-
same for me!!!! I put them in the proper place. The dealer also installed them so the folded to the rear of the bike!!!!!!!!! I fixed this too.
-
Can you post a photo of this install??? Why do you think it is superior to the Yamaha headlamp? What bulb/bulbs does it take?
-
I have not, but probably will on my next set of tires.

Jimbob5, You are RIGHT, the third Gen RSV will look like a Yamaha, not a Harley. http://www.hullygully.com/Portals/1/images/MARINE/YAMAHA%20logo3.jpg Gotta love the crossed tuning forks logo!!!!! It sure looks diffren than the bar and shield logo http://www.yorkblog.com/flipside/Harley-Davidson.jpeg

tx2sturgis, Have you ever thought about a geodesic boat??? You would have to build it yourself. Click HERE for very light boats that weigh almost nothing. I have only found the website, as I am not a boater. BTW, one of the three boats that was used in Gilligan's Island for the S.S. Minnow sold last year. Click HERE for more info

stardbog, According to the table at Amsoils website it has no Molybdenum Disulphide in it, so I would not use it in a spline. I looked at Amsoil's "Moly fortified" greases, and they regrettably don't state the percentage of Molybdenum Disulphide in them, so I would guess that they have 5% or less. RandyR, Shipping would be a killer!!!! You should try to buy it locally!!!! Also click HERE to see the same seller has it for $7 and $6 shipping for a total of $13.... interesting. All, I just got an email reply from DuPont and they recommend Krytox® GPL 214 for motorcycle splines. NOTE that it is fortified with Molybdenum Disulphide for high pressure use!!!!!!!!!!! A quick search of the Internet I found it to cost $32 for a 2 oz tube plus shipping. I might try it once I run out of Honda Moly60.... that will take me about 10 years for my 3 Oz tube that cost less than 1/3rd the price for 50% more grease........

A good reflux still would work, but would be an explosion hazard. You might try a 4A molecular sieve but you would have to filter the fuel to make sure the 4A molecular sieve material was removed from the fuel. And you would have to properly dispose of the material... be ready to pay $$$$$$ as the EPA would not be happy with it. To save some $ on disposal fees you might be able to set up a self reactivating 4A molecular sieve. You can test pump gas for the percentage of ethanol with a tool like this: there is a kit sold HERE

I have a few radios laying around... which knob do you need? http://www.mediabistro.com/fishbowlLA/original/old_radio.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2154/2181550229_bb69ec1b53.jpg http://www.quest4.org/radio/knobs.jpg

Please read the information at THIS link. scroll down to the Spline Lubricants section. Plain synthetic greases get squeezed out from between the pressures points when splines are in contact. Molybdenum Disulphide is probably the best high pressure lubricant on the market, which makes it GREAT for lubricating splines. Honda Moly60 contains 60% Molybdenum Disulphide. There are a few greases with more Molybdenum Disulphide, but they are difficult to locate and usually cost more per Oz. You can also purchase dry Molybdenum Disulphide, but I would not recommend it as Honda Moly60 has some grease in it to make it stick in place better, and you can aspirate dry Molybdenum Disulphide!!!!!!!!!! You can pick up a 3 Oz tube of Hond Moly60 at a Honda Motorcycle dealer, but you will probably pay less for it if you go to a Honda or Acura CAR dealership parts counter. According to some second hand information I found on the web at the bottom of this post, as I cannot find the original MSDS on the web easily I find that the carriers in Honda Moly60 are dyno based an regrettably are not synthetic, but the splines in your bike should NEVER get above 300 degrees F, and if you lubricate your splines with Honda Moly60 every time you replace the rear tire, the synthetic carriers would not be an advantage. Do NOT use MOST of the "Moly greases" on the market as they only have 3-5% Molybdenum Disulphide in them. It is NOT enough Molybdenum Disulphide. Honda Moly60 is 60% Molybdenum Disulphide!!! The advantages of Krytox over Honda Moly60 MIGHT be longer service intervals and less wear on the splines, maybe. The advantage of Honda Moly60 is a LOT lower cost, about 12:1 or better. Here is the second hand MSDS info for Moly60 I found on the internet. If someone can get an original MSDS, PLEASE post the link!!!!!

