I test drove a used Valkyrie Interstate but the owner was asking way to much for it as it was quite beat up, so I bought a new 2007 RSV instead. That Valk interstate was WAY out of tune but still had TONS of power....

The retaining ring plyers I posted about were from Snap-on but were labled Blue Point, so I assume they are manufactured by someone else for Snap-on.... Can anybody find the same set elsewhere for a lower price?

I hope you are looking for inexpensive vice cheap, as cheap would not be GOOD as the title of this thread indicates was your preference.

The first time I used them, I got my moneys worth out of them...

Did you get the Valkyrie Interstate or the Valkyrie? Photos please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Honda made a 1800 Valkyrie Interstate I would have one in my garage!!!!!!!

I bought the set a THIS link and cannot complain about them. They do cost a lot, but they are forged..... http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/OBJECTS/32900/32824.JPG

I would probably not be able to ride my bike to Hell Michigan as I would probably go there in a hand cart.... Once when I was in the US Navy my ship pulled into Narvik Norway and we tried to go to Hell Norway, but it was a two day trip through Oslo, so we did not go....

I have the right side factory horn (chrome that goes behind the engine) with mounting screws. You can have it for price of shipping of whatever USPS flat rate box it fits into. PM me with your address so I can get this out of my garage and onto your bike.

Two options for you: Befriend a venturerider in your area that loves to work on bikes... feed them and repairs will come. Buy a second Venture Royal to use as a backup. IMHO they are inexpensive and if you find a low milage unit it can be very rewarding.

I wish I had bought all the electrical accessories I wanted at the same time, so I only had to take the tupperware off once.... live and learn.

I had a H-D that was smoke and a little fire dammaged..... I sold it as it was and took a beating on the money lost..

AND you have to get the XM and Navi if you want ABS or then the Airbag..... I wish they offerd the Airbag bike without XM and Navi........ oh well

I bought a 2010 Airbag equipped GL1800 for $24,100 and I love it. It has ABS and an Airbag, but it did come bunled with a XM radio (which I will never use) and a navigation system that is a PITA to use. I do prefer the ride over the RSV. What do I like over the RSV? The GL1800 has more power over a wider RPM band, handle parking lots better. Comes with a center stand so rear tire inspections are much easier. it has two low beam lights (twice the light in low beam) and two high beam lights (quadruple the light on high beam as the low beams stay on when the highs come on). STIFF frame, I could feel the frame flexing my RSV as I would corner and I cannot detect any frame flex on the GL1800. What did I give up from the RSV? Leg room, as I have a 36" inseam I am now looking for highway pegs. Ease of maintenance as the GL1800 has lots of "Tupperware" to remove to do most any maintenance (I am NOT looking forward to my first air filter change). I had to buy a CB radio and install it (lots of Tupperware). I have yet to figure out how to change out a high beam lamp (It does not need it yet but I am dreading the day it does). the GL1800 has cast aluminum handle bars so there is NO adjustment for it (I will be buying some riser blocks to give adjustment). HUGE alternator so I can add just about any electrical accessory. The GL1800 has more wind protection than the RSV which is a good and a bad thing as I will be warmer on cold days but possibly hotter on warm days. I have ridden my GL1800 on a 19F day which is something I would NEVER do on an RSV (I was wearing a Gerbing heated vest and gloves) The GL1800 weighs more than the RSV but sense it has a boxster engine the center of mass seems to be lower. Anything is a compromise. Do I prefer the GL1800 over the RSV? YES. Do I prefer the GL1800 forums over this RSV forum? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there are way to many good people here and I feel I need to put on a Fire Fighting Ensemble to visit most goldwing forums. So I will continue to pay my membership fee to visit my friends here at VentureRider.com.

Resonable miles per hour on trip
KiteSquid replied to Sylvester's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I normally set up my trip at Mapquest.com and let it calculate the time for riding, but it does NOT include any time for stops. I normally use secondary roads as I would rather see the scenery than what I see from interstates. I pad my time. But sometimes I abandon my planed trip and get on the interstate as I fall behind where I need to be to meet someone..... The reason I use Mapquest is I can transfer the route to my Garman GPS quite easily.... check for compatibility before making your route..... -
That is why I gave up on the original plan and came up with this one. it is usually easy to get two or three plates from a slave yard. I got seven from a yard in Hawaii on my last trip over there......

This is sad that you have two broken Ventures at the same time, or are you going somewhere and purchasing two motorcycles to bring home? I can understand the latter as it is difficult to ride two motorcycles at the same time over long distances. Regrettably I cannot comment on an enclosed trailer for two motorcycles as I have only had to trailer one motorcycle at a time which was my 1950 H-D FL when it broke and on a second occasion my new 2010 Honda Goldwing as I could not find a ride to Pennsylvania on short notice to go pick it up from the dealership. Have you contacted trailer salesmen in your area for recommendations? Take what they say with a grain of salt as they do have a profit motive. Whatever you get, be sure to get a spare tire for it, just in case.

Sense my great licence plate swap did not work out I will try this.... Here is your chance to own a lot of plates from around the world. For everyone who sends me two motorcycle license plates from their state they will get one entry in a drawing to receive one of all the plates sent in...... woo hoo!!!!! I am doing this as I would like to collect one motorcycle license plate from everywhere possible. All states, prefectures, provinces, countries, counties, etc as possible. If you want to play, post here and I'll PM you with my mailing address. how easy is that?? IF you will send me a third plate from your area I will send those plates to freebird (The guy who runs this forum) to hang in his garage. This drawing will be limited to the first person to post to this thread from each state. after they receive my address by PM they have three weeks for me to receive the plates then that state is released to the next person to post from that state. So who can send me some plates??????? The drawing will be held at a yet to be determined date as I may have to go on travel for work and it may take a little while for people to get excited enough to go to their garage to look for old plates or to go to the salvage yard to take some off of wrecked bikes....

PDF file on how to set up YOUR Goldwing
KiteSquid replied to Eck's topic in Honda Goldwing Tech Talk
Thanks!!!! Now to see if they properly asembled mby bike at the original dealership. BTW they did inporperly install my windshiled and I had to re-install it..... it would not lower. -
All of them, if you use the lay the bike on its side technique of tire changing........ I will be buying the Buschtech hitch as it is recommend by Tom over on the GL1800 forum as being strong. The inexpensive hitches that connect to the saddlebag sub-frames are not recommended.
