I mostly carry my S&W Shield 9 mm but occasionally I carry my old AMT .380 backup for personal protection. By personal protection I mean within 10-15 yards when I’m by myself. A .380 can make a great pistols but don’t rely on them at any distance.

But there is a big difference between a trained law enforcement and your average open carry individual with no powers of arrest. The officer is much more threatening to a suspect. The officer also has a holster designed to be secure from someone else removing the firearm. Unlike most holsters on the market. It depends on how the person is carrying and his level of professionalism. Some people I’ve saw has no business with a gun at all with a holster that a gun cult fall out of

The 6906 is a double stack 9mm. I carried everything from a Smith 686 357 in 1990 to a S&W 40 & 45 before retiring. They actually provided us our weapons so everyone carried the same. I was able to purchase each one at the end. I have all five plus I got a purchase the pistol they went to this year for the 100 anniversary. The state police started carrying a Glock 17 this year.
