  3. This might help......
  4. Sorry to hear of your misfourtune, but am certainly glad you are able to tell us about it. I know the pain well...and wish you a most comfortable recovery. Its good to smile, but dont laugh..it takes your breath away having broken ribs..Dont eat beans either..and stay away from pepper on your meals...sneezing will kill ya.
  5. sending best wishes for skilled hands !!!!!!!!
  6. [And aren't you impressed that I typed this using my left hand only? And I'm not left handed! Not bad typing..The more practice you get with that left hand will come in handy come morning .... Is the T-paper located on the right, or left of your toilet.....?
  7. Dang, another road I just have to ride..
  8. When you turn your key on, you should hear the fuel pump clicking (running) and it slows down and comes to a stop after building up pressure. For a test: You can remove the fuel pump outlet line. Hook up another hose and run it to a bucket or can, then turn your key on to see if it pumps and continues to pump..fold the outlet line in half to build pressure..the fuel pump should slow down and quit..release the hose and see if the fuel pump starts back up again..if it does not, and you tap on the fuel pump and it starts pumping again, then I would agree the fuel pump is bad.. They are a known nusence on the Ventures.
  9. Road Kings are good looking bikes. Close to the ground for us short legged folks. The only problem I know of is you have to be very careful when taking one to a VR gathering.. Someone might want those good sounding exhaust pipes........ GW's on the other hand no one wants a thing to do with it........
  10. My 2 cents for what it's worth.. I would not use a heat gun on the gas tank.... Using a heat gun that close to the gas tank cap would not be working in a safe enviornment and "COULD" end up "COSTING" you dearly just to remove that small decal. No matter what project you do please work safely at all times. I strongly reccomend using WD-40 which will remove the decal very easily and it will not disturb the paint finish at all. Spray a small amount of WD-40 onto the decal catching the excess (running) with a soft cotton cloth or rag. Let it set for a minute, Repeat, then using your fingernal pic at the decal and WHA-LAH...the decal comes off easily. Use more WD 40 to remove all the remaining glue. Wash area with soap and water, rince and wax it... You could soak a rag in water and place it over your gas cap, then use the heat gun, but why take such a chance of loss when yuo can easily remove it safely with WD-40
  11. I did the same thing on my GW... It too about blew me out of the seat..

    Sad to admit...

Skid, You just may as well sell that thing. All you need to do now is have about two more childeren, and then you can just sit on the porch and wave at the other bikers as they ride on by.. Who knows, I just migth wave back at you..
  13. Hey Pick, it has been a long time my friend.. Thought you feel off the edge of the world over there. If I was able to help you I would, but I just cant right now. I have never changed the bearings in the neck, but I would be able to provide lots of advise..ha.. I have changed bearings in a Honda...and they are all the same basically. Removing the inner fairing is a PITButt.. I donty think you have to remove the inner fairing all the way off but could be wrong..but you do have to be able to move it for access though.
  14. Allen, Can you post a picture of the scratch? Just me thinking out of the box here, without being able to see the scratch, I do not know if is in a location where you could fill the scratch and then place a decal over it... If this is not in your game plan of ideas, most body shops could touch it up where it is not noticable. You can remove the trunk and drop it off at a local body shop.. Within two to three days they should have it painted for you..
  15. [quote=tommycole;693687 .............think i need whole fairing off? Tom, I sent you an email...with instructions on how to do this without removing the faring... Eck
  16. Here is my 2 cents..for what its worth.. The black one would more then likely be just fine for any and all trups you plant to take in the futre. It has a much lower profile meaning a lot less air drag.. The White one looks much heavier and will have more air drag due to the blunt front of it. The White one will most likely also need a bra across the front to protect it from debris that will cause chips in the paint. The black one already has the cooler mounted on it (no work involved), and it appears the cooler just about covers the whole front of the Black one so a bra may not be needed for it.. Ok,, now its time for you to make your mind up.. If you are anything like my son, you will do the complete opposite of what my opionion is.....
  17. ACE Hardware has them in chrome...
  18. Hey sweet lips, The motion pro carb tuner works the same as the Morgan Carb tune gage..
  19. Hi Bill, I called him a few times, and he is depressed. I was really hoping that once I got his bike fixed for him that he and I would be able to ride one more time together. When I picked his bike up and took it back to him, I sat on his front porch with him for about 4 hours. He showed signs of loss of strength, and not able to walk far without loosing his balance. I knew then that he would most likely never ride again. He showed up at Vogel in his little car. I spoke to him then, and could see sadness in his face that he could not ride but I could tell he sure wanted to. He stayed at our place a few times on his way to wherever he was going. He always had a home in Alabama.. Like many on the site here, I was blessed to know him and was able to ride several times with him. The ambasador ......will always be the ambasador.
  20. I remember Big Bird. Last time I saw him was on my 4 day, 3 night, Natches Trace ride that I had about 5 yrs ago. If you happen to see him, tell him ECK said hi and that I sent him many get well wishes..
  21. (Quote) I agree with the heated jacket. It's warmer and much more comfortable than layering t-shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets. I cant agree more since Dennis gave me his old heated jacket. I still wear it and realize now that I could never ride in the cold again with out one. (Again..many thanks Dennis!) I tried multiple sets of Frogg Toggs and they just didn't hold up for me. I now have a Tourmaster rainsuit. I too tries the Frog Toggs and they didnt work for me either. I now have a Tourmaster rain suit also, but mine is getting small for some reason......duh.. I don't care for leather chaps. Dennis I gave up chaps a long time ago. They are a royal PIT-butt to get on and off, when your a fat boy like me.. Eck
  22. Jryan, That shinny cover is a gas deflector so that gas does not run down onto the left rear spark plug when the bike is sitting on its kickstand. I would indeed leave it installed on the left side.
