Need some placement options for a Fuse Block
KiteSquid replied to sgripp's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Carbon_One, Thanks for the assist. BTW, There is also a low-profile ATM fuse, but I have not seen any fuse blocks that take them. Click HERE to see what Wikipedia has on automotive fuses. -
Need some placement options for a Fuse Block
KiteSquid replied to sgripp's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Have you thought about getting a smaller fuse block? I have not seen an ATM block in my searches but there are a few ATO size blocks at Summit Racing that look promising. Here is the one I am looking at. http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/large/prf-30002.jpg Summit's catalog of fuse blocks is HERE -
Of course they will work in Canada, you just have to be in one of the 50 proper states of mind. Here are a few examples: State of shock State of denial State of anger State of acceptance State of desire State of hope State of belief State of like State of hate State of consciousness State of agitation State of love State of dislike State of unconsciousness State of rest

Clutch Lever - Brass piece
KiteSquid replied to RossKean's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I too need an extra cup of coffee.... I am just glad you could find the part number. Your local dealer probably does not have it on the shelf, unless it is used in several other models of bikes as it would be a low use item... He will probably have to order it for you. Good luck! And thanks for the reminder to lubricate our control linkages. -
In most incidents, Gross Tonnage Rules apply. The motorcyclists usually looses against most other motor vehicles. Scan those mirrors!!!!!

EVERY part for the RSV is available at your local Yamaha dealer, or many of the online parts houses. To find the part number you should download the parts manual. If you click on the VRTech button in the left hand column you will get there. While you are there, download the service manual too..... BTW sense I dont know what part you are looking for, it is probably on page F6. -
you are only gettinga 25% increrease in light output. I would probally be looking for a 300% increase in light output. HOWEVER Another thing is what is the viewing angle of the LEDs? If you are replacing a 180 degree LED with a 20 degree LED they will look brighter from directly behind, but a lot dimmer or not at all, off axis. What are teh LEDs currently on the board?

What do you want to use the LEDs for???? Too many applications for LEDs to make a single recommendation. Brake light? Accessory brake light/s? Turn Signals? Running lihgts? Head light? Passing lamp? Driving lamps? Courtesy lamp in the trunk or over the saddle bags? "accent" lighting? Dash light? Flashlight or headlamp for road side emergencies?

IMHO the 100% output of the LEDs in the Yamaha spoiler is not enough. I would have to replace the LEDs with some with a higher light output. Like replaceing a 20w bulb in your desk lamp for 1000w bulb...... would be suficant.
-
WaltH I really like the look of the Yamaha spoiler, but would like it to have BRIGHT LEDs when the stop lamps are on...

what maintenance has the splines of your drive-shaft received? What is the condition of the splines on your drive-shaft? -
When I replaced the rear factory Brickstone tire, one pad was about 50% while the other was about 30% gone, so I swapped them. I am going to check them often and replace early...... I will order two spare sets of rear pads and one set of fronts with my next "safety chrome" purchase.... just to have on hand.

Better yet, post a meet and eat!!!! to meet at your favoite eatery.... Post it, and they will come......

TEW47, THANKS for the safety reminder!!!!!! IIRC in the MSF course and Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well by David L. Hough they tell you to check your rear-view mirror often. At a stop light I keep the bike in 1st gear (Ready to pull out) and watch my rear-view mirror until I have at LEAST three stopped cars buffer behind me, before I lower my rear-view vigilance. If there is a car stopped ahead of me, I ALWAYS make sure I have an escape route. Meaning: Don't stop too close to the car in front of you so you have room to maneuver to the shoulder or even lane split to get out of the way!!!!!!!

But none of us are fubsy

It costs them to dispose of it. You should call your city or county government office to see where there is a public waste collection point, or it might be illegal for those places listed above to turn you away... Here in King George County VA, I can go to two Convenience Centers to recycle used coolant, trans fluid, engine oil and batteries. Also Twice a year they have a Hazardous Materials collection day at one of the convenience centers, so I can drop off excess paint and other household chemicals.

Combined Front & Rear Brakes
KiteSquid replied to Reaney in NH's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I too do not like linked braking systems. On the 1st Gen, you could probally remove a line and plug the connections, but I would have to look thur the service manual to see how. An alternative is to buy a 2nd Gen OR maybe you and Reaney in NH can trade bikes so you can both get the brakes of your dreams.
