Actually people are installing Harley Davidson mufflers, the pipes don't work as the Yamaha RSV has twice as many cylinders as the Harley Davidsons do.......... Harley might catch up...... someday........ As for sewing macine sound, I am a kite builder by hobby and I have a sewing machine that will make 5 stitches thur a quarter. LOTS of power but it does sound like a motorcyle when I am sewing on it

Front Turn Signal
KiteSquid replied to philmartin's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Did you check it with a volt meter? It is rare in todays market but you can get a new bad bulb Did you try swapping the bulbs from left to right? Also did you purchase 2357A bulbs or 1157A bulbs? -
on a quick look of the two bikes I prefer the big block chevy bike over the OCC bike. But I do like the way OCC painted/powdercoated all parts in cat colors over the left over chrome on the big block bike....

I guess my signature is no longer showing up.... I am probally willing to trade my 1950 Harley FL for a 2009 Ultra Classic (however I would prefer the SVO bike with the 110 CID engine)... straight trade, no cash is required on your part to get an antique motorcycle. BTW my 2007 RSV is paid for as are all my toys...

It CAN make a HUGE difference as lithium grease will be moved out of the way with as little as 20 Lbs of force. Molybdenum Disulphide will stay in place at pressures over 100,000 lbs.

Nice bike and in the color I would have chose....... Do you want to trade???? See my signature.

Try not to finance your vehicles ESPECIALLY motorcycles and boats as they generally have higher interest rates and higher depreciation in the first year. MrsSquid makes sure I pay cash for my toys. Get an amortization table for your loan before you sign the paperwork and look at the amount you pay in interest. THINK about that number compared to the price you pay for the bike for a few days before you sign the loan paperwork!!!!!

Did you use Honda Moly60 grease on the splines?

Poor Man's Brake lamp and turn signal upgrade
KiteSquid replied to KiteSquid's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
Yes Sir, you are correct!!!!!! I was just listing options load resistors. I don't like using load resistors as they put off quite a bit of heat so you need to be careful where you mount them. I don't know why Yamaha did not install electronic flashers in the first place. If I were to speculate, I would have to say the primary reason is probably unit cost, a secondary reason could be to minimize the number of unique parts they have to purchase and warehouse for repairs. Yamaha did a good job at keeping the price of the 2nd gen RSV at a reasonable level (except, IMHO, for the 2009 model year due to the installation of the 6 disc CD changer..) -
IIRC I pay $450 for my 07 RSV and my 1950 Harley....
-
That should not effect all 4 cylinders, but is is always worth looking into

NEone Local To Me Lace and True a Rim/Spokes?
KiteSquid replied to GigaWhiskey's topic in Watering Hole
Just buy a spoke wrench and have at it!!!!! -
Your engine does not suck..... enough....seriously, it is not drawing enough vacuum, and there are countless issues that could cause it, but seeing that all cylinders are about the same and you are getting 1000 RPM idle that does narrow it down some. Readjust the idle for the minimum spec of 950 RPM and recheck the vacuum. Like stated above, check for a little slack in the throttle cable. if the butterflies can't close all the way, you will not get a good vacuum. Nothing for the engine to suck against. Are all vacuum lines attached correctly? Look in the parts book and service manual for proper routing and attachments. On a cold engine, check for vacuum leaks by squirting water on the intakes,' If it is a California bike (XVX13TFLC), check the Evaporative emissions control system for vacuum leaks. Are all four vacuum plugs installed? Properly? After checking all of that, I would have to give it a full tuneup.
