So I went to the website listed and found this: Click HERE to go directly to the motorcycle headlamp section. it also looks like you have too many lamps on your bike... IF they interpret it that way.... HERE is the section that covers lamps on all vehicles...... You might ask the inspector what part of the law applies and for a copy of it so you can comply with it. I hope this helps

Couldn't you contact a gear company and get a new 5th gear in the transmission? Or buy a gear set for the rear end, there might be something manufactured that would fit, but IMHO it is not likely... but you could special order a single gear set. Taller rear tire would probably be the easiest change, IF it will fit in the rear with all suspension travel. this would also change the handling of the bike due to taller tire and possibly a narrower or wider cross-section. I too would like a taller over all gear ratio while in 5th gear, but possibly a lower ratio in 1st and 2nd, which would be a gear change inside the transmission. which = $$$$$$$

Let's talk speakers again
KiteSquid replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The stereo in these bikes is made by Clarion. IMHO, Clarion is in the bottom 10% of electronics manufactures. I don't know why Yamaha motor Corp, can't get Yamaha Electronics to make the stereos..... -
Dealer Assmebly Guide
KiteSquid replied to KiteSquid's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Here is a list of what the dealer does to the bike when uncrating it. Install: Front Wheel Front fender Rear view Mirror and grip end Windshield Top Cover (the plastic thing that surrounds the ignition switch) Front and rear Connector holder (this is the clip that holds the connector for the headsets) Travel trunk Back rest Antennas Passenger seat Battery Cylinder head cover plate Saddlebag ornament There are torque specs listed. He must first do it in English and then in French. -
Ummmmmmmmm the 4 channel VacuumMate starts at $499.00 or you can get the $579 model with the internal battery. My mercury carb sticks were about $80 and do not go out of calibration like any electronic or mechanical set up will do over it's life. Yes I have to be careful to NOT spill the mercury. I properly built DIY four tube ATF monomers looks like a close second...

I do wish you luck in selling it. Most of us here use small MP3 players for more capacity and no mistracking due to vibration. Oh it also frees up a lot of space on the bike. I would try to sell it on eBay...

foot pegs on a venture
KiteSquid replied to krotchrocketgrampa's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Simple, just take some off of an antique bike rusting in a junk yard, like a 1st gen and get a machine shop to make you some mounting brackets. Don't forget to get the shifter and brake levers, as you will need them two, with the new foot positioning with the pegs. -
Get one and help out all your ridding buddies!!!!!

I tried searching the forum but could not find it, but does anybody have a copy of the document the dealer uses to do final assembly of the 2nd Gen RSV? I would like to read the document as I am just curious as to what the dealer has to install and adjust... It might help purchasers of new bikes to make sure the dealer did not do something wrong...

Mine were incorectly installed. The two antennas were swapped, and they folded to the rear of the bike insted next to the tank...... Once I figured out what was wrong it took me about 10 minutes to swap them. My FM radio works a LOT better now.

The one at the rear of the bike is probably the bar inside the trunk latch assembly that connects the push button to the two latches... I have not looked at mine to figure out a fix........yet...

Check to see if the CB is off. If the squelch is set too low, and there is no traffic on the channel you have selected would cause your symptoms. Also if the intercom is on, and one of the two Push to Talk buttons is stuck down. READ the owners manual section on the operation of the radio. it is challenging in its operation. In the Service Manual, the Audio System information starts on page 8-51 and the procedure you want starts on page 8-56. If you don't already have it, this manual is available for FREE. Just click on the VRTech link on the left side of any page here at THE forum!!!!

Like I said, Oh, and that speaker may have many part nubers, but could be Yamaha buisness to buisness only.

He is listing Clarions number, not Yamaha's number... crockettrider, on the left side of all the pages here, you should click on the VRTech link to download the service manual and parts manual for the bike. ALL of the speakers on the 2nd Gen RSV are Yamaha part number 4XY-88161-00-00 HOWEVER If your warranty is expired, you might want to install aftermarket speakers for an improved sound and probably lower cost. IMHO Clarion products are substandard......
