I appreciate the link and suggestion @M61A1MECH, but I meant to imply in my posting above that the "fishing string" that "THEY" use to manufacture these beaded seat pads is pretty darn cheap string. The repairs that I have done with a super strong nylon cord have not ever broke. It is ALWAYS that cheap clear fishing string junk they use. It breaks in different places after I make a repair. Heck, I don't want to "re-sew" the entire beaded seat pad. Man that would be a job. After 34 plus years in the aviation arena, I just happen to have some of that Aircraft cord your talking about. It would work well fro repairs also.

Had a great time seeing @DragonRider for lunch today. @bknsaddle, road down with me to meet Lewis. The three of us had lunch and shot the breeze for a while. Sure is nice to see old Lewis again... And I mean "OLD" .................. Enjoyed it guys. Hope you both did and want to do it again in near future. Eck

Anyone else have the problem with the cheap fishing line breaking all the time? I think I'm going to quit using these beaded seat covers. This is the second one I have purchased (plastic beads, not wood) and this particular seat pad I have repaired it 4 or 5 times now using nylon thread. I fix it in one place and another place breaks apart a week or so later.. I had the same problem with my last beaded seat pad which was wooden beads. I sure wish they made them using materials that can withstand some basic usage in place of that cheap fishing line crap they use.

Appears by the readings you posted that the charging system is working, but that does not mean the battery is TAKING the charge. It is best to take the battery out and have it tested under a load, and knock that part of the equation out of the park. If battery test comes back positive, meaning the battery is OK, I would then begin looking at the connectors I mentions in post #4 above. Once the connections are cleaned and you have applied dielectric grease to them and you STILL have the problem, then my next place to look at would be the ignition switch.

This is NO joke.............. I have changed my air filter twice. Even knowing what tools I need and how to do it, it still takes me about 2 hours total time which includes cleaning up and tools put back where they belong. If I had a new tire already mounted on a rim, it would only take me about 15 minutes total time to change out the rear tire.

Prayers requested
Eck replied to Freebird's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
By the words you have spoken, one can tell you are already one the road to healing. When my dad passed 5 years ago, (March 11th, 2011), I went through the same feelings and thoughts. He had a mean streak in him and he beat the heck out of my brother and I. The kids in the neighborhood called him Kong. He was a very verbal abuser to all of us. I grew up deeply hating him. After I grew up I realized no matter how mean he was he was always there. Every single time I needed help he was there. Over the years I closed Pandora's box and tried to forgive him for the many bad things he did in my life and we grew closer. He left this world and I really don't know myself if he ever got saved, or if he only proclaimed Christ in his last breath. He was a good man as far as taking care of our family. We were never rich either, and we did have somewhat of a good family life, as long as my brother, sister, mother and I all agreed with him. You can look at people every day and even after speaking to them, leave wondering if they are truly saved. When it comes down to it, only Christ and that particular loved one know the answer to that question. My prayers have been sent for you and your family my friend. -
@Cowboy, looks like 29 people have looked at the ad so far. Hope it sells for you quickly! Did you get it listed on craigslist yet? Heck, put it on any motorcycle site you can find on Google....

I do not feel it is fuel system related at all being that the dash / instrument panel went blank. You have an electrical issue not a fuel issue.
-
There are 2 plug-in sockets for the wiring underneath a panel, located under the front of the gas tank where the ignition switch is. These connections may be loose. Pull them apart and apply some dielectric grease in sockets and on the pins to prevent moisture from getting in. Remove the bolt going thru the rear of the tank and pull the tank back a few inches to free up the wiring harness, that way the panel connectors are free to work on. Also, check the 15 amp fuse all the way to the left of the fuse block to see if it is blown. (Note: It may be a 10 amp fuse and not a 15 amp fuse)
-
1st - question: How old is your battery? 2nd - question: Have you performed a pull test on the battery to be sure it is good? 3rd - question: Have you checked / cleaned/ tightened the battery connections? 4th - question: Have you checked for a loose / dirty connection on a fuse in main fuse box? It sounds like you have an electrical issue since you mentioned the instrument panel went blank. (ignition switch possibly going bad.) OP's another question: Did you fill up prior to going on your ride? If so maybe you have water in gas, but this would have nothing to do with dash panel going blank..

I didnt deflate my CT when I installed mine. I just used a little hand lotion on the plastic on inside of rear fender and a little on the tire itself where the two surfaces would touch each other. You can also use a wal mart bag over the tire where it will touch the plastic and it slides right in. Yesterday I replaced my rear brake pads and I took the lug nuts off and moved the CT out of my way a little for more access and the darn thing fell out of the rear by itself. Almost landed on my face. When I went to push it back up in, it about killed me.. I strained and strained and could not get it back in. SO I applied the hand lotion and it went up very easy. Amazing it can fall out on it's own, but I cant push it back up in there without lotion..(this aging thing is just killing me).

@Cowboy, I had it posted on the site here, but the buyer was not from this site. I posted it on Craigslist in about 4 different cities and someone from Indiana saw the craigslist ad and emailed me. He and his family were in the FL panhandle and were heading home the next day so they stopped by and after seeing it he bought it. He could not get the trailer into his motorhome, so I offered to deliver it to him in Indianapolis IN., since my wife and I will be heading that way in 3 weeks from now. He is going to meet me at an exit off I-65.

Eck replied to Gary N.'s topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
So sorry my friend... I really thought it was for a Garmin 550.. I know I mounted a modified base to it as seen in fist picture that I posted. Notice the 1/2 inch wide base with slide lock at the bottom. I added this part. Oh well, I tried. Look forward to hearing from you next week. Eck -

Eck replied to Gary N.'s topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Gary, I hope I didn't get your hopes up, but I decided to just go out to the garage right now and dig it out, take a few pics and post them here in hopes it is what you are looking for. I THINK it is for a Garman 550. If not I have no idea what it use to go to...ha Here it is. Front view, bottom view, side view and cord/plug end view. If you want more pics I can go take some more. I would enjoy meeting up with you whether or not this is what you need, and I will still bring it with me just in case you can modify it to use. Send me an email when you guys get into Red Bank, or feel free to call me. My cell # is on my profile page. -

Happy Birthday Don. Hope you have a wonderful day and find the weather to be warm & dry enough to go for a little put...

Patty, Konnie and I are also heading west, leaving the 2nd week of April but we are going in a counter clockwise direction as to where you are talking about a clockwise direction. It would be AWESOME to meet you guys someplace out west as we pass by each other. The states you mention are all on our bucket list, and we plan on seeing them and a few more. We will be in touch more so when April rolls around in hopes we can meet up with you guys. Kick Don in the shin and tell him that's from Eck. Make sure you kick below the "good" knee...... Eck
