Not bike related, but a must see..........
KiteSquid replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
Thank you!!! BTW I live about one mile from the corner of Caledon Natural Area here in Virginia. From their web site: So I cant go a week without seeing a Bald Eagle in flight. To learn more go to there web site HERE IF you ride your bike there, be careful as the entrance is loose gravel. Enter slowly as it is on a curve in the road and on an incline. -
Maybe you should start with the manufacturer of the board for the specs on the LEDs, so we can choose some replacements. I searched their website, but could not find any contat information beyond a street address Lunar Accent Design 2774 North Cobb Parkway, Suite 109311 Kennesaw, GA 30152 Does anybody live near there?????

Can someone provide some photos of the inside of the Yamaha spoiler? Maybe we could remove the LEDS and replace them individually....

This mic AFAIK will work on the RSV. HOWEVER I have not tried it, nor do I sujest buying it, at that price. He markets it for the Harley as there are a lot more of them on the road and are willing to pay HIS price for a $30 mic. The two extra pins on a H-D are PTT, which the throat mike does not use as it is not equipped with it, and a shield, which you probably not need unless you put a magneto on your bike. Note on his FAQ's page it states:

have you thought about a laryngophone (AKA throat microphone) instead of a hand held mic? it is what military pilots use. There is one HERE This is a photo from the web site above. http://www.hzfenterprises.com/images/Throat%20Mic%20011.jpg I am going to experiment with one from a diffrent web site, but I will have to modify it.

Pure-One PL14612 vs PL14610 & fit?
KiteSquid replied to frogmaster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just bought a filter for both of my Honda cages and they are also the PL14610, so I need to find them by the 6 pack to save some $$$$$. This is too cool!!!!! -
It has NOTHING to do with the size of the rider and EVERYTHING to do with rider skill. Look at the 5'3" tall 105 LB riders throw their machines around. It is all about rider skill. (and the willingness to improve those skills.) I am trying to improve mine all the time!!!!!

I don't know, but if you look on page H11 of the parts catalog, the rectifier is part number 37. To remove my oil filter I use a pliers type filter remover. Click HERE to see the pair I bought at Harbor Freight (HF) Caveat emptor as HF to me is cheep tools sold inexpensively. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/photos/36700-36799/36778.GIF There are others on the market but they probably cost more, and might be of higher quality. I use mine only on my RSV, as on my cages I can use a strap type oil filter wrench, so for the price, it was a good deal for me. KD Tools makes one for $35 and it has more teeth to grab the filter, Cal-Van tools has some in several sizes for $15 to $26, but one of them looks a lot like the one from HF, Channellock has a nice one for $18. Craftsman has one for $20. IIRC I paid $7 for the HF tool, but it might have been on sale, or I used a coupon, or asked for a Military Discount...... It probably will not hurt. NO, what you probably saw on the drain plug was a mixture of gear lube and metal shavings, as the thing that sticks out of the plug is a magnet. It is normal to see a small amount of metal filings there, but if they are big or excessive, you should check the gears!!!!! I would only fill to Yamaha's spec for the reasons stated by others above.

DO IT!!! Of course you should do a LOT of maintenance before starting. Check the manufacture date of the tires and change them if the are more than a reasonable number of years old. Grease the splines if you have to take the rear tire off. Change the oil and filter. Check the color of the hydraulic fluids and change if necessary. Change the coolant. IF you break down on the way home, have the VR help phone number list printed out with you. Have enough limit on your credit card and the money set aside ahead of time so you can rent the smallest U-Haul truck to get home, if the bike is beyond a reasonable time to repair. We rented a U-Haul to tow a pickup truck home that lost a rod bearing. It was less expensive to do it and replace the engine ourselves when we got home than to have it done away from home.....and the job was done to our standard.

A sportbike coated my bike with his oil; how do I get it off?
KiteSquid replied to Dave77459's topic in Watering Hole
Lots of detergant and water. IF you use Simple Green or a diluted Super Clean make sure the bike is cold and out of the sun. I have had this stuff lift the plastic chrome on one of my cars... -
Drive Shaft With Busted Teeth
KiteSquid replied to Jinksy4's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
NOTE: all numbers listed below are the reference number of the part on page E2 of the parts catalogue available for free download from this site. I don't think the holes in the rear of the Gear Coupling #10 is for Gear Oil to get into the Gear Coupling to lubricate the splines at the rear of the drive-shaft. This part spins and centrifugal force would spin the Gear Lube away from the splines. Also if you look at the diagram, there is a bearing #8, bearing retainer #6, o-ring #7 and oil seal #9 between the gear coupling and the splashing gear lube coming off of the ring gear. When I removed my drive-shaft for the first time, all that was on the rear splines and in the gear coupling was the, IMHO substandard lithium soap grease that Yamaha installed in the factory, now replaced with Honda Moly60 Paste. The slot like holes in the rear of the gear coupler were open and clear upon dis-assembly and I used a light coat of Honda Moly60 Paste on the rear spline, so I don't think the holes will become fouled by the Honda Moly60 Paste.- 29 replies
