  1. And here I thought you were posting something about me............ When I read the title to this thread, I thought... what is being posted about me now....?
  2. Ruffy, Your in for some bed rest and time off I see.. May as well get some DVD movies ready and make sure the TV in the Bdrm is where you want it, for the brdrm and bath rooms are the two rooms you will see the most for a few days.. Get those batteries repalced in the remote too..ha When my wife had both of her knees totally replaced (at the same time), I got her one of those toilet adapter / extentions that fits over the toilet. It raises the seating height so she did not have to "over extend / bend her knees near as much when reaching or leaving the final sitting position. You can buy them at just about any drug store. I highly reccomend you getting one..it sure made it a whole lot easier for her and a lot less painfull. You can later use it out in the garden........(kidding)... I put ours in the attic in case I ever need my knees replaced,,. I also got her a plastic seat / bench with adjustable legs (for height) where she could sit in the shower and not have to stand or turn in circles in the shower. I didnt want her to twist her knees in the shower.. Then I replaced the shower head with a flexable hose type shower head so she could just move the spray over her by hand. I has an old TV tray table next to her bed for when she wanted to just sit on the edge of the bed and eat, or use her lap top. Just a few thoughts I had and wanted to share in case they may be of help to yo umy friend. I wish you guided well, a fast reovery and nothing but great results. And thanks for getting that WILL updated for me on that bike.. I still havent recieved a copy in the mail, ....but I know.. it;s in the mail....
  3. Heck, I have trouble remembering what I posted or read this morning...(until I find it and read it again).. Sure wish I could remember dates.. but most of all I really wish I could remember names..
  4. Once you get the seat off you can cut two pieces of small rubber hose about 1.5 inches long and just slip them over the threads of the two seat bolts.. The seat isnt going anywhere.. anyway, and this eliminates the frustration of removeing those 10mm nuts everytime you want to take the seat off. You can just pull down on the rubber hosed and wha lah... Another suggestion: You may want to go to an ACE hardware store and see if you can find two 10 mm "wing nuts".. Wont need any tools to remove the seat.............
  5. Yep.. I agree with Ruffy...(.................for once...)
  6. One thing for sure that leaves no doubt..... you really like BLUE......... I must say you did an outstanding job taking care of and customizing your RSV over the years Ed, and I am just happy that I was even able to park my 05 liquid Silver RSV in the same parking lot, let alone be able to ride in some of the same rides with you at Vogel. I would really like to see Cecdoo carry out his end of the deal on his wish for the chrome rims though.. His wife may not agree, but hey...it is what it is...

    Goin bionic

Same with my wife tbbrider, My wife had both knees repalced at same time.. As you stated, very painful, no other way to sugar coat it.. however, the very next day they came and took her to theropy ( I went with her). After her theropy, they asked her to stand up on her own, grab her walker, and walk as far as she feels she can walk heading back to her room. Others in this class got up, walked four or five steps and wanted thier wheel chair..my wife got up, and yes very "slowly" walked with her walker across the room, out the door, down the hall and all the way back to her room. The theropy class members, the next day, all clapped thier hands when she was wheeled into theropy class. Men in the class who only took 4 to 5 steps were very impressed with my wifes ability and determination to walk again. Aabout 2 yrs ago she had it done and from 1 to 10 (10 being excellent) I would say my wife is a strong 7 to full 8 ..once is a while, her knees bother her, but that is after long long walks in a mall or walking far distances in a town on a side walk or walking up / down many stairs. For the most part she is very happy with her knee replacements, both rotoar cuffs rebuilt, both hands / carpul tunnel, and on and on... talk about being bionic.........ha Here is to wishing you well in your decision and recovery if you decide to have it done.
  8. as mentioned earlier, he can alodine the aluminum and then apply paint to all sides of the aluminum and the steel with out door "grill paint" that is made to withstand the heat. If the parts will not be in the heated area of his smoker, then paint alone will work. He can also fay seal between the two parts with a light coating and by covering the entire surface with a silicone sealant then sandwitch both parts together to ensure there is enough squeeze out around all the edges which will seal it from the elements.
  9. 2.65 million was top price paid today..............

  19. Dano, I am so sorry to hear that yuo were in a bike accident my friend. You are in our thougths and prayer as your family is also. Hope your up and on your way to a full recovery soon. (You have to learn to stick with those 2 legged deer...although they can hurt you also...)
  20. Food for thought.. You can stop at any Radio Shack...(take radio with you...) They have an assortment of knobs, many different sizes, and they even have CHROME knobs...
  21. I think it would be useless on fork tubes and or large metal parts such as luggage racks, handlebars, triple trees...carb covers... I did not catch anything mentioned about "Long time durrability" and or ability to with stand heat in the vid..That stuff may not be long lived.. in the outside harshness of the enviornment. As Jat mentioned... if you have a bumper it would be better to send it to a chrome shop.. but for small pieces of (interior) plastic..blah, blah, blah.. Chroming master cycl covers may be the limit..who knows... Be neat though to be able to have a KIT of "A, B, C" cans and be able to do this in your garage for practice on stuff around the house...
  22. 76,000 plus miles on my old Venture and never had an issue with the seals. Not saying one could not go bad..but find it unlikely..on your type of bike.. I would tell them to leave it as is, and get a "second opinion" from someone on the site here or another Yamaha dealer.. If you take it to another dealer, the first dealer MAY place a NOTE in thier computer system under your vin number stating they told you the seal was leaking.. When the second dealer pulls this up the screen and sees the note, they may also just tell you it is leaking...be cautious... just ask them to come out side and look at it and tell you if it is leaking.. this way they dont get the vin number and they dont read the possible note in the system... !!
  23. After you change over to it, post your thought / results so we know how it works out for you. I like it when someone owns up to being the beginning guinny...........
