Thats might purdy! I wonder if it's tuned differently then the K1600GT/L. Nothing like an inline 6, especially a bimmer. I'm not ready to spend the coin but still

I'm probably heading up that way this coming spring too. I'm in the Black Hills, plenty of "hooved rats" here too. Always be looking on the shoulders and at night in some places cutting the speed limit in half is still taking a chance, best not to ride at night where wildlife is abundant. The other thing that we should be doing all the time anyway goes x2 at night where deer are present, never ride beyond your line of sight. Deer are stupid (and delicious if cooked correctly), if they get spooked they just run in whichever direction they happen to be facing, even if that is right into the side of your scoot as your gliding by.

89 Royale. I haven't spent much quality time with it and I will adjust for date of manufacturer and resist saying EFI, which would be the biggie. It squeaks and rattles like a Chevy over bumps and washed out roads, so quality of the plastics I would say. I think everything else is fairly easily addressed. Really surprisingly difficult to complain considering it's nearly 30 yrs old. When I consider what I paid I really have no right to complain about anything.
-
Yes! Thank you! We love to complain when things get nuts but we do have it pretty darn good. Powerful illustration by the way.

I like to ride a bit bone stock, after a few thousand miles I have a mental inventory of what it will need. It almost always includes a better seat and exhaust/tuning, progressives, ergonomic adjustments. I'll always give a bike a fair shake bone stock. The best bike I have ever had in stock trim was a 2000 Triumph Sprint ST, purchased it new. It got a custom seat and a 2 brothers can/tune. 80k trouble free miles of blissful riding. The Venture will get quite a bit more than that.

I think so since your only running a rear caliper rather than rear, front, proportioning valve and a mile of line. If your delinking, the read size for the plug you need is M10x1.25. I had to buy a longer bolt and dremmel it down to ~0.5" I have a rear reservoir off a Vmax, and another from an older R6, you can have either for shipping but it would not be a direct bolt on, it's the traditional plastic jar. PM me if you want one or pics.

Thats me. Most of my vid gaming is just good ol' single player relaxin'. Maybe like Fallout 4, Mad Max, Far Cry 3 or 4, Doom, things like that. Oh yea, and I probably waste to much time on Path of Exile. It's all good, whatever anyone likes to do. I got 10 years on you haha, I started playing Doom2 in 95. Vid games are the time suck I'm guilty of.
-
Nope, your not alone. It just seems like such a colossal waste of time and so much needless drama, it doesn't add anything to my life. If I'm going to sit in front of the monitor for any length of time, I'm going to play a *****en' video game. My wife uses it because of all her family back in the Philippines and it's the cheapest way to share pics and talk. It's a private profile and only ppl on the list are her family so it's not really used like social networking. If a need or benefit to using it arises I'll jump in, but for now its a time suck with no payoff.

I enjoy your posts, I'm new to like features because I'm not a facebook/twitter/snapchat/anything else user so it's still sporadic.

I got this one now!! Some of you around my age, video gamers, may remember a game called Full Throttle. This looks a little like that bike. It's awesome, love this.

Brake lines
CaseyJ955 replied to Nightwind15's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I just delinked my brakes on the cheap. What I should have done to save time and get better fitting hoses was buy the delink kit offered in the classified section. It was outside of my budget but if I had it to do over again I would buy it anyway. Im not sure what your feelings are about a delink but all new braided lines to fit our bikes and all the other trinkets, pretty nice. Rubber hydraulic hoses can deteriorate from the inside out over time causing obstruction in one or both directions. Odd that they all did it. Maybe the clutch hose should be checked out to. If you want OEM you might try boats.net, I got all the stuff for my forks there cheap and OEM. Not sure if they have hoses or not but worth a try. -
I hope the other pulls through. Times are changing and theres no relief in sight. Im sorry your community is reeling, hopefully this is an isolated incident.

