  1. Most people feels that Speeding is not a crime, but the fact is Speeding kills more people everyday than anything else. Sure, there may be other factors involved, but Speeding adds to the problem. Most "Speed Traps" that I've heard people talk about are well marked and posted before hand. One here locally (that is in the top 10 in the US) that everyone complaints about has Oversized Speed Limit Signs on both sides of the road as you enter into the city limits, but people just refuse to drive the limit. And "Speed Limit" doesn't mean 10 over...... and yes, I'm guilty sometimes myself because I love to play.
  2. Does anyone have an extra front plate and damper that hold the windshield at the bottom? (part number 58 & 59) I stopped by the dealer yesterday and Yamaha doesn't show the front plate any longer as being listed. I need one....
  3. I'm not sure Gene, but I think he wants a nice firm seat. He riding now on a pointed metal brace.....
  4. A friend of mine has a 86 Goldwing 1200 Interstate and his seat padding is gone. The seat looks good on the outside, but the inside padding is shot. He is setting on the metal seat pan which is very uncomfortable. He has looked on eBay, but had no luck. Does anyone has any suggestions on a good fix that doesn't break the bank?
  5. Sorry Charlie, but that really bites!
  6. Any of the area in the southwest part of West Virginia is nice. I've made the ride from Marlington north and circled back through Elkins several times. I have been scoping out some future rides, and actually Scenic Rocks and Black Waterfalls areas is at the top of my list next summer when I set off the first "West Virginia Skid-In". I also found another shorter ride I may use for a nice day ride. It would match the Tail of the Dragon Ride easily, but without all the law enforcement. I plan to ride one or two these road this fall before making my final pick. My wife now is even looking forward to the event next summer. So far everything is a GO! Hope you get to make it. :GREEN:
  7. You're in beautiful country John. About anywhere in Pendleton County you'll find good twisties. I always perfer the Highland Scenic Highway near Marlington and any of US Route 60 near Hawks Nest is good too. If you make it up near Braxton County, Look us up! I hope to be out riding this weekend, it about time the leaves will be starting to change.
  8. In Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge this summer I paid over $6.00 for a gallon of milk. I went to get a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread and costed me over $9.00.
  9. Oh its going to make a difference, just be careful the first time you take her out....
  10. Glad you're ok hippy, I suppose they are always other First Gens.....
  11. I had a wild sound out of my 86 VR earlier in the year. I found the front of the drive shaft dry as a bone... problem solved!
  12. Kool Beans, glad to hear you're on the road. I guess folks on the big island just don't take long trips....
  13. Mine quite last year after riding through the rain at Vogel. I sprayed some cleaner into the switch and fixed my problem. Just another thing to deal with about riding a twenty year old scoot.....
  14. 13th to 17th of August 2008
  15. Same dates Wednesday through Sunday sounds good. If anyone wants to come early that is good too. I would like to make a week of it...... I am looking into a West Virginia meet in the future. Maybe early June?
  16. Hey I like that idea of hunting the harley. Count me and Leslie in!!!!
  17. I mostly always get above 45 mpg unless I'm runnning in excess of 70 mph. Whether I'm running through the hills of West Virginia or on two lane country roads it doesn't matter.....
  18. I get between 47 or 48 most of the time unless I'm 75 mph+ then it drops to about 42 mpg....
  19. That is one group that I don't want to be a member of....
  20. There is several hams here locally that operates on two wheels. Most of us just uses a HT. I can set my HT in the cup holder and use a ear mic when traveling together. One member has installed a Icom 706 on his GoldWing. He mounted the faceplate on the dash and uses the hand mic... 73's, N8YOW
  21. Hey Red, Glad it was so simple. This site has all the information you will ever need to operate and ride a Venture!
  22. Mine didn't work when I first got my scoot, I discovered that mine was just the fuse. For some reason I thinking it wasn't one in the fuse box that it was an in-line fuse, but I may be wrong...
  23. I couldn't believe the difference either, for just a little money and a couple hours...WOW What a Difference!
  24. The difference is as much as night and day, also changing to Progressive Springs is very easy and takes little time.
