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The Collar goes through the rubber gromet so that the rubber does not "crush" under load when tightening the screw into the nut. The rubber piece aids the vibration. Someone has had yours apart...They may have already installed larger speakers then again maybe they replaced them with stock speakers. You can use any rubber grommet that the screw fits through as long as it fits over the plastic stem on the back of the speaker hosuing, and you can cut to length a piece of steel or copper tubing for the colar. No biggie if you dont have them in either..the speakers arent going anywhere.. -
Looks like a good deal.. keep in mind they are refurbished..not new ones.

I had quite a few $$ in my Venture when I had it too, but after going through that bad accident I had with it, I have a different outlook on what I really need to invest in on my bike as far as accessories. I'm not going to do all eye candy again. My GW came with several accessories when I bought it, and I have installed a few items since, but it fits me fine the way it is and serves every purpose I need at this time. If things go as planned, I may need a small pulll behind trailer, but then again I may not..

If Yamaha made improvements in it's; Stereo department..(ie get rid of the cassette player) Rear shock durabiity Ignition Switch durability Different shaped stock windshield to improve the air buffetting upgrade the clutch to last longer Improve braking power / capabilities The rest of the bike is fine the way it is with it's 1300cc engine. If Yamaha came out with a 1600 or 1800 RSV... with above mentioned improvements, I myself would sell my GW, and go back to the RSV. I really enjoyed my RSV and feel the Ventures are very nice dependable bikes. Heck to me they are a whole lot better looking then the GW. However, the GW has its problems and needed improvements just as well as the RSV or any other bike on the road. I like my GW too...but I am thinking of down sizing since I ride solo all the time. A lighter bike may be in my future......