Thank you for your service and sacrafice. I cant imagine how that must have been. I was turned away when I tried to enlist in the Army in 83 because of spinal scoliosis. I never got to serve in the military. I have less right to rant about this election than you do but it hasnt stopped me. Im sick over this, I know were in for a really rough time with a truly deplorable leader. My wife is Ilonggo, legal immigrant, I have everything a man could dare hope for in a wife. It is a long road indeed and lots of hoops for those that respect the USA enough to do it by our rules. She contributes so much to our society, we need her and more like her. I would not be surprised if things get really easy for illegals over the next 4 years. Our illegal immigration issues are bound to worsen. We cant expect a progressive liberal to make the tough calls and do what must be done when it may hurt someone's feelings. This thread exists because its already a problem. The sad truth is there is nobody running for office that would do what you have done for this country, they dont have the fortitude and would never sacrifice what you have. They will however ask other brave young men and women to do it, even require it. Does the new pres love this country as much as we do? As much as it stings, I sure wouldn't bet on it.

What did you use to check for spark? I would check the condition of HT leads and that the coils are getting consistent voltage while running. Im not sure why but it feels odd that multi coils would fail at the same time when it ran properly when parked. Ive never had a TCI fail so I dont know how tbat goes down, maybe someone else can comment on that. To answer your question, COPs (coil on plug) are a common upgrade for ignition system, im doing a set for mine now. A forum search will give you some good reading on this. The other thing I can do is offer you my old coils as I take them off, mine runs and rides ok. You can have them free if you cover shipping but for some reason Im thinking that might be urinating up the wrong waterfall.

Dont sugarcoat haha. Illegals make a mockery of the immigrants that went through legal channels and did it correctly. I cant figure out why illegals arent apprehended and deported immediately. We need to make sure that those we let in will be assets and not liabilities coming over to burden our court system and crap out kids they cant afford so we can pay for that too. We already have all of that we need. When we are selective we end up with folks that work, add to the diversity we enjoy and contribute to our society. Some of the greatest people I have ever met were born elsewhere. When we let everyone through we end up with a whole bunch of what the OP is enduring.

Ethanol tainted fuel is good for two, maybe 3 months tops when left to sit. It draws so much moisture from the atmosphere that if allowed to sit could have left a layer of water and ethanol sludge in your carbs, over a year I would speculate that its almost certain. I have heard of products that are supposed to break up the ethanol sludge and suspend it and the water back into the fuel allowing it to pass through the engine but have not used any such product. Maybe something like that will have the desired effect, rather than an additive not specifically designed to address problems related to ethanal tainted fuel. Im with you on not wanting too pull the carbs and I hope it works. Btw the bobber looks great, just fold up a bath towell to sit on and your good to go:superman:

As an atheist I have no religious standpoint, and without a political standpoint on this I think most might agree from a pragmatic standpoint that we simply lack the resources to have open borders. It serves us well to have legal immigration with the steps and screening that we do. I would be saddened if there were no immigration. I think 1989 was the last time I dated a woman who was not an immigrant so im onboard with it, no hate here, only pragmatism. Unfortunately there is no way to legislate good behavior or respect, being a crappy neighbor transcends race, gender, and maybe even culture. I do believe the OP is being wronged, but without the landlord willing to insist on a modicum of respect and consideration from his new tenants there is nothing left to do legally but move . Its pretty far from fair but maybe the way it is. I absolutely understand his anger. Im going to go out on a limb here and guess that the Mexican part is no issue at all, just the crappy neighbor part.

The original symptoms of running only with choke and it wont take any throttle have been cured on my v4 with the "shotgun" cleaning method. I have never had success with the "peashooter" method. What I didnt see is if when it was allowed to sit over time, did it have ethanol tainted fuel in it? Given enough time that stuff gets so nasty that the only way to clean it out properly may be to open up the carbs. My experience with these carbs is that they are very sensitive to anything other than fuel.

Are you getting tired of TV commercials that Stretch The Truth?

