I had a bikes needle valve stick during storage and the entire five gallons of gas in the tank ended up on the floor. it evaporated. Now I had a storage facility filled with an explosive mixture of air and fuel. I spread oil dry on the spill and opened all the windows and doors and it took about four days for the building to become safe. Now if I had any appliance with a pilot light in there my family and I would probably be dead and you would not be reading this....... If installed on your vehicles, PLEASE close the petcock during storage. This is for your safety!!!!!!!!

Turn the petcock valve to OFF. If you don't and one of the needle valves gums up and sticks, all of the gasoline in the tank will end up on the floor which is NOT good..... If you put Stabil in the tank you wasted your money on the Seafoam, IMHO. Whenever you run the bike make sure that you get the exhaust pipes hot enough, long enough to boil out all the water..... you might want to make it a 20 minute ride. BTW I am still riding. it was 19 F here at SquidAcres when I left for work.

I use a Purolator PureOne filter. Either the PL14612 or PL14610 will screw onto the bike. the PL14612 is the same height as the stock filter and I like it better than the PL14610 which is about 3/4" taller. the taller filter was a bit of a challenge for me to put on the RSV so I don't like it.... NEITHER are a replacement filter according to Purolator... BTW all of my other vehicles take the taller filter.. all are Honda. Odyssey, accord and Goldwing.

IIRC the owners manual from the 2007 RSV that I totaled on page 9-1 it states But you should NOT trust my memory and read your owners manual. If you don't have your manual you can register at starmotorcyle.com and download an electronic version for free..... Thant means you can use API SG, SH, SI......... or any oil that says JASO MA on the label, but do NOT buy anything that has a API "doughnut" with the words "Energy Conserving" as it will have Molybdenum Disulphide in it which is GREAT for your engine and transmission but it will ruin your clutch in short order as it will leach the copper out of the plates, and make what is left of the friction material very slick, which is not what you want in a clutch. here is an example I found on the Internet of what NOT to buy. http://www.p2pays.org/rrfoil/images/apidonut.gif IF you are looking for a recommendation, I use Shell Rotella T6 as it is a full synthetic, JASO MA certified, available just about anywhere, and costs less per gallon than just about any other full synthetic. I get it at Advance Auto Parts or Walmart for about $20 per gallon..... Don't forget to use a high quality oil filter!!!!!!!!!!!

21 F on the commute this morning and my hands were comfortable. I was running my jacket liner, seat heater, grip heater and Gerbing T5 gloves on high and driving at about 60 MPH. But my feet and legs got a little cold..... I might look into a set of pants liners and maybe socks or insoles. Is it just me or are motorcycle accessories expensive and addictive..... kinda like drugs.

one of my coworkers tried to implant a RFID into his left hand.... he made the incision but did not cut himself deep enough to implant the RFID chip. On the same evening his friend implanted one in his own hand. He uses it to unlock the doors at his home and his workshop. Personally I thought both of them are nuts for trying it..... BTW there are several wallets on the market that are touted as being RFID blocking... if you want to take the easy way out. When was the last time you read Nineteen Eighty-Four? Dont forget: BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU

I bought a Harbor Freight motorcycle tire balancer. it works GREAT. I use it to check the balance that the guy at the tire shop put on, and it has always been spot on.

I am hoping to get three more years out of my original knees.... but if I had to take that much naproxen I would be making an appointment with a good orthopedic surgeon who specializes in knees. My knees should work, but my liver has to work.....

WOW am i getting a good deal!!!!! If I had to pay $40 to get a tire mounted I would be seriously looking at a home M/C tire changer.
-
Those home tire changers are nice, but there is a small tire store near me that will mount a motorcycle tire for $8 if I bring the tire and wheel to him.... you might check around before buying a home unit.

I have a 2010 Goldwing that came with heated grips. I have purchased a pair of Gerbing T5 gloves I like both. the grips work great on cool rides to keep my hands warmer. on cold days the gloves do a great job of heating the backs of my hands as for me the grips are not enough on cold days.... 40 F and below. on very cold days I run both the gloves and grips..... I rode in 28 F for the first time on a motorcycle and my hands were warm the entire trip thanks to both the heated gloves and grips. Money well spent. So I guess you have to figure out what the lowest temperature is that you are willing to ride in and your tolerance for cold... I would like to be prepared to ride all year long except for days that there may be ice on the roads. also make sure you do NOT put too much of an electrical load on your bike. remember to be air tight and insulated, then start to electrically generate heat.

Pureolator fiters are carreid at the stores lised HERE. They may or may not carry the PureOne filters, but you can try.... If you are talking the Yamaha filter from the Yamaha dealership, than I would say about the same or maybe a little less for the PureOne filter. Bosch, Amsoil and Mobil 1 also market high efficiency oil filters, but around here they normally cost more than the PurOne filters...

The title says it all........ this was on my way into work yesterday..... burrrrrrrrrrr. Gotta love a heated jacket liner and gloves from Gerbing. Now to figure out how to keep my eyeglasses from fogging up as I only have a 1/2 helmet.

so, what are your plans for it????? Lowrider? Pro Street? Bracket racer?

the swamp 3 wheeler looks like a ton of fun, and you would get covered in mud in a big hurry. Flats might be a problem as it looks like semi tire inner tubes........

Any oil that meets the text in the owners manual... That said I would recommend Rotella T6 full synthetic 5W-40. It is JASO MA certified.... It is one thing to put in good oil, it is yet another thing to keep it clean, remember it is the entire system of components... so I would recommend a good oil filter like a Pureolater PureOne...... which is 99.9% efficient (Based on ISO 4548-12 at 20 microns on PL30001) There are other filters that are comparable for keeping your oil clean but in my experience the PrueOne filters are usually the lowest cost of the high end filters. Your mileage may vary. Caveat emptor.

It works for me. I travel for work and I have an account with MrsSquid on it.... Well the credit card company calls me when they see charges from the same day in two different geographical areas...... It is a PITA to answer the call and go through the security checks, but it is worth it to keep some lowlife from stealing....

Thanks for the correction. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/82/Honda_PC_800.jpg/800px-Honda_PC_800.jpg http://order.tupperware.com:8080/coe-images/home/logo.gif

not yet as I only have 1200 miles on it, but I am looking into highway pegs, a kit to raise the handlebars and a kit to move the drivers pegs down and forward, but I don't have any disposable dollars till after January........ You got to ride a GL1800 for several hours to understand the bike. I got a dealership to let me take a four hour test ride on a new bike........... and I was sold........ I do think the GL1800 was designed by a group from Tupperware.....
-
I am 6'6" tall with a 36" inseam and I love my GL1800.
