Put in the Amsoil!!!! I found several products in the Amsoil catalog that will work in a wet clutch application. 10W-40 Advanced Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCF) 20W-50 Advanced Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCV) Formula 4-Stroke® 10W-30/SAE 30 Small Engine Oil (ASE) Formula 4-Stroke® PowerSports 0W-40 (AFF) Formula 4-Stroke® 10W-40 Synthetic Scooter Oil (ASO) I put the ASE oil in my bike. I dont have the dreaded "clutch churp" so I went with a thinner oil. I also used the EAOM102 filter.

Spark Plug Question
KiteSquid replied to TrainMaster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Some bikes are wired so one plug fires 2 cylinders so the plugs wear twice as fast HOWEVER on the RSV there are 4 coils for 4 cylinders, but I dont know if the low voltage side of the ignition circuit fires each coil independently of each other or not, and I dont have an Oscilloscope to test it. Electricity likes to jump from a point to a point, if you look at a new spark plug, the center and ground electrodes have sharp corners. Over time some metal is lost and these become rounded, delaying or in the worst case stopping the spark from jumping the gap and igniting the fuel/air mixture. There are LOTS of spark plug diagnosis charts out there on the Internet. Be sure to look at the ground electrode shape as well as the shape of the center conductor. When you buy Platinum or Iridium plugs you should be buying longer plug life as they are less likely to round off.......... but I kinda like "turning wrenches" for preventative maintenance. It is a relaxing activity for me and gives me more pride of ownership. It also reminds me of the times I assisted my father in maintaining our cars when I was young.- 18 replies

Just a word of caution. If you accidentally burn the installation on Teflon wire, it puts off Perfluoroisobutylene gas, which is a asphyxiating agent, but if your clothing is on fire, the Perfluoroisobutylene gas will be the least of your worries. I don't recommend using Teflon insulated wire in MOST applications, however for the heating element in clothing, it should be OK.....

but is his "specal heated clothing wire" silicone insulated? BTW this looks like his non-ebay web site, or at least where he gets his stuff at: http://www.harrisonspecialties.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=HC Here is a site that tells you how to make your own heated clothing: http://www.ibmwr.org/otech/heatedclothing.html and some more here: http://www.shadowriders.org/faq/electricvests.html

Check where the horn is getting it's power from and where the ground is. I put my power and ground at the end of the battery cable where it attaches to the bike. You might also think about putting a filter in it's power line. Remember that the battery also acts as a filter capicator....sorta.... so the closer you make the connection, the less likley you will have problems. You might also want to pull the horn appart and check the brushes and armature of the motor in there as you may also be getting carbon arcing...

Also, have you thought about mounting and balancing the tires yourself???? -
Are ALL turn signal bulbs installed correctly? front and rear???? Left and Right???? that makes 4 bulbs to check!!!!! but I would check the front bulbs first!!!!!! LOOK CLOSLEY at the bubls in the turnsignals and you will see the little indexing pins. One is closer to the base than the other. Look at the socket, and make SURE they were installed correctly!!!! Then Re-test!!!!!

Maybe all the motorcyclists within 100 miles should ride the streets looking for parking at public garages between the hours of 7:00 and 9:00 AM for a week or two. having the attendant explain to each individual mororcyclist the issues. Then, they should get a metered space, one bike per space for the rest of the day......

IF you are using heat shrink, get the adhesive-lined tubing.... it seals out the weather even better. HERE is a link to 3M's website with the adhesive-lined tubing. it is available at all quality electronics parts houses. Like muffinman stated, you can get crimp connectors with an adhesive-lined heat shrink sleeve... HOWEVER I would prefer to splice in at the factory connectors. Yamaha does a POOR job at listing the part numbers for the connectors in the parts manual... it does not exist. I would prefer to get the male and female connectors and make a short extension between them in the same color code wire and crimp in a tap wire where I want it.... using all factory parts..... but as I stated above, it is next to impossible, as Yamaha does not list the parts in the parts manual. Does anybody know how to find the part numbers, or probably better yet, the original manufacturer of the connectors in our bike's wiring harnesses?????? This would not be the least expensive route, but it would be the easiest to remove from the bike, when you go to sell it.......

I'll fourth that!!!!! 210+ HP in a Venture would be SWEET!!!! Fuel injection and variable valve timing that the Otodama engine has would be WONDERFUL in my next Venture!!! Add traction control and punch the HP up to the original HP of 295 HP!!! IF you take the current weight of the Venture of 807 LBS and divide it by 210 HP you get 3.8428571428571428571428571428571 LBS per HP!!!!!!!! OR, IF you take the current weight of the Venture of 807 LBS and divide it by 295 you get 2.7355932203389830508474576271186 LBS per HP!!!!!!!! HANG ON!!!!! 1800 CC = about 110 CID, or the same size engine on the Screamn' Eagle Ultra Classic, but with more HP and probably a little less than the $$$$$ H-D sells it for.....

Direct replacement for cassette?
KiteSquid replied to royalstarjac's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Nope. If you open your fairing and look at the connectors and how the entire sound system is installed, you will see a proprietary system made by Clarion (Why Yamaha Motor Company did not get a sound system from Yamaha Electronics is beyond me....) HOWEVER, you could cut the inner fairing and install a standard car stereo in place of the Cassette deck, and jack it into the factory stereo using the Aux input. OR you could hook the aftermarket stereo to the speakers, and disconnect the factory unit from them. But you should do LOTS of measuring of the space as I dont know what would fit. You may loose your CB and Intercom, which may not be an issue, however please think about resale value, the next guy may insist on having them.... IF you go this route, PLEASE write a tech article on it, as I could not find one here or over at the other Venture web site. Personally, I will just go the easy, and probally less expensive route and Velcro a MP3 player to the clutch reservoir and jack it to the split AUX input..... -
I am purchasing it.

The Stems are what we use to make Pie!!!!!!! this is what Rhubarb looks like after being trimmed and before slicing it for making it into PIE!!!! http://www.all-creatures.org/recipes/images/i-rhubarb.jpg

YUMMMMM!!!!!!!!! MrsSquid's favorite flavor for Ice Cream is Grape Nuts. Mine is Blackberry, and NOT the electronic device accidentally dropped into the machine either.....
