Engine Noise in Headsets
KiteSquid replied to Hotrod's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You might have induced a ground loop when you added the tach. you might try moving the ground lead from the tach to the same place the radio grounds at. -
Another way you can handle the Carb heaters is to add a relay so when the heaters are on, one or more of your add on loads would be disabled. I would probably put it on a comparable load. I would add an indicator lamp to tell you when the carb heaters is on, so you don't think something is wrong with that load. Just a thought. Another idea is to make the loads switchable, so you could pick which load gets turned off... rotate them if the weather is very cold. Also, I would probably go with heated glove liners vice heated grips. Probally a lower load and it would get the heat on your hands, not in the air. What do snowmobile riders do? Someplace where they ride for work and for a long season, like Alaska or northern Canada. The easyest way to heat the rider is to move south.. Florida comes to mind.

I received mine about three weeks ago.... maybe mine was the last one to ship. If you can get one, without the Mercury, you might be able to order some Mercury thur a local pharmacy.

The Virgina plate looks like a "Parrot Head" with his ham radio call sign. on the Internet I found the call sign K5WEO is assigned to a "BROWN, DAVID P of 3440 LAS VEGAS BLVD N 225 LAS VEGAS NV 89115 " by the FCC......so if you communicate with him again, ask him what bike David is riding now and how long he has been a Jimmy Buffet fan....just to mess with his mind..... OH and the photos are hosted at http://jennysgiftsetc.com/ for more mind game fodder..... it is in a folder called DPB, which is the initals of the brother listed above.... Also note they are removing the Ham radio and antenna, so there will be some modified wiring and holes where the screws and cables are removed from..... http://www.dmv.state.va.us/images/plates/parrot.jpg

I think it actually helps in racing applicatins. I use a very expenive, and hard to obtain, high tech gas mix in all my tires. Nitrogen 780,840 ppmv Oxygen 209,460 ppmv Argon 9,340 ppmv Water vapor ~4,000 ppmv Carbon dioxide 383 ppmv Neon 18.18 ppmv Helium 5.24 ppmv Methane 1.745 ppmv Krypton 1.14 ppmv Hydrogen 0.55 ppmv nitrous oxide 0.3 ppmv xenon 0.09 ppmv ozone 0.0 to 0.07 ppmv nitrogen dioxide 0.02 ppmv iodine 0.01 ppmv Oh, and trace amounts of carbon monoxide and ammonia

I would probably use Deep Creep, which is basically Seafoam in a spray can. -

a full tank of stabilized gas is your best bet. With an empty tank, you will get rust. Our gas tanks are bare steel on the inside. -
Buy a new bike with carbs?
KiteSquid replied to keithert's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When you go to EFI you can also go to variable valve timing, and there is the key to building an engine that is both powerful and fuel efficient. IF the next generation of Venture has EFI and variable valve timing, I might buy one and sell my current ride/rides for it. All that electronics come at a price, and I for one would be willing to pay it. Just look at the motor in the 2nd gen VMax for the starting point. -
I would accecpt a car, but it would have to be a Ford Festiva Shogun. http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/images/photos/89Shogun_01.jpg Click-able image to Jay Leno's Garage page on his Ford Fiesta SHOgun.
