  1. So, If everything goes fine the first time. You think it would be okay to leave the seat on the bike? I hate taking it off where I have to park it - carport. Just don't like leaving it open for the world and more importantly, the cats love to sit on it. Don't want any fried cats - atleast not on the bike. Thanks again
  2. I found a battery tender in Wally World the other day. $19, figure it can't be all bad. After reading the instructions (probably my first mistake) I am concerned about hooking this thing up. I have already added the connectors to my terminals and have the connector snaked out to a convenient but hidden spot on my 07 RSV, but am concerned. Do I need to remove the seat and monitor it or can I leave the seat on the bike and just plug in the connector? I was hoping that is all I have to do. Because in south Louisiana it snow one day (?) :rudolf:and 70+ degrees the next. Also, is the battery a 12 Volt or 6 Volt. Did I mention, I know NOTHING - lol Thanks for the advice in advance.
  3. Presently, I have the USA CD and plan on having it in the mail on Monday 12/8/08 Riding wx permitting - lol.
  4. I really like the stirrups too. With them, I get 3 places to comfortably place my feet. The normal resting area on the floorboard. A little forward on the floorboard, with my toes resting on the stirrup. And then fully streched out. But, it does take a bit getting used to the cramped area when the pegs are up.
  5. It was an HONOR and a Privilege to serve you and my country. I would do it again in a heartbeat. While never in a combat situation, I would still do it again because I believe in our system and our country. This past election is proof the system works. Whether you like or dislike the new commander-in-chief elect, he was elected and will be seated. It was great to see people get out to vote. Plus in four years, if people change their minds about him, we can get a new one. That to me is the greatest thing about our country and our system. Again, Thank You!!
  6. That was the first thing I considered when they arived. But there are only 2 different types of bolts. Two long ones for the back side wall where there is a spacer and then 2 matching handle bolts, that I presumed goes to the front side wall. The bottom bolts are all the same size. One set of the bottom bolts works fine, the other the thread is too short and the front side wall is too short as well. May try to find someone that has a tool to extend the thread. Just worried I may end up breaking the plastic handle.
  7. Unfortunately, I checked to make sure I seated it on the gaskets to ensure it wouldn't shake and rattle. I was taking my time on Saturday, because we were taking a ride to Alex, LA to spend the night visiting with a friend fixing to go to Iraq. Everything is seated correctly, just about a 1/8" to 1/4" short on the thread. Just didn't have time to compare the bolts side by side, since we were trying to get on the road.
  8. I am not sure about this set. I just purchased a set and was unable to use half of the bolts, because the thread did not go far enought for it to tighten properly. I am using half the quick release and half of the original Hex bolts on both side bags.
  9. Guy was asking $14,000. Said he had low milage, but couldn't tell. It was very nice. Lots of customizing done. If anyone is interested in possibly purchasing, I did get the phone number and would be willing to give to truly interested parties. Was hoping he was a member here so I could ask him where he got some of his nice add-ons.
  10. Thanks. Biggest problem in one of the hardest hit areas - Baton Rouge - is keeping the electricity going. At one point after Gustav, all of BR was out of power. Now most of it had power. Now we are losing power again today - THANKS, IKE!!!!!!!!!!!! While I have a generator, it is not the same as living in a house with central air, TV, Cold fridge, etc. Oh well, could live in the land of snow - only over my wife's dead body. She refuses to live north of I20. Ah well, atleast I don't have to shovel snow and when the hurricanes aren't blowing us around, can ride the bike more
  11. Cool, thanks. Now I just hope the navigator doesn't read these posts. I will be in trouble again - nothing new there. Just make it up to her by taking her for a ride. Thanks again
  12. I want to thank everyone in advance for all the suggestions and recommendations for mounting GPS eq. My navigator got a new TomTom for her birthday from her sister and she wants to mount it to the RSV. I have purchased a RAM mount for the TomTom. And while I think this is an okay idea, it would give her one less thing to be able to tell me how to do..... My question is, do I need to purchase some sort of tether for the TomTom or is the RAM mount secure enough not to have to worry about? If I do need to purchase a tether, I am open to suggestions on what and where to buy and how to attach it. Thanks again,
  13. Would like to see it as well. Promise to not copy it and forward it free of charge. Thanks
  14. There are lots of great ideas here on things to add/change. But, I am concerned about parts for my current bike. Originally, I had an '83 VR and it was a wonderful bike. I loved it from the time I found it at a HD Dealer. I rode it for years and had to give it up because I couldn't find parts for it (that was before I found out about this group). I finally found a new one and am extremely happy with it and would like it to be the last bike I ever need. My concern about a new Venture would be that they provide parts for the two previous models if they are going to make wholesale changes.
  15. Thanks BigShell, new owner. you know how it is.
  16. So, where do you check the pressure and how do you check it?
  17. My youngest brother is there for his second tour. He has already received the Bronze Star on his first tour. Hasn't spoken about it yet. Waiting patiently to see if he will discuss it.
  18. Have had a pair of old Polk bookshelf speakers for a couple of decades and they are incredible. It is great to know they make marine speakers. I will replace mine with Polk when the time comes.
