KiteSquid replied to Duke13's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
All three of the Wall-Marts in driving distance from SquidAcres have a spot on the shelves for the gallon bottles of ROTELLA T Syn, but the shelf is empty every time I have gone in......... I guess I should go find a truck stop. Oil change time is coming up soon. -

07 RSV midnight Warranty , mechanical Warranty only?
KiteSquid replied to Brian D.'s topic in Watering Hole
Get the dealer to send you a bill, and send a copy to Yamaha. It sounds like the dealer is trying to get paid twice by an out of town customer. -
Yes. It also is the fictitious theme park in National Lampoon's movie: Summer Vacation.

Headsets for RSV and H-D Ultra Clasic
KiteSquid replied to KiteSquid's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I found the pin-outs...... The RSV pin-out from the top page of the Dlphifourms: http://members.cox.net/toma2/images/Audio.gif This is the H-D pin-out from the web: The shells for the 5 and 7 pin DIN are the same and the first 5 pins are in the same locations, SO the differences are the added pins 6 and 7 which are Shield and Handheld PTT. I don't need a handheld PTT, and the Shield might be needed in a high Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) environment, but we can probably dispenser with it, even though the coiled headset cord would be more susceptible to EMI than a straight cord. Could somebody please plug a 5 pin DIN corded headset into their H-D to test it? I don't have a headset, or a H-D with a CB handy... -
I got a new bike too!!!!! I had Avons mounted and balanced however I purchased stock size tires for better all around handling. I lubed the splines on the drive shaft and the hub splines while I had the wheels off. WOOO HOOOOO she rides like a brand new bike again!!!!!!!!! I also noted that the rear brake pads were wearing unevenly, so I reversed them. ALL the tips I got from this forum!!!!!! NICE SITE and LOTS of people freely willing to help!!!!!!!

On the 7 pin HD, are all pins used?????? I guess I need to find the H-D pinout.... -
Do any of you have a 1999 or newer H-D Ultra Classic that you use a headset on? I was wondering if they pin out is the same for it and the 2nd Gen RSV??????? Also, I cant seem to find a pinout diagram for the 2nd gen RSV headset, but I can find one for the 1st gen in the tech library. I need one for the 2nd gen.

By smaller I assume you mean narrower front tire. it makes the curve of the contact patch a smaller diameter, so with the same lean angle you should get a tighter radius turn...... but at the cost of some freeway speed handling. I will NOT give up my at speed handling for an improvement at parking lot speed, so I bought a copy of Ride Like a Pro on DVD and am leaning HOW to ride!!!!

Rear Brake Help...
KiteSquid replied to bugfish69's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
make sure you are pressing it in straight into its bore!!!!!! If you have it cocked a little, it will NOT go in!!!!! It should take only a little pressure to push it in... -
its a good start!!!!!! Now black out everything!!!!!! I like it!!!

MrsSquid and I had a great time. This was our FIRST M&E!!!!! and the first one I coordinated!!!! The BBQ was GREAT and inexpensive!!!!!!! MMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm Willies BBQ. gotta go again soon. We got done eating early so we took a side trip to Vernon Street Customs. It is a aftermarket bike shop here in King George, with no parts on the shelves. They mostly do custom painting on helmets, bikes and cars.... Then off to Carl's Ice Cream in FredVegas via Rt 218. it is a windey road and I am glad I had my compact nautilus horn as some cager was in my lane....... woke him up!!!!!!! Once everybody got their Ice Cream, :fnd_(16):we stood around under the trees an talked for quite a while. I liked seeing what custom stuff others have done to their bikes. Great ideas and it is better to see the bike in person as I can ask LOTS of questions!!!!!!!!! I am a glutton for technical info!!!! the conversations drifted around and once I stared to talk about kites, everybody else whet stands up and headed off down the road.... MrsSquid and I rode around town for a while, and shopped some then went back home Via Rt 218. We did not see a single drop of rain the whole day, but it was mostly cloudy and some dark ones rolled overhead. It was a nice day and I look forward to the next one I am able to attend. Thanks everybody who showed up and we missed those who were unable to attend.