I use the New Posts button in the top bar. This way I see the new posts sense my last visit to the forum, but in my user control panel I have some sections filtered out so I don't see posts there. I don't own a 1st Gen Venture so I don't have a need to read the 1st Gen tech section, so I filtered it out along with others. By clicking the New Posts button, I get to see this thread every time it is updated and I don't get a lot of email notifications..... I use this to get to the post I am interested in more quickly.

I too hit the donate button for an incident that happened last year. Thanks for the reminder. I paid a little more, to cover interest.

Do you know the part number for the Kawasaki horn button?? I need to find something like that for my bike. Does anybody have any other ideas for a secondary horn button?
-
Yes Krytox is probably THE lubricant on the market today, but as you pointed out, the cost of admission is beyond my shallow pockets... side note: there is at least one Krytox grease on the market that is a blend of PFPE and Molybdenum Disulphide. Krytox GPL 210-217 EP greases are black greases with 5% Molybdenum Disulphide added as an extreme pressure additive. I plan on calling DuPont to check out their recommendations for motorcycle splines.... but I may not get around to it. UPDATE: i sent an e mail to the Krytox contact at DuPont and am awaiting a reply.

I do like the use of two horn buttons!!!!! One for saluting friends and one for saluting non-friends....

BEER30 reminded me that this forum is for a group of eaters with a riding disorder by saying: so let me sharpen my electronic pencil and get to work... One Trillion dollars is: $1,000,000,000,000 that is a one with 12 zeros behind it!!!! Or better stated A trillion is a million million dollars. There were 6,862 registered members at the time of my first post, so if you divide $1T evenly you would get $145,730,107.84 each. From the not to detailed information at the DQ website it costs APROXMITALY $1.5M to set up a DQ... so each member could build 97 DQ restaurants for a total of 665,614 new DQ's world wide!!!!! with each member having $230,107.84 left over to purchase motorcycles. That would buy each member 12 RSV S models with $5827.84 left over to buy peanut buster parfaits at the DQ's of other members. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/13/17834768_5ef5d87cfb.jpg BEER30, Did I get it right this time?

GREAT!!!!! Have you thought about continuing education for rider safety????? You might want to get the Ride Like a Pro V DVD (1-5 contain mostly the same stuff but the production values and some of the finer points are better described as the numbers go up, so you DO NOT NEED 1-4) or possibly picking up the book Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well by David L. Hough??? Get the 2nd edition as it has a CD with lots more stuff on it. To save on shipping you might also get More Proficient Motorcycling: Mastering the Ride by David L. Hough. The above three items along with the book you get at the MSF rider course are IMHO the minimum to have on you bookshelf... well next to the factory service and parts manuals for your bikes.

Here is my answer to your question: One Trilion dollars is: $1,000,000,000,000 that is a one with 12 zeros behind it!!!! Or better stated A trillion is a million million dollars. If you bought 2008 RSVs at MSRP as stated on the Star Motorcycles web site, and excluded taxes and fees as they vary widely, you could buy: At MSRP of $18,690 for the Royal Star Venture S: Seashell/Raven model you could buy 53,504,547 bikes and have $16,570 remainder to buy some gas... AND at MSRP of $18,190 for the Candy Red/Raven model you could buy 54,975,261 bikes and have $2410 remainder to buy some gas... However I have a difficult time riding more than one bike at a time, so to look at it another way, you could ride a brand new RSV S model bike every day for 146,587.8 YEARS!!!!!! OR if every one of the 6,862 currently registered members of this forum were to get in on it that would be 7797.223404255319148936170212766 bikes for EACH MEMBER with only $2.41 each to buy gas.... That would let every member ride a new bike every day for 21.36 YEARS!!!!!!!

buying 07 need advice
KiteSquid replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The proper pressures are listed in the Owners Manual. you can download a FREE copy from this website. Click on the VRTech link on the left column of any page here, and follow your nose to the 2nd Generation technical documentation page. You can also download the factory service manual and the factory parts listing with diagrams, to help you service your motorcycle!!!!!! BTW What color '07 did you get????
