They are showing that they do NOT practice good risk management. Might as well walk across a live fireing rage, or mine field.
-
I am sure they do. It just takes the same amout of practice that those motorofficers have put in.

I'll make sure that whatever I do, the cup wil not come out by itself...

Question on turn signal
KiteSquid replied to kantornado's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Put the known good bulb from the front right side in the front left side. Test. If it fails, put the known good bulb from the rear ight side in the rear left side. Test. Put the bulbs you took out of the left side into the right side. Test. -
I just waned to make sure I had the price right before I went down that path. I do believe that if it works for you, you did NOT spend to much money. A VStar 250 will get me down the road, but I bought a RSV, for the comfort factor!!!!!

Also check for foreign material in between the caliper and piston!!!!!! Bikes have a lot more dirt getting at the calipers than cages do....

Correct me if I am wrong, but the total cost for the bicycle water bottle holder and the Kuryaken P-Clamp was $25 for each passenger, plus shipping for the P-Clamps. Total of $50 plus shipping.

Harley touring versus venture
KiteSquid replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My Venture is a lot more comfortable to ride than my H-D, but my H-D gets more headturns, when I ride it, which is not often. See my signature... -
*** FREE*** N.G. Scenic Highways & Byways book
KiteSquid replied to Carbon_One's topic in Watering Hole
I guess what I was trying to say is to me the book is worthless, because there is more information at the website... I chucked my copy in the circular file. -
I thought that I would point out that this is not the first trike from Harley-Davidson. Harley-Davidson made the Servi-Car from 1932 to 1973. I remember them used by meter maids for writing tickets. In 1933 the Servi-Car got a constant mesh three speed transmission with a reverse gear. http://www.dl45homepage.com/serviad36a.jpg Here is one used as an Ice Cream vendor. http://www.dl45homepage.com/1936GD.jpg MMMMMMMMMM Ice Cream!!!!!!!

I am glad to hear that you passed your skills test on your normal ride!!!! GREAT JOB!!!! It is OUTSTANDING that you did not use a dirt bike like the testing official said that other riders use!!!!!! WOOOO HOOOO!!!! I am saddened to hear that you don't want to repeat it. If you practice those skills it WILL help you on the highways at speed!!!!!! I try to practice whenever I can, but getting up to the speed that the Motor Officers do it at is beyond me right now. I need more practice!!!!!!! Oh, I do all my skills improvement rides on my 2007 RSV, as the foot clutch/tank shift on my pan-head is a bit difficult....but it FORCES me to keep my left foot on the board!!!!!!

*** FREE*** N.G. Scenic Highways & Byways book
KiteSquid replied to Carbon_One's topic in Watering Hole
I did NOT receive the National Geographic book I got basically a reprint of the byways on the web site in print form. Nice to decide where to go, but it does not cover the state designated byways that are also on the web site… http://www.byways.org/ -
While he has the rear tire off, have him lube the spines and fingers with Honda Moly60!!!!!

Mine has not yet arrived. -
Make sure you or your dealer uses Honda Moly60 paste grease on all your splines (3 places) and the rear hub fingers. This will make your parts last longer and really quiet them down!!!!
-
also, if you look in the VR Tech Section you can download a PDF copy of the factory service manual!!!!!!!!!! Also get the parts manual, to show you how it is assembled, and for part numbers if you need something...

Too bad Yamaha did not put a dimmer on these lights....

K & N, do they help?
KiteSquid replied to Kross Kountry's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
In the reports from some independent labs I have seen, the K&N filters don't clean as good as the paper ones do, but of course they did not test the paper filter from the 2nd Gen RSV, so it is subjective.... I had one on my 1986 Corvette. The problem with that generation of Corvette is the air intake is low. Real low. I was driving in a heavy rain and the car would not run. I removed the paper air filter that was soaking wet and drove on with no problem. I purchased the K&N for that car as the paper elements would swell when driving in heavy rain. I don't know if I would put them on my bike. I guess I would have to research the lowest price I could get the paper or the K&N for, and then think about the extra dirt that my bike will be inhaling.
