I will probally buy the Harley 68348-05 about $70 for the pair. I THINK that they take a 881 bulb but I will put a Piaa Xtreme White Plus 880 (27 watts so not a big load on the charging system but quite a bit of light) in it... A lot lower current draw on the charging systme at 27 watts per bulb verses the 50 watts per bulb that the H3 draws. I have seen them on a buddies H-D Ultra Classic and I like em, but IIRC they did say Harley Davidson on some part of the lamp.

that price I THINK is per lamp, so you would need two of them.... Check with your dealer. You MIGHT need to modify the bike's wiring a bit change from a PAR36 Sealed beam lamp that takes two lugs to the wiring of the H3 bulb. http://www.piaa.com/Bulbs/Bulb-images/h3intense_tn.gif Note in the picture above that the H3 has one male spade terminal and no ground mounting, so you will have to make some minor modifications. http://www.bulbman.com/images/par36mpcl70rear.jpg In the photo above, you will see the electrical connections on the PAR36 sealed beam lamps that are USUALLY used as passing lamps. note the two screws for attaching wire lugs. Good luck, and start a thread in the 2nd Gen tech section with photos of your conversion. This will he

When you put in a low-ball bid, expect to be outbid, but sometimes you get lucky. I have the best luck when the auction has misspelled words in the title e.g. Yammaha vice Yamaha.... the searches don't hit them so less people see the auction. I will bid on 30 items and win one of them due to my low-ball bidding.

I don't like Silverstars... I have installed Piaa Xtreme White Plus H4 bulb in the headlamp for my bike. In the passing lamps I will install a Piaa Xtreme White Plus bulb of appropriate size. Yamaha offers 3 options for passing lamps for the RSV and RSTD. REMBER that our passing lamps are PAR36 sized lamps or sealed beam bulbs. I got all this information from the Star Motorcycles web site.... See the part that is high-lit in red blelow, but remember you will have to rewire your sealed beam passing lamps for the H3 Bulb Sealed Beam Passing Lamps Fits all V Stars, all Road Star Standard/Silverado and Royal Star Standard/Tour Classic/Tour Deluxe (with use of mounts) STR-4NK35-10-00 $118.95 Sealed Beam replacement light bulb STR-4NK35-50-00 $18.95 Halogen Passing Lamps Fits all V Stars, all Road Star Standard/Silverado and Royal Star Standard/Tour Classic/Tour Deluxe (with use of mounts) STR-4NK35-10-01 $118.95 Halogen replacement light bulb STR-4NK35-50-01 $18.95 Replacement Lens (H3) STR-4NK35-17-01 $22.95 Custom Tri-Bar Passing Lamps: Royal Star application: designed to coordinate with the Tri-Bar Headlight. Passing lamp mounts required for installation (STR-4NK35-40-01) sold separately. Fits all V Star models, Road Star Standard & Silverado and all Royal Star models (except Venture) STR-4WM35-10-EA $129.95 Replacement Glass Housing STR-4WM35-50-EA $32.95 Harley Davidson offers at least two Par36 sized lamps that should fit in the Yamaha chrome housings but you might have to do some wiring modifications. 68208-98A about $70 for the pair. I think these take a h3 bulb. 68348-05 about $70 for the pair. I think takes a 881 bulb but I will put a Piaa Xtreme White Plus 880 (27 watts so not a big load on the charging system but quite a bit of light) in it..... IF I purchase a set. But I don't know if the Yamaha passing lamp housings are deep enough to accept them... I hear tell that there is a PAR36 size lamp that takes an H4 bulb, but I have not found it without a chrome housing... yet. Also I don't think the electrical system could handle 3 high beam very well, and it is against the law in most states to have more than two headlamps on a motorcycle........

Does Sylvania make a H3 Silverstar???? If they do, Yamaha makes two different passing lamps..... one takes PAR36 bulbs, the other has a PAR36 lamp that uses a H3 bulb. Why are you using Silverstar bulbs???? There are a LOT of better bulbs on the market.

Kisan ChargeGuard installation question
KiteSquid replied to Jinksy4's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I would hook all the wires to where the battery ground wire connects to the frame!!!!! Makes it a LOT easier to replace the battery without a lot of extra wires hooked to it. Also, if you hook all the ground wires to the same point you are less likley to induce a ground loop. -
Turn signal problems
KiteSquid replied to trickster_mo's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Make sure you put it in the socket the right way. Does it flash bright??? You might swap right bulb for left bulb to see if the problem moves. AND you should use a 2357A or if you can find it a 2357ALL (Long life) for more lumens. -
Oh, but Armorall or other tire products dont stay where you put them..... I would NEVER use any of those products on a bike tire, it is like lubricating the tires tread.

Here is what Armor All has to say Straight from their website: http://www.armorall.com/faq/interior.php#answer12 Check with the manufacture of any tire dressing BEFORE using on any two wheeled vehicle!!!!!!!!

Can you define "perfect oil level"??? Most people fil the oil to the middle of the window. -
I purchased a mercury set NEW about 3 months ago, but the website has removed them.... I guess they ran out, or the EPA got after them... The only issue I have with mercury is I have to remove the mercury to transport it, but I use it at home only, so far, so I am quite happy.

motion pro's web site is http://www.motionpro.com/ Motion Pro's Sync Pro tool is here http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/partno/08-0411/ The two tools are simmular but IMHO the Motion Pro is better as it is a liquid gugage vice a stainless steel rod sliding in a calibrated bore. The Carbtune can get stuck or give inaccurate readings if dirt gets in it. The advatage to the Carbtune is it can be transported in a saddle bag in any position as there is no liquid to spill. I have a four channel mercury Manometer, which is IMHO bettter than either of the above, but it is filled with merucury, which is not toxic, but the oxide and most any salts of Mercury are...... Oh well, I guess I cant have my carb sitcks and eat em too......

the way I understand gifting is you can do $12k per person per person. CHECK the tax law, but I understand that your father in-law can gift you $12k and your wife $12k per year, AND your mother in-law can gift you $12k and your wife $12k per year, for a total of $48k per year.... but please CHECK the tax law!!!!!!!!! So, what about the ZR1 or Z06?????? I think GM part number 101.69.0012 would be nice too.

Question on Cassette Door 2nd Gen
KiteSquid replied to Tartan Terror's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The drawing I was referring to is HERE HOWEVER once looking at it, I cant find the door...... sorry.... look at the last page and it is there, but not as a separate unit. Also note the note that says the drawing is continued on the next page..... -
For the inseam challenged: you really should look at lowering any bike as the LAST resort!!!! the first place you should look is modifying your bikes seat. lower and narrower will help LOTS!!!!!!!

KiteSquid replied to Tartan Terror's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)

Yamaha services the warentee, not the local dealer. You can download the factrory service manual for FREE from this web site. Click on the VRTech link in the left hand collumn on EVERY page here at the GREATEST foum for Royal Star motorcycle owners!!!!!!!! Follow the links thur the 2nd gen. you will find it there.
