  1. Indeed we do. I will have a couple of my favorites on hand the next time we meet.
  2. Was on the highway yesterday. Speed limit was 70, 4 lane highway, and traffic was flowing smoothly. There was a guy towing a boat in the right lane and people were passing him as he was going slightly slower. The car in front of me moved over to the left lane and as is my habit I let off the throttle a little to open some room between me and the boat. (I don't like traveling directly behind something I can't see all the way into.) At this point there is about 7 car lengths between me and the boat. I hit my blinker and turn my head to check my blind spot getting ready to move over. I look forward in time to see what looked like the metal rimmed backing of one of the captains chairs flying directly at me. I have no idea how it missed me but I would swear it missed my right mirror by less than 3 inches. Haven't been that scared in a long time...
  3. My 83 does that. Its fairly normal. Mine runs about 3/4 of the way up then hits almost red line when in the city or stop and go traffic.
  4. What was that huge block of cheese that was there the other night? Muenster? That was some good stuff.
  5. Had an amazing time with everyone that made it. It was awesome how you all took in this newbie and made me feel like family. I can't thank all of you enough for your help with working that electrical gremlin out and all of the other info/fine tuning on Lucy. She rides and behaves like a new bike now. A special thanks to our hosts for opening their home to us. A truly beautiful slice of heaven. And some pics of the masters at work. A few from the local area including the remastered Lucy. And some of the other locals. I look forward to seeing you all again!
  6. I've been wondering about my fuel use on my 83 XVZ12 so I tested it out today. I filled up and went on an 84 mile trip that ended up at the same station I started at. Most of the time traveling at 45 or 55 mph. I used 1.6 gallons of gas. That comes out to 52.5 miles per gallon. Not that I'm complaining but that seams high. Just wondering what other people are getting.
  7. If it was in the center of the tread or slightly offset the T patch, when properly installed, will hold for the life of the tire. I use them all the time at the service station as well as on semi tires and have never had one fail.
  8. I have the Dunlop E-3 on the rear and the Michelin in the front. Any time I ran a Dunlop in the front, it would cup really bad.
  9. Last video game I played was on the original Nintendo back in the 90's. My boy is into all of the gaming stuff. I get an upset stomach watching all that VR. We all have our own thing. Mine is fishing.
  10. Daddy's little biker! Way too cute for words!!!
  11. I'm going to be too fat to throw a leg over by the time my mom in law leaves... Not that I'm complaining
  12. And home made Gorditas tonight!!! :fatsmiley: I think maybe a dozen or so should do it
  13. There is more to eat in this world than moose, Canadian geese and molson beer...
  14. When I was stationed down south my favorites were grits with a little maple syrup. Biscuits and gravy. Grilled asparagus. Collard greens dripping in butter. Grilled blackened chicken. Gumbo. So much good food and only one mouth to eat it all with...
  15. This version is tripe and hominy. We add the chicken for the kids. I can't get them to tell me the spice/pepper/chilly blend they use. I can tell you that it is not too spicy in the pot (kids don't like the burn) but we have a sauce we adults add to turn it up a bit.
  16. We are about 2 hours north of Milwaukee on hwy41. You and your wife are welcome any time
  17. Good eye boss. It is in fact Menudo. The biggest problem most people have with it is the meat. You have to simmer it for 10 hours and it kind of turns out a little mushy. To solve this we simmer the meat, strain it out, add shredded chicken to the broth and fry the meat to make it crispy again. Add the fried meat back in with the corn and seasonings. Simmer for another hour = heaven in a pot!!! :fatsmiley::fatsmiley:
  18. For those of you who know what this is, it's mine and you cant have any. For those of you who don't, it's still mine and I'm not sharing. I love having my mother-in-law here!!!! :fatsmiley:
  19. I have the duel magnet set up. One for iron and one for copper/brass. Most were between 1/16" and 1/8". All were not very wide and looked like shavings. There wasn't a lot, just enough to catch my eye and get me worried.
  20. My kids are lucky. My wife throws everything away. I had to section off an area in the basement with police tape and designate it as my no wife zone. She is so bad that I've had to buy the same thing 4 or 5 times to replace what she tossed.
  21. Sounds like indeed to worry then. There was the standard dust but big stuff also...
  22. A-team quote! I used to watch that show with my father. Thanks for the memory bump boss.
  23. Changed my oil yesterday and noticed more than expected metal shavings on the magnet. I know I'm starting to have the first gen 2nd gear problem. Would that cause the shavings or should I start looking for bigger problems?
  24. I found a 85 Virago 1000 for cheep. Runs but needs some basic maintenance. Speedo inop and minor cosmetic issues. I have no experience with these. Thoughts? Should I anger the wife and bring it home?
  25. For me it's all about the freedom of it. Just point the wheel and go. Doesn't really matter where. I used to love going out on one of the sponsons at night when things were quieter and just feel the ocean breeze and sea spray. Sit and think about nothing. Peace and freedom. I think I took up riding because it reminds me of those moments.
