  1. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! Does your insurance company offer a discount for being an instructor?????? you might want to check!!!!
  2. Don't forget to lube the splines (three places) and the clutch hub pins with Honda Moly60 lube. Replace the gear oil in the final drive while you are there. replace the aluminum crush washers with new ones EVERY TIME or put in some nylon ones like I did.
  3. I would only buy that bike to show it in a museum... not ride, as it would take a lot of time an $ to make it ride-able.... But there is not much call in museums for a VR.... BUT there are others here that have time to spend on overhauling the trans and engine to make it RUN!!!!!!!
  4. my '07 is quiet. Like everything on earth, it is for sale, for the right price.
  5. Take the tests. Then take them again a few hours or days later as the tests rotate and there are much more than the 20 images per test......... GREAT site!!! I LOVE the MSF!!!!!!
  6. Hi. Yes it has. Oil: Rotella T SAE5W-40 full synetic in the blue jug (The shape may be a little different, but the blue jug has synthetic while the white jug has dyno oil) http://www-static.shell.com/static/rotella-en/images/products/rosn-1gal-5w40-z7.jpg Click on the jug to go to Shell's website. Oil filter Purolator PureONE part number PL14612 (but shoot it with some black high temp paint from a rattle can) or PL14610 for a taller filter that does fit, but on my bike takes a lot more fiddling to get it in place. http://partsmart.boschwebservices.com/RB/NA/AUTO/AFTERMARKET/PARTSMART/PartSmartImages/PL14612.jpg Click on the filter to go to PuronONE website to learn more about how well this filter cleans your oil. In a wet clutch engine that the clutch and engine share oil, you NEED to try to get as much of the worn off friction material from the clutch out of the oil BEFORE it gets to your engines bearing surfaces. A high quality filter like the Purolator PureONE or Amsoil EAO filters will do this job. I find the PureONE at Advance Auto Parts and sometimes there is a coupon, but to get the Amsoil EaO filters I have to order them from Amsoil or find a dealer........ Both are GREAT filters, but for me the PureONE is easier to find and usually costs less.
  7. Gotta listen to some of his music. he was an INNOVATOR in music!!!!!!!!!!!!! GENIUS!!!!!!! I am sad to hear of his passing.
  8. 46K$...... You could buy a new RSV, and put a superchager on it, and still have $ to spare.....
  9. A blower on a VMax!!!!!! It might just fit on a 2nd Gen RSV........ What a ride that would be!!!!!!! A blower on MY 2nd gen RSV. But COMVETHOMELANT would probally not sign the 4790/2Q.........
  10. If you are using sealed beam lamps, they are PAR36 size, so ANY good lighting distributor can look up that size of bulb to tell you what is available. There are also several housings that are PAR36 size that take replaceable bulbs, and finding the lamps in low wattage and yellow might be challenging. BUT if you put in some relays you could have the yellow passing lamps flash with the turn signals....................... THAT should get some attention.
  11. There is three copies of Ride Like a Pro (RLAP) IV or V DVD's that are free for anybody who wants it. FREE, but they have to agree NOT to copy it, and to pass it along for FREE to the next person after a short viewing sesson.... maybe two weekes???? And again, I am not connected with RLAP, I just want my fellow bikers to have a long and healthy life on two wheels and anyway that we all can learn to ride safely is a good thing!!!!!! BTW, if you are tired of waiting, or would like to purchase your own copy please click HERE to order and be sure to ask for your Venture Rider Forum member discount. IIRC it saves you $5. 12. Who did you get it from????? I dont rember seeing it posted..... but I am an idiot.
  13. I'll fix it all up tomorrow.....
  14. Click on the link in the thread at [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1828]THIS[/ame] link You can download the factory service manual that has the bikes schematics in it. While you are there you can download al the 2nd Generation Manuals: RSV Owners Manual RSV Service Manual RSV Parts List
  15. Get some of the non-skid paint the US Navy uses on the flight deck of Aircraft Carriers. TOUGH and non-skid, but probably expensive too.
  16. there is a FREE schematic included in the FREE service manual that you can download for FREE from a link on this site. Look in the left column of this page for a link called VRTech click it and follow your nose thru the 2nd Gen links.
  17. But MAKE them use Honda Moly60 grease on the Clutch Hub pins and while the final drive is off, on the splines on both ends of the drive shaft and the splines that connect the final drive to the clutch hub. You can also get it at an Acura Car dealership... The Motorcycle dealer will charge about 40% more for the tube of grease than the car dealerships due to lower volume sales.
  18. Sense LEDs are solid state, they should last longer than the bike.... BUT it also depends on if they were "potted" into place. this would add a mechanical bond in addition to the mechanical bonding that the leads have. I doubt they are tested to MIL-STD-810 shock and vibration specs.
  19. Mine were installed on the wrong side and backwards too by the dealer. They folded aft, not forward. I fixed it in about 20 minutes...
  20. This course is available out of PA too... See your Motorcycle Safety Foundation web site or instructor ASAP to sign up. It may save your life!!!!!
  21. Have you lubricated the splines on hte driveshaft and the Clutch Hub (connects the final drive to the rear wheel)??????
  22. one problem with the LED light boards is they don't state the viewing angle or the MCD output of the LEDs that are installed. you cant compare them until you have two or more models in your hand.......
  23. Actually that is really close to what I paid for my 2007 new..... in 2007. It pays to shop.
  24. As I understand it, the V cut gears are VERY expensive to machine compared to an angle cut or a straight cut gear. You are correct on the side loads produced by an angle cut gear, and they wear out faster.
  25. I put Honda Moly60 on the splines of my driveshaft and added some to the final drive. It lowered the noise on my bike....