My apologies, I misunderstood as well. I would say "come to the beautiful US where vehicle insurance is actually affordable", but soon enough that could be a lateral move. Im sure its only a matter of time before our gov sticks their fingers in auto insurance and scramble that just as with health insurance. I have basic lia on an 87 samurai, 03 acura, 96 lexus and 99 vmax and pay $775 annually usd for wife and I on all vehicles. I thought that was a tad lofty but dayum. I should savor that before we have Clinton Affordable Motor ins Act. So what happens there if someone is on disability or just out of work? You dont drive or ride? Thats not chump change there. -

I have long adjusted in until idle drop or stumble than back out a turn or so after steady idle returns, then road test adjust. I have never seen a colortune before, which is embarassing considering how much time I have spent with cars and bikes. I just watched a bunch of youtube vids on it and im jazzed, it looks like an ingenious device, I must have one! How cool to be able to get AF dialed in but get the jets and needles close w/o all the road testing, which has been effective for me but monotonous and time consuming. I feel like a 4 yr old that just discovered Legos. For those of you that mentioned and use it, has it been useful on the CV carbs for jets and needles as well as AF? -
Stars-n-stripes under anything else on our soil is disrespectful in my opinion. Its too bad but Im glad its not illegal. It sort of lets us know whos grateful to be here and who has other feelings. I love Mexicans, love the food and culture, and of course the ladies. Having lived near Mexicans before I have noticed that some of the cultural differences include loud music at 2200 or later, multi generations in one home and as with many other cultures, privacy and tranquility seem less important. I have noticed Caucasians generally stand/walk further apart and speak more quietly and than many other cultures. I enjoy diversity but if I lived under the conditions you describe I would not enjoy it one bit. Cant change it, I would bolt, in fact I would twist an arm to waive the remaining lease. The only way to avoid this in the future is to reside on private land with some seclusion, which is exacly what I have done. Now I can appreciate others and go home when I've had my fill. Even living next door to my fellow American has been lukewarm at best. I'm happiest with no neighbors of any flavor. YMMV, sorry your going through it, I know it sucks.

If your in the USA you have nothing to worry about. As luck would have it, one of our candidates is actually going to expand the Affordable Care Act, ya know, because it has been such a success so far. Now everyone has "affordable healthcare". I knew when this was unveiled there was no possible way it could go wrong. Oh, by the way, those of you that are victims of this horrendous dumpster fire and are facing the fine for going without insurance, google and research the exemptions, there are many. Also their collection of the totally fair and reasonable fine for not buying their product is fairly hollow. When is General Motors going to be able to fine me for not buying their crappy products, is that next? They can remove it from your refund but if your accountant is going his job your not getting a refund anyway, your withholding is adjusted so that you will write a small check at the end of tax season. Dont pay that fine without exhausting every possible option first and having that conversation with your lawyer or a REAL accountant. Skip the place in the mall or H&R Block types of places and latch onto a true professional. I hope the connotation of heavy sarcasm was apparent in my text. But I was serious about the avenues for dodging that stupid unjust unfair absurd fine. I remember the stateside advertisements boasting this, haven't seen so much now that seemingly most of the USA is fuming over this tragic mess. -

Thats a good way to do it. Although I just found out about a colortune plug, Im going to play with one of those for sure. I usually start at 2 or 2.5 then take my lil' screwdriver and head up to Mt Rushmore. By the time I come down the other side and get back to Rimrock I've stopped several times and inched them in by 1/8 turn increments until I get some lean hang or que... er popping through the carbs then I go 1/4 turn back from there. I know when she snaps back to idle with no hang, chuffing or wavering and the idle/off idle performance is crisp and true without flat spots up to when the needles take over, they are golden. I adjust the front bank and rear bank individually and ususally end up aprox .5 turn further out on the rear bank to get it just right. Thats my back yard-trailer dwelling-mom and dad are first cousins-old school- seat of the pants adjustment method, but it seems effective with some patience. -

One turn is a full 360 degrees. I look at notches in my screwdriver handle and when it goes around and comes back to the same position thats one full turn. Good to be precise as even 1/8 turn can make a difference. I count the turns in until it is GENTLY seated and write it down so I can always undo it. If you have an AF screw seated than that would be an issue fur sur. I once hydrolocked a CR500 and when I pulled the head it was full of popcorn, so I feel your pain!
